Just to put some things into perspective from white fans who don’t get it…If Alderman Fenwick or Tom Anderson or any of the white people Louis was with decided that they didn’t want to fuck with him anymore, they could’ve carried him out to a forest, lynched him, took a picture with them smiling next to his corpse and used it as a postcard the next day and nobody would care. They could’ve gone to the police and said “Louis De Pointe Du Lac threatened me” and the cops would’ve killed him and left him in a ditch. The fact that some white fans don’t understand why Louis is doing what he’s doing or why he’s depressed or suicidal is disturbing because this was and still is the reality for black people. If you can’t watch a fictional show and wrap your head around Louis’ blackness and how he’s treated because of it and what he has to do to move through society because of it then you gotta stop watching the show and pick up a book.
You can not go into this show with a colorblind lens. You have to think outside of yourself and take his race and the time period into account.
Major Update
I posted this one my FFNET account but I'll add it here. For the people who've read my fic, Seasons of a Witch.
"Hey guys!
I know it's been a while and this isn't the update many of of you probably want to see but I do have something important to say.
Since I started this fic, I've grown as a perso writer. I'll admit that my reluctance to continue is because I've written myself into a corner and ideas I had before don't quite make sense. Not to mention I feel that I could have executed certain plot points better.
Therefore, I've decided for rewrite the entire thing. It wouldn't be such a drastic rehaul but I need to fix some stuff and then I can continue. Once I'm done editing, I'll post the few chapters up.
I am grateful for all the reads and comments I have gotten so far and for welcoming me into this Fandom all those years ago.
Zoe."
Long story short, I'm rewriting Seasons of a Witch and editing heavily and also posting it on AO3.
I kind of love that one of Jane Austen's biggest fans was the Prince Regent (later George IV). She didn't think very well of the nobility in general, but she motherfucking hated him, a wastrel who very flagrantly cheated on his wife.
But he loved her writing, was the first recorded purchaser of Sense and Sensibility, and kept copies of her books in all his residences. She never made enough from her writing to live on during her lifetime, so this wasn't support she could casually toss aside. His librarian kept suggesting ideas for new books to her, which she turned down with exquisite politeness. Much to her aggravation, she found herself obliged to dedicate Emma to the man.
Local Novelist Is So Talented She Can't Beat Royal Patron Off With A Stick
You can read more about this here
I've thought about it and this is so funny because a moral novelist having to civilly endure being patronized by a dissolute nobleman who loves but also totally doesn't get her books is exactly the kind of thing that would happen in a Jane Austen novel.

I’ve seen the Ursula K LeGuin quote about capitalism going around, but to really appreciate it you have to know the context.
The year is 2014. She has been given a lifetime achievement award from the National Book Awards. Neil Gaiman puts it on her neck in front of a crowd of booksellers who bankrolled the event, and it’s time to make a standard “thank you for this award, insert story here, something about diversity, blah blah blah” speech. She starts off doing just that, thanking her friends and fellow authors. All is well.
Then this old lady from Oregon looks her audience of executives dead in the eye, and says “Developing written material to suit sales strategies in order to maximize corporate profit and advertising revenue is not the same thing as responsible book publishing or authorship.”
She rails against the reduction of her art to a commodity produced only for profit. She denounces publishers who overcharge libraries for their products and censor writers in favor of something “more profitable”. She specifically denounces Amazon and its business practices, knowing full well that her audience is filled with Amazon employees. And to cap it off, she warns them: “We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Very often in our art, the art of words.”
Ursula K LeGuin got up in front of an audience of some of the most powerful people in publishing, was expected to give a trite and politically safe argument about literature, and instead told them directly “Your empire will fall. And I will help it along.”
We stan an icon.
The writer who radicalized me… :)
I think there's a real tragedy in the way straight men don't see themselves the same way that people who are attracted to men see them. If you ask a straight man to describe what an attractive man looks like, there's very little variety - the masculine male ideal is tall, broad-shouldered, square-jawed with a cleft chin and built of sculpted muscle. The stereotypical image of an Alpha Male, someone whom he could respect, and envy.
And sure, there are plenty of women, gay men and people of all sorts who are attracted to to this specific type, even exclusively attracted to it, there is so much more variety in this, both in the tastes and their subjects.
The stereotype of "hot wife, ugly husband"-couples was drawn from the observations of straight men, from their own perspective. Women going after men that men find unattractive makes no sense to them, and they figure that women are willing to overlook being ugly if a man's funny, smart or rich enough. If a woman insists that she's attracted to a specific man who isn't attractive by their standards, they'll assume that she's lying.
The tragic part is when a man who believes himself to be ugly grows bitter over this, developing a foul personality which people do find repulsive, and then uses their repeated experiences of being romantically rejected as proof that they're physically unattractive, insisting that surely women would overlook his heinousness if only he was tall and muscular enough, and had the right bone structure. The self-feeding vicious cycle of being a bitter incel is born.
The thing about "ugly men with a good personality can still be attractive" is that they're usually not even ugly. Some people do genuinely find fat and hairy men, thin and delicate men, short men and feminine men attractive. There's as much variety as in cheese, you can't compare aura to brie. And just like in cheese, as long as you're not toxic, somebody's into that. You just need to find the right wine to compliment it.

a relationship should be mutually beneficial. he kills my enemies and i lick the blood off him afterwards.
I will not beg you for your time or try to convince you to choose me, the world is too big and I have too much to offer.
we put your girl of color in the fandom and they made her a big buff amazon mommy with a hair trigger temper. yeah she only exists to attend to the emotional needs of and/or step on a dainty white lady character now. sorry.
we put your girl of color in the fandom and they made her a completely oblivious ditzy moron who relies on her white partner to do everything up to tying her shoes and performing basic addition. sorry.
we put your girl of color in the fandom and they made her a bitchy “mean lesbian” so she doesn’t interfere with her love interest’s popular white guy x white guy ship. maybe if you’re real lucky she’ll cheerlead for them whilst tucked away in the background or something. yeah she doesn’t really exist outside of that. sorry.
we put your girl of color in the fandom and they made her the übersensible Sole Brain Cell Mom Friend. yeah she only exists to scoff at the antics of all these quirky white boys and attempt to herd them like cats now. pack their lunches and make sure they get to bed on time and maternally mother motherly down the stairs and all that. sorry.
we put your girl of color in the fandom and despite being a main character i guess they just kind of pretend she doesn’t exist? maybe she’ll be mentioned in passing once or twice. sorry.
Me with my non canon/non endgame ships: pretends that they’re endgame and living happily ever after
for anyone who cares, i've got three fics to update soon.
For anyone still reading my Klonnie fics, Au Volant is the first update coming up!
reblog and put the name of the song you last listened to in the tags
I rewatched Tyler’s wolf transition scenes for some notes on a fic. I know its been said countless times before but Michael Trevino really sold those scenes. It’s so painful to watch him act those scenes but their still . No one was doing wolf transitions like he was. Which makes me so sad we never get to see that wolf storyline through him. Then he dies so early in life and that ends his bloodline. He deserved so much better than what he had gotten.
