Spider Bro AU
An AU where Izuku Midoryia from MHA was adopted by the Parker’s in NYC and was raised along with Peter as brothers!!
Yknow the lil fanfic trope where a character, usually non-human, purrs like a cat. In this case it would obviously be Rocky but what if it was Grace instead hear me out-
Origin: Sylvia was raised in the chapel worshiping the twin gods of the sea and the moon— she idolized them until one day her priestess was murdered and prayed for help only to find what a prick the God of the sea turned out to be! But alas they have made a deal, and she is desperate to get some revenge. Along their adventure they run into Usagi from a fishing village nearby— that the God fancy’s. Despite finding herself becoming the third wheel— they both become admirable friends as she was able to gain revenge for her predecessor.
After years she still stays in contact with Usagi who became a high priest as well— eventually when ready becoming one designated for the Sea God, which Sylvia then will be turned over to the God of the moon. Little do they all know in time, the Moon will ask for her help…. Preparing for a war in the heavens.
God/worship: became a high priest to the twin gods— assigned to first Leonardo then swapped to Donatello (ref sheet) due to favoritism lmao
Species: half human half angelic (custom by @/alexthenerdbird <3)
Type of angelic: Cardinal (BlueJay)
Class: Paladin
Origin: was born and raised in a city called Owlcrest. the species of Angelic are known to be vain and self absorbed, to the point where they dominate and belittle everyone around them. This doesn’t give a good reputation for half Angelics, which gave Jay a very hard upbringing in life, neither belonging with the normal world or in the Angelics. The 2 people in her life that helped her become who she is today was her mother and a human paladin who was her mentor/father figure. He taught her everything she knew, but was executed for standing for what was right. Rightfully outraged with this Jay worked hard to become a Paladin of justice and joined the rebellion to take down the government for the injustice it caused among the people she cares for dearly.
Hello everyone this is a doodle/art dump!! (And guess who watched Project Hail Mary lol not me nope!)
The first is project Hail Mary ofc, then there’s searching for a world that doesn’t exist, then we got some OCs :3 I love them, and then some vent art (I’m ok) and then a diy coloring page of wolfwalkers!!! Very proud of these (including Rocky)
Ya’ll I’m so sorry for the instant spam of notifs for those who have it on I’m reorganizing stuff and making masterpost’s ahskahdkjd AGAIN SORRY IN TRYING TO POST STUFF AGAIN I PROMISE
Links to music and some of my thoughts below the cut
Music
I admit that this song doesn't fit quite as well as the last one did, but it's still pretty good. The theme of fire in the lyrics could elude to the burning electric sensation. The "on my way" bit could refer to Sonic and (to some extent Shadow) finding their way to what they want.
Editing
I used many of the same techniques when editing this one. One change I tried making was to give the art more room, by making the lyrics smaller than in the previous AMV. The font (Century btw) and typewriter animation stayed the same. I also used sketches and single-color art for the verses and multi-color art for the chorus like I did in the last one. I tried including one piece from every blog I could find. Sorry if I missed your post.
Note: If your art is in this video and you don't want it to be, let me know. My DMs are open.
Don't worry about being burnout on drawing and take your time!, I'll admit I've been missing your sonic fan arts but as someone who does art (and also used to be in the transformers fandom before I left because of toxic drama but that's a whole different story 😭) I understand not feeling inspired to do any drawing. Just hope that you're doing okay 🙂
Man I appreciate you sfhogerhj we’ll see where life takes me and all
And I am doing ok rn dw things have been going very well for me shdjdhdjdhkff just stressing about stuff and needing a hyperfixation bad fr
What happened to the "help me understand" comic? Any chance on that getting another part?
Iiiiiiii honestly have no idea lol sorry
I’ve been in a hyperfixation-less funk for almost a year now and uh
My iPad finally decided it was its time 💀 (had since 2018 big oof)
I want to get back to drawing and such but idk if I can even at this point
I’m debating on getting back on transformers though and might get back on some comics I haven’t finished on Sonic as well, we’ll have to see— I also have DC superhero stuff I’ve been wanting to post.
Need to revive my tumblr fr, thanks for the ask <3
i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
James Gurney is an absolute master and gives really good clarity on colour techniques. Yes, it is traditional paint focused, but the principles are the same. Yes it is informed by the environmental colour but as a painting technique it is achieved this way!
I would also suggest that in digital processing, rather than apply a regular colour layer at a mid opacity, try out the different types of layers, Eg. Screen or Multiply. This can give you at least a starting point to help direct your colour palette.
Layer Blend Modes are so so so important to working in digital art. There's a ton of math that goes into figuring out how the layers should blend together, which is why some of the modes you can pick are literally called Multiply, Add, Divide, and Difference (that's subtraction). The graphics software takes the color values of your base and blend layers and runs a calculation to get your resulting layer appearance. The ones that don't have specifically mathematical sounding names are still doing calculations, but they're more complicated (think linear Algebra and higher). Some of them, like dodge and burn, are named for actual photo editing techniques.
While it's not super important to know about the mathematical side of blend modes, I think it's worth knowing at least enough about how each of the categories of blend modes works and why they do what they do; if for no other reason than having a starting point when you start experimenting with them in your work.
An overview of the basic blend modes and how they work from Genevieve's Design Studio: Accessible with minimal color knowledge; practical and illustration focused. https://youtu.be/kMc87hQrJd0?si=TWCB365pKSfWS8p0. (16 minutes) This creator also has a ton of free resources you can download, including a Blend Modes cheatsheet, but fair warning: you have to create an account to get them!
Want to learn even more about the math-y stuff? It has great film visuals! A video from FilmmakerIQ: You need some basic knowledge of RGB color models, understanding of values/luma, and at least a tenuous understanding of Algebraic formulas.
