My immune system: what the FUCK are those
My brain: ???? those are essential organs ?????
My immune system: well idgaf what they are them bitches getting fucked over
No matter how many nearly nude photo shoots Nick Jonas does, Iâm always just gonna kinda wonder how diabetes is going for him
iâm like âyeah your photoshoots are hot but whatâs your A1C???â
Me: *Googles âhands falling asleep no good reasonâ *
WebMD: is it cause you haveâ
Me: yeah, tell me i have cancer, i know, you always say that
WebMD: no actually i was going to say âis it cause you have diabetesâ cause that can be a diabetes thing
Me, someone with a diabetic blog, who talks about being diabetic and how it affects my mind, memory, relationships, flirting, and survival: âŠ.how did you know that
Diabetes culture is yelling âshut upâ at your pump, CGM, meter, etc. when they alarm- even when the information is important.
my immune system: what that
me: an organ i need to survive, why
my immune system: it would sure be terrible if someone were to⊠kill it
me:
my immune system:
me: fuck
me: I feel high I should check my bgl
my meter: yeah youâre high
me:
me, when my blood sugar is low
Normal people when I tell them my numbers are high: drink water! go for a run! give insulin! eat protein!
Me when my numbers are high: *sleeps for four hours after treating* insulin, do your thing
Me: talks about not wanting to spend (waste) carbs on things
Also me: eats 2.5 servings of cookies in like an hour
When your blood sugar is so low you canât see
made a t1d bingo for all my fellow diabetics out there! type 1 is a pain in the pancre-ass but weâre all in this together. feel free to reblog with your marked up cards :)
PSA for my nonbetic friends
Please feel free to:
ask me about my pump
ask me about my food preferences
ask me about glucose testing
ask me about carb counting
ask me about how high blood sugar feels
ask me about how low blood sugar feels
ask me about how you can help in emergency situations
ask me about all of the crap you constantly see me lugging around
ASK ME anything!
Please do not:
assume what I can and cannot eat (spoiler alert, I can and WILL eat that)
force yourself to look away when Iâm taking my medicine, even though you and I both know youâre curious
judge me for how much I am eating when Iâm low
try to educate me about ways to âcure or improveâ my illness
bring my weight into a conversation about why I have diabetes
tell me you get kinda shaky when you donât eat too
make jokes about getting diabetes from sugary foods
react in any sort of negative way if I have to take my insulin in front of you
REACT IN ANY SORT OF NEGATIVE WAY IF I HAVE TO TAKE MY INSULIN IN FRONT OF YOU

another positivity post for diabetics? heck yeah of course they all deserve the best!! here is a list of facts that are true about ALL diabetics (yes, that includes you, you wonderful human):
1. diabetics are incredible. they really are
2. diabetics are cool. you see those test strips? the mountains of juice boxes? all of the needle caps? insulin pumps? cgms? hardcore man. you guys are badass
3. diabetics work really hecking hard and they deserve a break every once in a while! but please donât give up!! I believe in you, weâve got this
4. diabetics? being literal rays of sunshine? I think the heck so!!
5. diabetics are so so strong. Iâm inspired by each and every one of you, youâre doing so well, I couldnât be more proud of you
6. diabetics are handy!! you bet they have everything you could ever need in their diabetes bag!! need a band-aid? hand sanitizer? pain meds? you bet ya we got it
7. diabetics are resilient!! continuing to do things despite feeling like your body is against you? wow Iâm impressed (but please remember itâs perfectly okay to take a well deserved break if you need it!!! take care of yourself, you precious human)
8. diabetics are so lovable!! they are loved and admired by so many people, myself included!
9. diabetics are creative!! the designs for insulin pumps, pens, cgms, and patches to secure things to your skin?? so cool!!!
10. diabetics are hecking cute and beautiful! those scars on your arms, legs, stomach, and/or back?? those are the stars that make up your own special sky. they tell the story of you made it, your making it, and you will make it
diabetics are just really amazing and I canât thank you all enough for being here. you deserve to live a good life. I know itâs hard to keep yourself going but you deserve the world, I believe in you. we can do this. thank you for your existence, I hope your life is as fantastic and awesome as you are!!
endocrinologist: ooh youâve been changing ur lancets!! thatâs good!!
me, breaking into a nervous sweat: haha yeah i uh, i sure have
âA medical professor who has tracked the cost of insulin over the years says that a one-month supply of a popular version that cost $45 wholesale in 2001 cost $1,447 14 years later, an increase of almost 3,000%. Â Thatâs the wholesale price, not the retail price that an uninsured patient would pay.â
Type one Diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks and kills the pancreas which is an organ that makes insulin. It can not be cured, can not be prevented and life choices and diet did not  caused it.
A person with T1D must in inject insulin  themselves every day or they will die because of this Pharmaceutical companies have raised the prices up on insulin to  ludicrous prices  because they know we NEED it or else we will DIE. So many diabetics suffer from other very serious medical conditions and many just plan freaking die because they canât afford their insulin, not to mention the prices for needles, syringes test strips and meters. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE DYING IN THE USA BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR A MEDICINE THAT WEâVE HAD SINCE THE 1960S
MY LIFE IS NOT YOUR PROFIT
