[Tweet by nashwa (verified): Thinking of Angela Davis saying “I have a hard time accepting diversity as a synonym for justice. Diversity is a corporate strategy.& “diversity w/o structural transformation simply brings those who were previously excluded into a system racist, misogynist, as it was before”
Tweet by The Hill (verified): #BREAKING: Biden announces all-female White House communications team
Reply tweet by Wendi Muse: it’s going to be so heartwarming to see women who look like me walk up to the podium to lie and cover up for what the administration will do to us
Tweet by The Washington Post (verified): Biden hires all-female senior communications team
Reply tweet by nashwa (verified): glass ceiling feminism from its outset is grounded in hierarchies.
Tweet by Kevin Gosztola (verified): Neera Tanden, who is Biden’s pick for OMB director, is an ardent opponent of Medicare For All.
Tweet by Maya Harris (verified): It’s gonna be women saying “excuse me, I’m speaking” all the time and I’m so here for it! 🔥
Reply tweet by Brandy Jensen: “excuse me, i’m speaking. no you cannot have healthcare.” More 👏 women 👏 in 👏 power 👏 denying 👏 people 👏 adequate 👏 healthcare
Tweet by Invest in Communities: Folks really hate Neera and it’s just … misogyny.
Reply tweet by sanction kills: Neera is an unapologetic imperialist and is anti-union. She supports policies that are anti-human and anti-worker. Anybody who truly cares for the working people and the oppressed around the world would hate Neera, Joe Biden, and all imperialists and settler-colonialists.
Highlighted text from a document: Other emails show Tanden arguing that Libyans should be forced to turn over large portions of their oil revenues to pay the US for costs incurred in bombing Libya, on the ground that Americans will support future wars only if they see that the countries attacked by the US post for the invasions.
A political cartoon: A Middle Eastern man and woman are standing by the mountains as planes drop bombs overhead. The man is saying “they say the next ones will be sent by a women.” The woman is saying “really makes you feel like your part of history.”
A quote by Angels Davis: Feminism involves so much more than gender equality and it involves so much more than gender. Feminism must involve consciousness of capitalism (I mean the feminism that I relate to, and there are multiple feminisms, right). So it has to involve a consciousness of capitalism and racism and colonialism and post-colonialities, and ability and more genders than we could ever imagine and more sexualities than we ever thought we could name.]

As recently as three weeks ago Google had an image search function that let you search by type of Creative Commons license, so finding free to use/no attribution required images was so easy. Now it looks like they’ve sabotaged that function and limited it to just Creative Commons/Commercial and my job has suddenly become exponentially harder.
goodbye Google hello Bing
stock image websites are useless to me because they never ever seem to contain images of the correctly-identified species
If you’re looking specifically for photos of animals or plants, the iNaturalist website allows you to sort image results for a species by license. I use it constantly for my bug blog content.
[kisses you evilly] thank you so much for telling me this
good time to mention, if you use inaturalist, you can change your image licensing under account settings, under content and display!
i /think/ the default is attribution non commercial but im not 100% positive. I have all of mine set to no copyright/public domain. the licenses change how accessible your images potentially are for researchers or people like @glumshoe. CC0 is hands down the most accessible, but a lot of people dont prefer it for their own content because there is no requirement for attribution and people can use your content for anything. If that doesnt bother you, and you really want your images to be available for people to use, CC0 is a good choice - i changed mine from attribution to CC0 because my sister said that she found a lot of people prefer that license for its accessibility.
on the page where you can set your license, it gives you information about what they all mean so you can make the choice you like best.
Reblogging for the last addition - it is SUPER helpful if you submit your photos to iNat AND make them available for sharing.
