how it all feels lately
Every work of art says things the creator hasn’t considered, but if you’ve really thought about what you’re trying to say then generally the additional dimensions you didn’t know it had are in alignment with your purpose, whereas if you think you’re making no cultural comment at all you are actually making a LOT of cultural comments, most of which will be unflattering to you
Porn is one of the most culturally rich types of media imaginable so the answer is: you cannot do this
“I don’t want to make anything with cultural dimensions. That’s why I only write within the genre that is legally sequestered away from every other kind of storytelling because of my culture’s attitude towards depictions of sex.”
you can write porn for no other reason than Horny. you can read or watch porn for no other reason than Horny. but none of that will stop your porn from containing cultural commentary. just because you don't want to engage with the work on that level in that moment doesn't mean that level to the work doesn't exist.
O no being called a girl instead boy is so traumatic I hope you recover
it is actually, thank you for your concern 👍

Sleep should be refreshing and if it isn’t you should look into that tbh
When I suggest people go to the doctor for something a lot of them seem to assume I don’t know what it’s like to have doctors that don’t listen to you. Yeah I do actually. I still think you should go to the doctor.
Faux-transfeminism hits a new strange low in comparing transmascs pointing out our historical and ongoing erasure to flat earthers. Level with me here. Do you really want to make the argument that a minority’s oppression is a conspiracy theory. Are we really doing this
Dear all western trans guys:
Please DO be that 'obnoxious' guy who brings up non-western trans men whenever other westerners start talking about issues of transphobia and misogyny like we don't exist.
A lot of the time, the risks for us bringing it up ourselves is much greater than that of a fellow westerner. Or we may not even be invited to the table to be able to say anything. We genuinely do need others to speak for us.
They might call you 'obnoxious' or 'reaching' but in times like that please remember that we are not a rhetorical tool
Trans men in the global south are REAL PEOPLE. Bringing us up is never 'strawmanning' or 'missing the point' or any other stupid ass excuse because we are not an imaginary 'other'.
It is always a good idea to bring up global southern trans men. And DO NOT let them make you feel guilty about it

As a reminder, July is disability pride month! This pride month, I want us to especially think of:
Those with long-term/worsened disabilities because of their parents telling them to just work through it/get over it/"it's not that bad"
Those with disabilities stemming from childhood abuse
Those who know that they're disabled or suspect such, but can't get it diagnosed or checked out because of their parents/guardians disapproving
Those who know/suspect that they're disabled, but won't be diagnosed or checked out because they're "too young"
Those who struggle in or had to drop out of the harsh and mostly unaccommodating school system because of their disability or disabilities
Those who were lied to or not told they were disabled growing up so they could be raised "normal"
Those who have their privacy and autonomy violated as a combination of being disabled and being a child, as both of those groups are seen as not deserving their autonomy
Those who are disabled or had their disability (or disabilities) worsened because of the school system pushing them too far
Those who feel that they can never be one of the "normal" kids and that they'll always be isolated because of their disability or disabilities
Disabled folks who don't know or didn't know much about their disability as a kid because doctors would only explain to the parents/caretakers and no one bothered to talk to you
All disabled children having to deal with the intersectuality of being oppressed by both ableism and adultism.
Happy disability pride month and please start treating children and disabled people with basic respect and dignity!! They are autonomous beings! Act like it!
You know, when I've remarked that a lot of the responses to my posts feel like people are just plucking out keywords they think they recognise based on the shape of them and replying to what they imagine the post says based on that, the possibility never occurred to me that this is actually how many American schools are currently teaching kids to read.
Like, my assumption this whole time has been that when folks go "I misunderstood this post that says [thing] as saying [unrelated thing] because I mistook [word] for [completely different word that happens to start with the same letter]", that was a bit. What do you mean they're teaching kids a reading method that's tailored to produce this exact error?
Three cueing. Once you learn about it, a whole lot of very frustrating online discourse with US Americans makes so much sense 😭
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have
If you were taught to read with the three cueing method, and now struggle to read fluently, you can still learn to read properly!

If you're a teenager, you can still use this resource.

I mean, that’s censorship but okay.

Happy disability pride to dissociative people, those with personality disorders, people with schizophrenia, and everyone elsewise labelled ‘insane’ and ‘crazy’ by annoying assholes. I hope you all have a pleasant & comfortable July and beyond
"Why do you talk so much about being intersex?"
Over 90% of parents of visibly intersex children opt for cosmetic surgery on their infants.
The ones that don't experience medical violence then, likely experience it as a teenager.
I didn't.
I am very rare in that I did not experience medical violence.
Why? Because I learned what intersexuality was as a young age, and I actively fought against what doctors wanted to do to me. All the way down to legal research on what medical care minors can be forced into. I remember walking into that doctor's appointment with the state law written down that proved that if I did not consent they could not do surgery.
That is why intersex activism is important. It saved me and it will save more.
A history and mythology lesson reminding you that trans and non-binary people have always existed! [Long post]
Hey does anyone remember when a transgender adult man with cerebral palsy got top surgery of his own accord and then posted about it in celebration, and then transphobes:
Lied and said he was non-verbal
Lied and said he was incapable of communication
Lied and said he had not gotten the surgery of his own accord
Lied and said his "guardians decided [he] was trans"
Got MGT to call a procedure done on a consenting adult "criminal" just because he had cerebral palsy
Mass reported his video and his account, which he ran, until facebook terminated his account for "child exploitation" despite it being his account, him being an adult, and him not being exploited
Ableism and transphobia are inseperable. Just like ableism was used to prop up bigotry throughout history, now it is being used to deny transgender people bodily autonomy the same way it is used to deny disabled people bodily autonomy. It's not a coincidence that so much of the rights transphobic rhetoric is focused on labelling us as "mentally ill". They don't think any disabled people, let alone mentally ill people should have independence or liberation.

this disability pride month, consider branching out. learn a bit about a disability you don’t know much about. donate to a charity for a condition that doesn’t affect anyone you know. speak up for and value the lives of the disabled people who are so isolated you’ll never meet them, people who are institutionalised or can’t go outside or speak or type. show some love to disabled strangers in any way you can.
