Feeling physical exhaustion as a psychosomatic reaction to things that feel daunting or intimidating is such a ridiculously counterproductive thing to do. Like there's a situation that requires you to be alert and mentally present and paying attention, and your brain just goes "hey I don't wanna. I don't wanna be here. How about going unconscious instead. No fuck you we're warping out. Night night."
literally seeing this while lying in bed sick and exhausted from being forced into incredibly stressful situations today, this makes so much sense thank you.
Getting the idea from my lovely moot @berry-puree, for disability pride month anyone can send me asks about my disabilities (anons welcome), and as long as they are respectful and in good faith I'll answer them :) Nothing inappropriate, and I am not a medical professional so please keep that in mind.
when is the first episode releasing (Iām super excited)
We have a bit to go since animation takes quite a long time, but we do have something coming up this month that should be pretty kool :3 But we're looking at sometime around the end of the year!
In the meantime, I can say to go check out our website, projectrightsideup.neocities.org. There's lots of pages, so make sure to look around ;3
happy disability pride month to people who have never questioned if they're really disabled. happy disability pride month to people who never wonder if it's all in their head. happy disability pride month to people who can't be invisibly disabled even if they don't use a visible aid. happy disability pride month to people who don't question if they belong to the community. happy disability pride month to everyone who carries the trauma of spending their whole life as their parent's "disabled child". happy disability pride month to people with no interest in validating others. happy disability pride month to people who wish they could identify out of being disabled. happy disability pride month to people who don't even have the option of questioning whether they might really be able bodied
Happy disability pride month to everyone with ptsd, happy disability pride month to everyone with complex ptsd, happy disability pride month to everyone who questions if their problems are big enough to count as a disability, happy disability pride month to anyone who questions if their problems count as a physical or mental disability, happy pride month to everyone who has a disability that causes people to stare, and to those whose disabilities are hidden, happy disability pride month to everyone who deals with any kind of disability physical or mental, youāre all badass and I want you to remember that this month okay
also! just wanna call into attention this small but very personal win here in virginia
so this is house bill 848 - it passed very recently, and it actually passed after I had done a bunch of research on this part of VA law for a government thing.
so lemme explain what this does!
so, first things first-
what is a tenant's assertion?
basically, if there is something wrong with your home that actively threatens your life or safety, you need to tell your landlord about it. think problems like lead paint/pipes, rodents, your water/powe randomly shutting off not as a result of not paying bills, things like that! any of those could kill the tenant, especially those that are vulnerable like the elderly, disabled, or infants.
if your landlord ignores you or refuses to fix the issue, you may file an assertion against them so the court forces them to fix it.
the catch?
to file an assertion, you must be 100% up-to-date on your rent payments. though there's a loophole to this as well - if your rent is being subsidised (like with sec. 8) that still counts and you can't file an assertion.
my dad works in poverty/tenant law, and ends up running into this issue a lot. now you see why I know this bit of niche ass law.
what does that do in practice?
so the result of this is that people who are poor, and often disabled/elderly/poc or other minorities, just have to live in these shitty, possibly deadly situations because they literally can't do anything about it. it sucks and could kill someone.
so what does HB848 do?
this removes that requirement, so you can file an assertion regardless of the status of your rent payments. so landlords have to fix the issue, because being poor doesn't mean you should be killed by the very place you call home.
just a reminder that it's now disability pride month.
disabled people have had their benefits torn to fuckin shreds under this administration, both from being disabled and simply from being poor as most of us are.
remember those that have fucking died from it. remember the ones still surviving it.
having memory problems is so cool like yeah lemme reread everything ive ever written constantly, let me backtrack on all our conversations so i dont forget you, so i dont forget what you look like and how you talk and that i love you, let me linger too long just trying to sear things into my mind so i wont wake up one day knowing youre a gap i cant seem to even trace the edges of because everything is blurry and frayed and you werent the first and you wont be the last and im scared of that. im scared of everything i forget because i know youll never love me if i cant remember. because remembering and retracing my steps and writing everything to keep you in my mind is all i have to ever prove i care.

I really liked it, first of all, and I'll probably post more of my thoughts soon, but I wanted to point something out in particular.
did anyone else get the feeling that mary or her mother was trans? during Mary's nightmare/flashback, her mother is fairly androgynous in voice (possibly a result of hrt). I myself am afab, but have a very deep voice due to some other shit so that's not remarkable in and of itself.
but when Mary wakes up, every colour in the room, including what she's wearing is blue, pink, and white. later on, the guy sitting at the table is wearing the same colours.
I thought this was a really heavy implication that one of them was trans, and so did my dad (he noticed the table guy)
anyways I don't really see people talking about it so I wanted to put it out there
