I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume these guys mean like the 25th century and are totally unaware that Discovery, Starfleet Academy and Short Treks have already moved things up the the 32nd century and "Calypso" is set in the 42nd😂

I am DONE with the "farther than ever!" nonsense. I don't WANT centuries and millennia from now. I would love to see a TOS or TNG series set in that time period where they explore a different part of the galaxy. Like SNW could have been if they hadn't gone off the deep end of silly. Why? Because there is a point past which we just have no idea what the future will look like. We can't even guess, and no amount of CGI/special effects/AI is going to be able to make that believable. TOS and TNG were believable because the basis for many of the tech things were in place or at least feasible at some foreseeable point--satellite communications, space travel, computer systems, holograms, and dare I say it, a world were people weren't killing each other because of greed and racism and prejudice. But I do not see how setting something other than post-apocalyptic nonsense and horrors in the 45th and a half century would work. Discovery, as much as I liked it, was already stretching it.
