This afternoon, I said goodbye to my best friend of 17 years. I am shredded. Just, wholly devastated. He came into my life at a time when I was lost and having trouble finding my place in the world. He taught me true unconditional love and patience. He made me a better, more responsible, more compassionate human and, for that, I am forever indebted to him. During life’s darkest moments, he brought me sunshine and light. When I was scared or feeling insecure, he was there to comfort me and remind me I was never alone. He was brave and fearless and too smart for his own good. He was silly and anxious and sassy (all traits he got from his momma). He was a goober and a goofball and would do ANYTHING to make me laugh. More than most, he LOVED rotisserie chicken and going for long golf cart rides. My favorite thing, the thing I will always carry in my heart, is the way he would lay his head on my chest and snuggle in real close, anytime I held him. There aren’t enough words to describe what he meant to me or how much I love and miss him. I don’t know what to do next... I literally have no idea what adult life is like without him at my side.
