Hey Snowball Party-Goers and Serenity Cool Cats- it’s your favorite event director, Ruby Gem! I’ve got another task for you guys- super simple but super effective! All you have to do for this mini task is post a picture of what your character is wearing to the Snowball! You’ll receive 100pts for each character you post an outfit for! It can be something you have worn before, an image you find online- or you can create your own outfit! My personal favorite way to make outfits is by using polyvore.com! A Playlist Pour Moi- SHRPGTASK25

For this task, you are going to be creating a playlist for your character! Simple enough, right? What you need to do is select 5-10 songs that you feel either relate to your character or are songs your character would enjoy. You also need to include a brief explanation as to why you selected each song for that character (1-3 sentences is all we’re asking for!). We also highly encourage you to create “album artwork” or a cover for your playlist, however this is NOT mandatory!

You can format this task post HOWEVER you’d like! Let your creativity flow with this one! We figured after all the long writing tasks we’d give you one that's simple yet effective! You will be awarded 250pts for each playlist you make. Also, you are only allowed to make ONE playlist a character! This task will be due January 30th!

SHRPGTASK24- Poetry!

literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.

Whether it be nursery rhymes or Shakespeare, we all at one time or another were exposed to the beautiful art that is poetry. We were lectured on the importance of the art, how it shows emotion and detail through words, and the finding of connections to not only our lives, but the lives of characters in novels, movies, or just day to day things. That’s what this task is all about; Connections.

THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS FOR THIS TASK! :)

OPTION ONE:

Your job is to find a poem (NOT WRITTEN BY YOU!) that you feel accurately connects with your character. It can be long, it can be short, it can be silly, it can be serious, it can be old fashioned, or it can be modern- it can be by someone on tumblr, or by a famous poet- any poem written by someone OTHER than yourself!

Your task post can be laid out however you want. You can include the lines of a poem throughout a self-para, paste the poem and analyze it, break down the poem’s structure, each word, phrase, and connect it directly to your character- any way you want!

Your post MUST include:

Your selected poem (Obviously)

The author of the poem and/or a link to the poem

At least of 1-2 paragraphs (or 10-15 sentences) of your writing/connecting it to your character. (but we highly encourage you to do more- ESPECIALLY if you’re taking the self-para route!)

A heading that says: SHRPGTASK24- “Name of Poem”

A SHRPGTASK24 tag

This task will be worth 2,000 points PER CHARACTER! You are more than welcome to find more poems and do this again and again for your character- but you will only be receiving points for one of the task posts!

OPTION TWO:

You must write a poem that is connected to your character! Whether it be their past, their present, their desired future, their personality, their disorder, their relationships- whatever! It can be something they wrote, from a third person view, from your view as their mun- let your little writer heart do as it pleases!

Your post MUST include:

A poem with at least 15 lines written by you! (We have ways to find out if you did not write it!)

It must have a title!

At least of 1 paragraph (or 5-10 sentences) explaining what this poem is about/why you wrote it/the context.

A SHRPGTASK24 tag

This task will be worth 2,000 points PER CHARACTER! You are more than welcome to write more poems and do this again and again for your character- but you will only be receiving points for one of the task posts!

So, pick your poison members! Are you one who likes to analyze and critique the writing of others? Or are you a poet at heart? Whichever task you decide to do- we are sure it will be amazing! This totally seems like a lot of information and if you’re confused- don’t fret! We are here to answer any and all quesitions! :)

You will be allowed to get points for one option per character! Meaning, you cannot do option one and option two on a SINGULAR character and get points for both! But- if you have more than one character, for each character you do this for you’ll receive points!!!<3

Don’t forget to tag your posts SHRPGTASK24 and shoot a message to Director Ruby once you have completed it :) This is going to be the last big task before our Winter Event- so rack up those points!

SHRPGTASK23- Thanksgiving Task!<3

Hello lovelies! For this Turkey Day task, we’re going to be giving you a list of writing prompts to choose from! It’s going to be entirely up to you what kind of route you take your response to the task down and it’s a great way to get lots of points by doing what we do best- writing!

You can do as many or as little prompts as you want! Each prompt you do is going to be worth 550 points! They must be at least 20 sentences long (a little over 300 words) and they must be tagged SHRPGTASK23! Also make sure you copy the prompt you did/number of that prompt and include it somewhere in your task post!

These are your prompts options:

Imagine your character never, ever came to Serenity and was still at home for the holiday. What would Thanksgiving be like for them back in their ‘normal’ life? Who would be there? What would they be eating? Where would Thanksgiving dinner be held?

Who, or what, is your character most thankful for? Why are they so thankful for them/it? What significance does this person/thing have in your characters life? What would life be like without it?

Imagine your character is watching Thanksgiving from an outside perspective and seeing what the holiday is like without them. (This is more definitely more patient driven- but it can also work for staff members who are far from home/on-campus!). How would they feel watching the holiday being celebrated without them?

What is your character’s ideal Thanksgiving? Who would be sitting at the table? What would they be eating? How would they be celebrating the Holidays?

All task posts must be done, posted, and tagged by November 29th! Remember; You can do as many or as little prompts as you want! You will receive points for EACH prompt you do! Happy Thanksgiving, Serenity!

SHRPGTASK22- This is Halloween!!

There are two weeks until Halloween- but it’s never too early to get the party started! I, Director Ruby Gem, think it’s time everyone starts getting into the spooky spirit. So, that being said, Serenity is going to be throwing a two week long HALLOWEEN BASH! There’s going to be trick or treating, party games, a costume contest, a Haunted House (or, rather, a Haunted Hall) and more!

Here is the schedule for the Halloween Bash that is going to be taking place for the rest of October!

October 16th-21st; Costume Contest Entries!

To enter the costume contest, just post a picture of your characters costume, tell us who they are and why they picked that costume(4-5 sentences)! Then send a message to me, Director Ruby Gem, letting me know your post is up so I can enter you in the contest! Every character who enters the contest will be given 150 points!

October 22nd-24th; Costume Contest Voting!

A poll will be posted here on my page so you can vote for your FAVORITE costume! There will be a few different awards given out!

October 25th-31st; Trick or Treating and Haunted Halls!

The Medical Ward is going to be where patients can go trick or treating! Staff members will be assigned rooms where they are to hand out candy to any dressed up Trick-Or-Treaters that dare knock on their doors! Staff members can choose to have them sing a song, do a silly dance, solve a riddle or talk about their costume in order to receive their treat! Every time a Trick-Or-Treater completes a challenge given to them by the staff member, both the patient and staff member will receive 50 points! (Finished threads must be reported to Director Ruby in order to get your points!)

The Rescue Ward is going to be turned into a Haunted Hall where older patients who want harder challenges can complete scavenger hunts, mini obstacle courses, solve riddles and try not to get scared by the creepy zombies and ghosts lurking around! Patients will work in teams to finish their challenges, riddles, scavenger hunts etc. and when they finish each one, they will both receive 50 points! (Finished threads must be reported to Director Ruby in order to get your points!) This event is only for patients who do not have a diagnosis preventing them from participating! We don’t want anyone getting hurt!

There will also be a dance party in the Rec room, bobbing for apples and candy-corn making in the cafeteria and other fun, halloween-y games going on outside! So put on your best costume, grab your candy bags and get ready for the best Halloween ever!

Any questions can be sent to Director Ruby! ALL POSTS INVOLVING ANYTHING FROM THIS TASK WILL HAVE TO BE TAGGED SHRPGTASK22 !! If it is not in the tag / you didn’t message Ruby about it I will not go searching for it! So please please remember to tag it and send it to Ruby! Have fun! <3

SHRPGTASK21: In Another Life...

For this task, you will be writing an in character task that will involve a partner! More specifically, another character within the RP. It would be set in an alternate universe, or rather your character in their regular life, pretending that they weren’t in Serenity and they likely had no reason to be there either. They will come into contact with another character from the RP, whether it be from afar, or a direct interaction. It can be set in the past, present, or future-- whatever you think suits best, just be sure to clarify it in some way in your task.

Where is your character? Why are they there? What year is it? What is the purpose of them being at that location? What are they doing? How do they see the other character? What does the other character look like? What’s their reason for being there? Does your character approach them, do they speak? What do they say, why? What’s the tone of the conversation? Remember, you can only see from your characters point of view. Or do they keep the distance and say nothing? Why? What are they thinking during this time? How does the scene end? What does your character think of the encounter?

Please note that there are some rules for this task; each character may only be written about (used as the muse) once, and it must be posted with the other mun’s approval of their character being used, and of the finished product. In addition, their character may not write about yours. For example, my character is Bob, and Bob is writing this task about his AU-type interaction with Joe. I, as Bob’s mun, must have permission from Joe’s mun to use him as the other character. I must also send them the final thing before it is posted, and have their permission to post it publicly (to make sure they think it makes sense with how their character would look/act/interact). Once it is posted publicly and tagged accordingly, no one else may post about their character’s interaction with Joe for this task, and Joe’s mun may not write about an interaction with Bob, my character, for Joe’s task. ((Highly recommended you put the other character’s name in the title!))

This task must be 25 sentences minimum, and will be worth 500pts. It will be due by Wednesday, June 22nd 2016 at 11:59pm EST; please tag it as SHRPGTASK21 if you wish to receive points!!
