Tom - Star dance from the new sneak peek. Did this happen in the past when they met? Is this in the present and a sign of new earthquakes shaking the ships state? Who knows. I hate Disney.

Not really an analysis of the video, more like pointing out some details: first of all, it’s hard to tell whether this is happening in the present, thus meaning that Star’s feelings are still ridicolously confused, or it’s in the past, showing us how Star and Tom met. No elements is telling: Star is dropping those pink Butterflys while dancing, and that might be a sign of a certain level of magic, so it might be in the present

at the same time, this looks like an official event (Moon calls it the “Silver Bell Ball”), and from the Guide book we know that there has already been, in Star’s past, some pressure for her and Tom to be together (remember that the Guide is supposed to have been written shortly after Bon Bon The Birthday Clown)

As for the other people in the room, they are noble families from the rest of Mewni: people from Garbage Beach, maybe? And are the other ones Waterfolk? Then what about the nobles in the last pic?

Tom’s mom and Tom’s dad (is he a Mewman, or some demons just look like that? Are Brian and Mr. Candle demons?

If we consider that clip as a flashback then the blood moon ball episode suddenly makes a lot more sense. It's possible that what Tom really cared about wasn't the blood moon, but the chance to dance with Star again in the hopes of it being as magical as the first time ("That dance was meant for me."). The fond memory of their first dance is probably what prompted Star to say yes to going to the ball too ("This is a different kind of fun."). Kinda makes me feel more sorry for Tom in hindsight.

While I think it’s still early to be sure about when the scene takes place, this makes sense, and it makes me feel sorry for Tom as well.Poor Tom.One more reason (beyond Starco, obviously) to hope that this is not in the present, leading his feelings to be hurt once again now that he, apparently, had moved on.

Things I’d Like To See With Tom’s Character in s3

If Tom gets a bigger role in s3, there’s alot i’d like to see done with him.

Tom actually crying (I hate seeing him suffer but him showing an emotional breakdown due to holding and repressing his emotions might be good to see with his character)

Tom being a supportive friend to Marco and/or Star.

Tom giving advice and showing maturity

Tom being hugged and comforted.

Tom fighting

Tom being genuinely happy

Tom sticking up for himself and controlling his emotions.

Tom protecting his friends.

Don’t waste Tom’s character, he’s great.
