“Finn, there’s nothing here but rocks and trees,” Kasey groaned as he hoisted himself up the mountain. His breath ragged and uneven from the longer than long hike Finn hastily convinced him to going on. Something about feeling a presence he hadn’t felt in a long, long time.
“Were almost there Kasey, please just a little further,” he tiny harvest sprite fluttered his wings as he pushed as hard as he could at Kasey’s back.
“Yeah, sure, a little further is easy for you to say. You’ve flown the whole way up here.” He shivered, pulling his coat tighter around his neck, feet tromping none to quiet into the patchy rock and dirt below. “Do you know how many rocks I got hit by just climbing up this damn thing…”
His breath heaved as he rounded a rather large boulder, hand resting against it as he stopped for a short breather. It was then that a voice ripped through the quietness of the mountain top. Head shot up and eyes widened as he met gazes with a quite tall man. Hair as red as lava cascaded down his shoulder in a long braid. Whoever he was he seamed quite…flashy.
An elated gasp echoed behind him and Finn quickly zipped past his companion. “Harvest King!” He hollered, tiny arms flailing as he hurried up to the mans chest. “I though you were gone forever, when did you wake up?”
By now Kasey’s breath was caught in his throat for a reason other than being physically wiped. ‘K-King?’
Ignis stared at the fairy in a mixture of surprise and pleasure. It had been a long time since he had last seen Finn, and it was reassuring in it’s own way. In a way it made him believe that not everything had changed on him, that maybe parts of the world he remembered where still lingering, waiting for him to discover them. And having Finn appear before him made him feel a little less lonely in the world.
Smiling slightly at the fairy, he reached out to gently hold the fairy to his chest. It was rare that he touched anyone, but for an old friend he allowed himself to make an exception. After all, after spending over a hundred years of sleep he needed some form of connection with another creature.
“ Finn, “ his voice was warm with welcome as he released the fairy. “ It’s been too long. Incredibly so if you believed me gone for good. I’ve been awake only briefly. I was not aware that I had been asleep for so long. “
He turned to the mortal standing a few feet away and let his smile grow slightly. “ I believe I offered food and drink. The offer continues to stand if you wish for either. And I believe I can add in a place to sit and rest. “
