An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Ignorance is bliss. Unfortunately for James, his ignorance gets shattered on one fateful morning when he suffers the horrible realization that he’s in love with his best friend. Afraid of ruining their friendship, he decides to conduct a series of experiments to determine whether there’s a chance Sirius might reciprocate the pesky feelings multiplying in James’ chest. As one might expect, nothing goes according to plan, but somehow, James ends up finding exactly what he needs. Task failed—successfully? ***
Sirius takes another whiff, zeroing in on James, “What is it you’re brewing again?” “Nothing unusual.” Nothing like obsession in a bottle. “Finish the thought. Smells like mom’s roast, motor oil, and? And what?” “And licorice,” Sirius says without missing a beat, taking a step back. “But I hate licorice,” James blurts out, his entire body sagging with disappointment.
Daily Prongsfoot Challenge - Day 4 : Accompany
content: james pov, modern muggle au, soccer players, preslash crush, pining, tattoo appointment, holding hands, whimpering, dacryphilia, public boner
James’s first mistake was agreeing to go with for Sirius’s tattoo appointment. But in his defense—you know what, actually there’s no defending his actions.
He’d agreed, because, well, it’s Sirius. And he’s James. James would go anywhere for him, do anything he asks. He’s just a good friend like that. Definitely no other reason. But when Sirius strips his shirt off almost immediately after they walk through the shop’s door? Let’s just say being a good friend gets significantly…harder.
Quidditch ritual or else potter gets insane bad luck (jk)
First post, not sure if anyone’s gonna see this.😉
"remus has a twin" this and "remus and romulus" that well what about sirius black's twin brother hilarius what about him
When James asks for permission to propose to Sirius, Regulus doesn’t need to think about it.
He just says no.
(James does it the next day. It was more an FYI anyway.)
Me and the bad bitch I pulled by being a good dog
james is invitingly handsome, sirius is intimidatingly handsome
Harry's Best Parent - Clearly only one answer
Every time I see a Reddit Post about Harry's best parent and it lists anyone other than Sirius Black, I'm like - the fuck books were you reading?
Dumbledore made it damn clear that he was NOT raising Harry. He didn't even talk to the kid for the first 12 years of his life and had 1 conversation per year until he was setting him up to take over control of a war at 17. He didn't raise him.
Hagrid constantly needed Harry and the trio to be there for HIM not the other way around. Like - can we be serious here? The man let 11 year olds get in trouble for helping him, sent Harry to the Giant Spiders so that "they would understand the story", put the onus of the Buckbeak thing on the kids, didn't help Harry with the tournament at all (HE ONLY HAD HARRY FOLLOW HIM TO THE DRAGONS THAT HE KNEW ABOUT BECAUSE OF JUNIOR), Put the pressure on the Harry/Hermione to take care of his giant brother, etc... like if anything the trio were raising Hagrid, not the other way around.
Remus wasn't around for MOST years - barely took an interest (that Harry to push him for) in third year. Said NOTHING in book 4, only showed up because of Dumbledore in Books 5 and 6... like lets be real. He didn't raise Harry.
The Weasleys - Molly, especially - are seen as "raising Harry" but let's be real, they never sent him letters, never showed him support in any way as he struggled. He spent a total of 16.5 weeks (about 4 months) in TOTAL in ALL of the books. And she didn't raise him - he said in Year 2 because he had to be BROKEN out of and the Weasley do nothing. After he saves Ginny's life, they don't do anything but send him back to that house and only see him 1 day that summer. They knew about the dragons and did nothing - when he was struggling with the tournament, no letters, no comfort. They didn't even talk to the Dursleys until AFTER Sirius died. They were good as his best friends' parents, but they didn't raise him.
Sirius, on the other hand, his FIRST thought after escaping was to check on Harry. He watches over him in Year 3 (and probably year 4). He provides him with what he needs - the threat of him saves Harry the trouble with the Dursleys - when he can't give him the home he wanted to give him. He writes to him, gives him advice, listens to him like a PARENT does. He is the *only* person when Harry thinks "parent" he thinks Sirius in year 4. 2 months and he's already "a parent" despite Harry knowing Lupin, Hagrid, and the Weasleys for longer.
That says alot.
there’s a dispute after an order meeting over whose cloak is whose and Remus just picks up one and smells it without thinking and goes ‘this belongs to Sirius’. the entire room stares at him in silence
Harry sniffs it too and is like "oh yeah that's definitely Sirius's" and everyone stares at him too.
Remus also staring at Harry, cause Remus has the werewolf nose and can distinguish just about anyones scent, but Harry is meant to be a normal human
i reject your downgrade of a headcanon fanon schmanon short, scatty, stupid to the point of illiteracy, puerile, narcissistic libertine, manic pixie dream boy, eighties wildchild, hapless, hysterical drama queen, occasional punching bag, insecure puppy sirius black
i’d much rather have tall, sharp, handsome, haughty, powerful, intelligent, traumatised—as if to the manner born, and canon spawned—protective, parental, loyal to a fault, tendency to callousness, slightly contumacious, complex man of multitudes, indifferent to attention unless it’s a potter sirius black who spat in the face of blood supremacy, defied his family, and quietly bore the brunt of suspicion and misjudgement, thanks
I sometimes feels like James and Sirius are often compared/written like Fred and George, but with a different hair color and somewhat gayer — something about them being "pranksters", I think.
But to me, this part of their personalities feel so different. It doesn't seem like it comes from the same place either.
Fred and George read as uncaring about school beyond what they can use for their ambitions, and they are, indeed, mischievous and shown enjoying tormenting jokes and pranks alike. They're very much the class clowns. (Which is why I have doubts they're as universally beloved at school that the books make you believe; they are fun, yes, but they can also be pretty annoying, especially for someone studious. See: Percy & Hermione.) And while they are undoubtedly very creative, I wouldn't specially call them extremely smart or gifted. I do think they work for what they do and create, and it's impressive on its own! Tbh their creativity already set them apart considering how... bland... the wizarding world is lmao. But yeah — they seem to have been mischief makers from day one (re: Ron's childhood stories), and they don't care about school beyond what interested them (very valid of them lmao). They delight in creating chaos and it's very much their goal in life.
But it's not at all how I read James and Sirius (even more so Sirius, as he's the one we see more on page). To me, they don't seem like they don't care about school or they note, to start with; they're simply bored. Unchallenged. School is too easy — they're too bright, they understand things too easily, take your pick. They're very much this person who doesn't study or barely reread their notes just before the test and you know they're still going to have a better grade than you. Absolutely infuriating (affectionate). Their mischief comes from being bored; it reads to me as if they're constantly trying to push the limits of what they can and or should do (re: becoming Animagi as teenagers, the whole Marauders Map supposedly impossible to create). They're experimenting. Tbh I don't even feel like they would prank people (especially not Sirius). They're very much the type to have their own private little club with their own inside jokes and don't seem to care about what other people think either. I guess James seems to enjoy getting attention, but it doesn't seem like he craves it either (except from Sirius and Lily lmao). It's just a nice little bonus.
I feel like I lost the plot a little bit euejjdje Anyway!!! They feel so different to me. I'm having Thoughts™.
Cuck chair? No this is the director's chair. Cut! Where is the passion, guys? Try thinking of me
