Something Penelope didn't miss about her past life was surviving summers in so many layers, being able to wear thin fabrics and attire that not only showed your ankles but sometimes your thighs was a godsend. But nothing quite levelled up to being able to go to a pool in the hot weather and lounge around in swimwear before cooling off in the water. She had, however, become rather accustomed to sunblock after burning quite horribly her first summer in DC.
She had been swimming around the pool for a little while before she made her way to the edge directly in front of Colin's sunbed. "I know your skin browns a lot more successfully than mine, but are you going to come in the water for a bit or just tan all day?" she teased, attempting to splash him, unfortunetly the water didn't even reach his chair before splattering down on the floor.
A chuckle escaped his lips as Taggie wrapped her arms around him. His arms reached up to wrap around her back, squeezing her tightly for a few seconds before releasing her. "Why wouldn't I know who you are?" He asked shaking his head, subconsciously reaching up to tuck some stray hairs behind her ear. His eyebrows knit in concern when he saw her tears, "Aw, don't cry, Tags. Have you been stuck here a long time by yourself?" Declan questioned. "What have you been up to here? Why haven't you ever left?" He assumed there must be some reason, and he hoped the reason was good.
Taggie froze, unsure what to say about her meeting with Rupert, for fear of angering her father. "I have heard that some people end up here without memories of where they came from; they don't know the people in their lives, even family." She explained, it wasn't untrue, it was something she had worried about since she had learned this was possible. "Three years," she sighed, leaning into her dad's touch. It was so wonderful to see him again; she was starting to think she never would. "Nearly four," she added after a moment. "I started a new catering company, and it's actually been doing really well. I loved doing it in Rutshire; it's different here, but I've really loved building something of my own." She smiled before debating how to mention the next part to him. "Um, we can't leave the city. I don't actually know why, I just learned to make life here work for me."
@ofsvnlightt Vex and Gendry
Gendry made his way from the food cart, checking his phone as he went. There was an email order that had just pinged through that he was checking when he walked into someone. "Fuck, I'm sorry" he exclaimed as his coffee spilt slightly out of the hole in the top of the lid, splashing on the person's top.
Anthony was happy for Penelope and Colin, genuinely. If only he could start feeling the same way, then things would be alright. "I understand marriage is no longer an expectation in this location. I find that slightly...freeing." He admitted.
Penelople smiled at his words with a small nod, "It isn't a must anymore, no, and it is honestly rather a breaht of fresh air as a woman if not somewhat petrifying," she responded with a light chuckle. "I think it gives people a more fighting chance at finding someone whom they adore without having to marry for convenience or necessity."
(¸.• ♛ → she was really very exciting to do this here because this was new for her and she learned to do all of this here and she does believe that this could be something that she can do all her life, she feels passionate about all of this. a small laugh escaped from her lips when he said that, now giving him a small kiss. "maybe..." she says in a teasing tone. "but i believe i want something natural, i love those pictures."
a small smile was on her lips, walking next to him to the store. "yeah, true, but here at least we are alive and we are not living a horror movie, at least not much." she was hoping that, of course. she followed wally into the store while they put some things in the basket. "oh, maybe it could be where the fruit is? where the frozen stuff are?"
Wally nodded his head as she spoke, trying to comprehend what she was aiming for with her vision. "So how would we go about this?" he asked. "Do we go on a date or a day out, and you just take the camera, lounge around one of our apartments while you have the camera? Is there another way you would want to go about that?" He was curious about her joy for this; he knew from her that walking around the school had been something that Nicole had been interested in, but seeing how invested she was in this new path was great to witness.
Wally smiled down at her, eyebrows lifting slightly as he pursed his lips in agreement, "I have had enough of the hoor movie vibes in real life for a lifetime and an afterlife," He joked "Frozen you're on to something" He grinned guiding them there he scanned the shelf for a moment before letting out an over enthusiastic woop as he grabbed some frozen blueberries from the freezer. "I think we are all set now for some great pancakes," he enthused, almost bouncing in his step as they made their way to the counter to pay.
@displacedmuser || taggie "Taggie, is that you?" Declan asked, smiling when he saw his daughter. He rushed over to hug her, sighing and patting her hair down. He pulled away, "It's good to see you, a familiar face. This place has me a bit lost."
She heard his voice and felt her heart clench, a smile spreading over her features, "Dad" She exclaimed, running towards him, throwing her arms around his shoulders. "You're here! " And you know who I am", she felt her eyes begin to tear up with joy, at least someone from back home was here in their full capacity. "It's a lot," She agreed. "I've been a long time now, but it still throws me."
RIVALS - 2.02
What's Taggie short for? Agatha, isn't it awful? Tabitha's so much nicer.
At his calling them 'm'lady', Arya only blushed harder. "Gendry!" She exclaims, then shaking her head. She could only imagine how her sister, Sansa, would react if she knew that Arya had been so weakened by a man -- of all people. And she couldn't help but think that perhaps this was what her father would have wanted, an alliance like this between a Stark and a Baratheon. "Perhaps that means that you are more mature than I am, as much as I hate to say that." Since it was easier for him to admit his feelings, whereas Arya still struggled with it. "I do know it is safe for me to open up with you. You would not betray me."
"Okay, good." Arya nods. They tilt their head slightly, then nod again, as he brushes a strand of hair away from their face. "You make a good point, as you oft do." She smiles softly. "I can hardly believe we've known each other as long as we have -- it feels like only yesterday that we met, right after my father was killed." She sighs. "You are right, though. Things are... very different, here. I am still adjusting to it all."
He smiled seeing the colour on their cheeks, it would be a lie to say he didn't revel in the fact he was able to draw that kind of reaction. His smile turned to a smirk at the exclamation, "You know your reaction just makes it all the more tempting to say it," he pointed out with a chuckle. Though he knew not to push it for fear of his own life, or at the very least, keeping himself intact. "Well, in age I am somewhat," he pointed out. "but in many things I would say you have managed to gain quite the life experience, and you've gone through a lot more than anyone of your age ever should have, especially someone born to be a lady." He wasn't sure he would have been so interested in Arya if life had gone that route; however, it was exactly her spirit and intense will that made her so interesting to him. "I'm glad you know that, because I would go to the ends of the earth if you asked me to." He knew that was intense, and they might run at it, but it didn't make it any less true. He nodded at her agreement, as much as one day he may want to marry, he was in no rush in this world, especially if it scared them off. "Do I?" he laughed, it was very rare someone praised his words or way of thinking, many thought him simple. His heart clenched at the mention of the time they met. He didn't like to think of what Arya was going through at the time, considering what had happened and keeping those emotions hidden while the other boys taunted them. "Would have been a really fucking long day if everything we have both been through happened in a day," he laughed. "I think no matter how much you adjust, it will never really feel right. I'm just glad I can still use my blacksmith skills to make money. I don't think I would survive trying to do something else in this world."
"they cut you out of their life?" rupert questioned, his brows raising. "well, anyone that would just cut you out of their lives without an explanation doesn't deserve much thought, angel." he offered her a small smile. the smile on his face grew slightly, "well, she loves her horses and loves to name them. she might end up going with any food name for any horse that she gets." he admitted with a shrug of his shoulders. "would you like to go and meet the horse?"
"Something like that, yeah." She didn't have any idea how to explain it, obviously he hadn't done this by choice, and he wasn't going to know who she was, but that didn't mean he might not have cut her out had he still remembered who she was or even if they were back home. He was known for things being fleeting; why would she have been any different? In this world, maybe things would be less complicated between them, even if her memories and feelings for him were anything but. "I wish I were capable of not giving them much thought", she laughed without any true humour.
She couldn't help the laugh that escaped her "Well, food names are always a winner for me; I have never been able to name an animal myself; my parents always chose the names. Maybe if I had the chance, I would also go for food names. Shes very lucky to have a father who lets her name her horses," she smiled at Tabitha. Her memory flashed back to visiting the girl's horse at Helens house with the two of them. She didn't know if it was a good idea to go with them, but with how excited the little one looked, she couldn't bring herself to say no. "If you would like to introduce me, I would love that," she spoke to Tabitha, not Rupert, in that moment to help herself if nothing else.
"I've heard people saying that as well," they nodded at the others words. "it doesn't seem like a terrible place to be," he paused. "I think it's just getting used to it for me, I'm used to a lot of different things and they don't exist in this place." some of them he was glad to be rid of.
"I think it's pretty great at times, but also I wasn't able to get around much before I was here, so being able to fully live now has been a great change for me" He smiled not wanting to give too much away thinking telling someone he just met he used to be a ghost was a bit too far and could scare them, "what was your world like before you were here?"
"That is a shame." Though Anthony had a feeling that might be a blessing in a way. It was a harsh thought, but he was aware of how her family treated her back home. It wasn't his place to say something then, nor did he feel comfortable to say it here. "Fortunately you and Colin have connected."
"I can only hope they are doing well back home, but it has been nice finding my own way here in a world where a woman can be independent and strong on her own." though she had been trying to do this herself with whistledown back home, it was still frowned upon and she had to do so in the shadows, now she was celebrated when she did well at work. "It has been wonderful finding Colin again, having someone from home who I am so close to and who knows me so well has been extremely helpful, and I don't think I have been this happy before."
Harley smiled at the other, giving a nod. "Thank you, kind stranger. I'm glad someone gets it, I can handle my own!" She replied, a wicked smile spread across her face when the other said to break the mould. "I could just break their skulls with my good night bat. That might be way more fun!"
"look where I am from women were queens warriors and so much more, believe me there is nothing wrong with a power in a woman if anything it's impressive." He laughed "doesn't matter what's between your legs to be able to turn power towards good or bad" gendry couldn't help his laugh at her words thinking of his war hammer, "maybe try words first I hear killing has more of a life change for the one doing the deed of you're found out."
"i know we're strangers, but you can talk to me about it if you like." rupert offered, not sure why he even offered. he didn't know her, but for some reason he cared about whatever happened. he shook his head, his gaze focusing on his daughter. "maybe that's it." it was on the tip of his tongue to explain that he was surprised because she wasn't even this nice to her own stepmother, but for some reason he couldn't say it. the corners of his lips lifted as he watched taggie with tabitha. it was nice. "i believe this one is chestnut or butterscotch."
Taggie took a breath, looking up. How do you tell the man who doesnt know he's breaking your heart with every word what is affecting you without saying the truth? "Someone I thought I was very close to cut me out of their life. It's had a bit of an effect. You don't really realise the true level of meaning someone has in your life until they are gone." She looked down at her hands to avoid making eye contact with him. "Both brilliant names, though I will say as a chef I do enjoy the name butterscotch just a little more" She turned and smiled at Tabitha with a big smile "I hope that is okay"
Rocky says sorry and he hopes you haven't caught a chill. Why didn't you put a coat on, you plonker?

elio kingston & wally clark ( @displacedmuser )
elio had only been in the city for a week, or maybe more. they hadn't thought to keep count of how long it had been. he'd been too worried about trying to survive. "I don't understand this place,"
"It is a strange city, some of the people I have met are nothing like I have seen before." He took a moment looking around. "There has been some really freaky shit happening since I arrived at times, but it's not the worst place to be"
That didn't qualm his worries. If anything, it only stressed him out further. He wasn't one to let those types of emotions show in public, so he did his best to hide that from Penelope. "And your family? Is anyone here?"
"Felicity is her, but no one else that I am aware of at this moment. I do hope they are well" Penelope smiled slightly sadly, though in reality, maybe the space from her other sisters and mother had helped her become her own person in this new world somewhat more easily.
