I decided to go back and read Ann Nocenti's incredible miniseries, and I was charmed even more by Longshot's character. She did an incredible job of keeping the ambiguity around his backstory without leaving the reader completely adrift. I was so thrown off by his appearance in the main line, and I wish that I had taken the time to read this beforehand. Highly recommend!

I know we kinda gloss over this era because Dick was miserable throughout it, but can we talk about how good of a Batman he was???

And even his interactions with Alfred are so. Fucking. Wholesome.

Dick makes me cry sometimes. He’s so good. It hurts me.
