Probing.

That’s what her words felt like. Poking and prodding in hopes of finding a chink somewhere. Spinel nonetheless grinned, “I find that people who claim to be a ‘mere’ anything are the most interesting ones.” A travelling performer, was it? “Are you part of a troupe? Company? I know there’s sometimes those that have a circuit that go through various regions. The Cirque du Lune is quite popular in Kalos.” He remembered being fascinated by the shows once or twice when he was younger; almost demanded that he had a chance to join once upon a time.

Glad he didn’t take the dream, because he much preferred where he was.

Spinel didn’t acknowledge the statement about himself. If he wanted ‘to go out more often’, he would.

A chuckle.

"Oh no, no. None of those particular troupes or companies. I'm unaffiliated. Independent, if you will." She stated, bringing up a hand and gestured a few times as if waving the assumptions that she was affiliated with a musical group or company. "Going solo would have been a lie, since I essentially do have Pokemon with me." Sure, they would barely help on the instruments, themselves, but their presence alone does help her compose, from time to time.

"Though admittedly, I do more than just travel and perform. I also travel to... understand. To answer the 'whys' that keep being brought up at the back of my mind." She added, but did not elaborate further. Though, that would also certainly make it seem that she's the curious type... in which she definitely is. Though not exactly in a way that he probably would expect. Probably.

Heidi nodded. She took a small sip. "Nothing is ever easy, but I've always believed that, as long as we have each other, then this too shalt pass." Heidi smiled. Thinking of everything that she's been through and everything that she and her family worked to get there, it made her proud.

Heidi listened to Elysia's responses, as well as passively sensing her emotions. The emotions combined with the wording made her both curious and concerned. It was likely that this particular guest wasn't in quite as well of a situation.

"How is your world set up? Do you have any particular dynamics with your Legendary Pokémon, or with the residents in your world?"

It was partially a leading question, particularly considering Elysia's emotions related to hearing this world. Maybe Elysia's world was in a more unique situation than many of the others that she's heard.

The moment Heidi asked on how her world's structure was set up, Elysia would breathe in deeply. She can feel the rot just bubbling from the thought. After all, unintentional as it was, it was a loaded question for her.

"My world? Its a world that has... advanced." A pause. She didn't had the exact right words for it after all. Or rather, she can't even bring herself to say that it is a world that had essentially looked for something concrete, something immediate. Not something that they rarely ever see nowadays, like divinity such as her.

"Mortals and their innovation. You can't help but stare in wonder, the things they can achieve and build without any divine guiding hand these days." It is something she really did admired of mortals... and hated them for all the same.

Either way, she did made sure to be sparce on her words, lest the rot makes her use more loaded pointers. But at the same time, she still made sure that Heidi can paint a picture on what she meant.

"For example, Castelia City of Unova, on my world has seen immense development throughout the years. Not a fan on how it stratified, though, now having both Upper and Lower Districts. Though there's one certain cafe that I find solace in, every once in a while." That cafe certainly is always a good place to retreat to, every once in a while, whenever the rot just starts to peak and reach its boiling point. The owner's accommodating too, even if she does unknowingly have a literal god as one of her customers.

"As for my Pantheon...? Where would I even begin?" She stated, taking a long pause, before saying "Most of my Pantheon is fractured. Splintered, and have gone off to different regions across the world... and formed their own Pantheons. People from across each region started seeing them as symbols of worship, awe, and fear... At least for a time, until the world had to move forward." And now, even most of them are afflicted by rot, as well.

She missed the time when they were tightly knit; united. However, even that time came to an end, and also ended up in conflict. The Djinn made sure to wreak chaos so damning that it splintered the Pantheon even further, and multiple divine conflicts and wars broke out, often times also affecting the mortal world as well.

One particular conflict also ended up eventually pushing a certain mortal to create an Ultimate Weapon of mass destruction as a last resort.

"Part of me thinks that if I hadn't abandoned the Hall, abandoned my Throne, just to understand mortals more during their endeavors to advance and plant their seeds of development beyond the age of miracles and divine, that maybe I could have prevented things to end up fracturing as they were... But alas. Moving back to that exact time point and choosing differently would simply be just spitting at the face of everyone who made great efforts to shape the world as it is today... is it not?"

"Jasmine. Great choice." Heidi eventually returned with a kettle, some tea cups, and additional items like honey and sugar. She also used her telekinesis to also bring along two bagels and two swirl-like deserts. There were also small chocolate-covered candies shaped like Minior. Heidi placed them on the nearby table and sat nearby Elysia.

"I also brought some sweets that my Rayquaza and Eternatus made if you want some." Nergal isn't technically your Eternatus in this sense, Heidi, but sure. "The bagel's called Wishes of the Innocent. It's really sweet and filled with bits of different berries. This purple swirl is called Eternapocalypse. It's like a really tasty purple cinnamon roll. These candies... don't have a name, but the chocolate covering is made firm like a Minior Shell while the center's really fruity and chewy. You won't know what color it is until you bite into it, too~." Heidi giggled. The surprise factor is her favorite part. "Feel free to have some."

Heidi sat down and took one of the cups and one of the Eternapocalypse. She then took a bite, chewed, and swallowed.

"Overall, she really did. Granted, it hasn't been all perfect. We've had tragedies, hardships and trials over the years, but all of us shared her vision and we will do anything to keep it." She took a sip of tea. "Izanami... my predecessor... she was one of the kindest Arceus that I've ever met. She was like an adoptive mother to me before she died. She was a little... quirky at times, but she was kind, reflective, genuine, intelligent, forward-thinking, and so much more. Even after her reincarnation, she continues to show off how inspiring of an Arceus that she is. To this day, I hope that I could be even half as caring and loving as she is... to be the role model that this world needs and deserves. It's... not easy, especially for a little war-torn Latias like me, but I do my best every day to live up to her legacy."

Heidi's words were genuine and her emotions of gratitude and love struck true.

The hospitality definitely wasn't something she'd had in a long time. Or rather, from another like her in a sense, so this was definitely... something to take in. Either way, the Pathfinder would openly accept them, nonetheless. Still, to hear that the 'Sky Father' and the 'Titan' of this world seem to be in relatively alright, so much as to make way to them inventing these confections...

She pushed some thoughts to the back of her head, as she began to try them out. And... well, they're actually really good. and almost made her... wishful.

If only the Pantheon of her world hadn't split, hadn't fractured out, then maybe...

Either way, Elysia would be listening, taking every word in. A life eventful, this Latias had, that it sounded really bittersweet. And even if Heidi weren't to elaborate much, she can tell, no, feel just how much these events had changed her, shaped her, as well as how it would have shaped the others of this world's Pantheon as well.

Already, Elysia would sip some tea after pouring some from the kettle to her glass.

"Its not easy... Never is." She began. "Countless eras of strife, of struggle... of war and suffering. Be it minute hindrances, or drastic hardship. Nothing has been ever easy. Though I can say that you pulled through. And pulled through well, you have."

A pause, as Elysia took in the brief silence; to compose herself. Her, and the rot that bubbled.

"After all, despite how hard things can be, we can only move forward. Its something that a mortal from many eons past has showed me. The power of will, so to speak."

"Still, its nice to know that your world's Pantheon seems well-connected. Or well-acquainted, even, despite everything." She spoke, yet did not elaborate on it further. Yet part of her sounded nostalgically wishful when she said those words.

Heidi walked forward to the central altar. It was nice to have someone to shake things up a little, and in a calming way, too. The last thing she needs right now is to have another situation like her aunt blasting through her door again.

Just then, an elevator descended. Looks like there was plenty of space for both of them. Heidi hopped in, and once Elysia was in too, the elevator started going up.

"This world. We call it Elysium. 'Paradise' as my predecessor put it. We consider ourselves a community of integrated interests and one of refugees. There's all of the standard stuff here -- people, Pokémon, Legendary Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon -- but we also house many Legendary Pokémon and even humans from other dimensions. We're a big family, and we take those who cannot find or cannot return tot heir home in. Some choose to eventually go back. Some visit frequently after they make some friends. Others, like me, decide to stay permanently and become another resident here. But no matter a visitor's choice, we all treat them like one of our own nonetheless."

Eventually, they made it inside the Hall of Origin. It seemed to be a large house made for people to stay in. The Halls, ceiling, and floor were all white, the furniture was black, and the only splotches of color were reserved for the occasional wall poster.

"We're here. Welcome to my home. Let me get the dispenser and the kettle. I love actually making the tea. Do you have a preference for what type of tea? Jasmine? Green? Herbal?" Heidi started making her way towards the kitchen.

There was plenty of seating. The couch had a coffee table in front of it while there were a few chairs around the living room. There was also a dining room with a large looking table. Looks like Elysia could sit anywhere.

And thus, the Pathfinder would enter the elevator car, and would listen to what Heidi had to say as it ascended.

'Elysium', huh? It certainly sounded really close to the name she had chosen for this human shell. Yet that wasn't something she had focused on about, no. It was Elysium's use that Heidi had described is what she had focused on. Various beings; humans and Pokemon alike, regardless of hierarchy or divine status, living together in one place, like a family.

Yet again, her rot stirred. Another invasive thought perforated into her head.

'See what the other arms have achieved. See where you have failed in. Look upon their work, and despair.'

"With how you made it sound, then it seems that this world's predecessor had everything figured out." She remarked. After all, such an idea never crossed her mind, even. Then again, the past her many eons ago definitely wouldn't have entertained the idea.

Seeing this world's Hall of Origin being so vibrant, lively and full of space for others as well had her made a stark comparison to her own Hall. Perhaps it is still an empty space by now, with her own grand throne being the only seat present. A mark and testament of solitude, despite being the seneschal of her world.

"I'll take Jasmine." Elysia spoke, all while she had finally chosen a seat of her own to wait patiently for Heidi to be done.

She was right in assuming Cyrus wouldn't care for the flowery words, the metaphors, the observations from such a primal place that they couldn't be outright described-- only felt.

And what were "feelings" worth to him?

There was something to be found in her words, a truth. His current state could only exist with willful ignorance; whatever form that took.

He could stare listlessly all he wanted but the truth was that he was still guarding himself behind those eyes. A void avoidant. As if anything else would destroy the basis of his existence.

...

All he had to say, whether he subconsciously picked up on this or not, was:

"If you choose to keep looking, that is no matter of mine. Is there any reason you deem it necessary for me to know this?"

"No particular reason."

Indeed. For what meaning would her words have when spoken towards him? After all, she was not here to admonish him that the path he had chosen would leave him with nothing, no; she knows that he had already went way past that threshold already.

Perhaps to him, she was merely wasting his time.

Funny, that once upon a time, in a moment of weakness; a moment of rot, did she entertained a similar mindset as he did. Though it was of different motivation, it still would have resulted to a similar outcome, had she given in to her rot.

Tabula Rasa. A blank, clean slate.

Yet, she stayed her own hand from doing so. Perhaps it was a moment of sentimentality on her own creations. Perhaps it was clinging onto a fading hope, that she would be remembered in a way that matters, in a world that slowly, progressively had already left the wonder of her behind in pursuit of something more concrete.

Yet even so, the rot sometimes wins small yet crucial victories, and she ends up doing things that ended up pushing others to deviate from her further.

"Perhaps the reason was for me to understand." The Pathfinder spoke. "To quench one of the many 'whys' that I kept howling at the wind."

To understand. The very same reason she had abandoned her throne and divine hall. To understand the mortal realm, their nuanced perfect imperfections... and perhaps to also understand how this rot in her came to being.

It is described in mythology as the Pokémon that shaped the universe with its 1,000 arms.

One of the thousand arms of the Origin, huh? That was one way to put the individual in front of her. Maybe she could use something like that next time, even though Izanami moreso had a different context for that idea.

Still, while this one wasn't hostile, there was a lot more about this one than meets the eye. Maybe there was something special about this one

"It's a pleasure to met you too, Elysia. Sorry if you were expecting me to come down from the Hall. I was just finishing up with checking in on my parents when I heard that someone showed up here. So, wanted to stop in to say hello." Heidi nodded. "Anyway, are you here to learn more about this world? I don't have any obligations today and I've been wanting a break, so would you like to come up for tea?"

An offer to learn more about this realm she ended up in? Then perhaps she would learn how this world turned up. How different it would be compared to the world she had the responsibility of overseeing as its seneschal.

A responsibility that she had put on hold.

"Very well. I'll join you for some tea." She replied, a small smile now present on her face. "Apologies for having trespassed without warning. After all, I was deep in walking among the mortal realm, that the environment already seem to bleed the same." Indeed, she was expecting that this was her Spear Pillar; her Sinnoh.

It really has been that long, has it?

'It has been that long since you abandoned your throne.'

"And since you're willing to tell me more about how this world has been, then maybe I can also share some from mine. How does that sound?" After all, an exchange of knowledge would seem... fitting, she thought.

Love as a Force of Nature

Your love is like whiplash –– it comes in with the rain, it blows the doors wide open. When you fall in love, it is sudden and hard and immense. It is powerful. It is earth-shaking and world-ending. Nature is a force, and that force can be destructive if you're not careful. See how the world is doused in gasoline and set on fire –– your love consumes, your love takes, your love burns. You're hot and cold all at once, a hurricane and a wildfire bound together in skin, and when you're in love, it can feel like it's eating you alive from the inside out. When you love, it is with everything you have because it is everything you have. Be careful, darling, because not everyone survives the storm.

it had to end this way. we all know it. only you were unaware. you had hope. hope, of course, only makes it hurt all the more. we all knew you would look back, oh love, there’s no other version of the story. and yet, alongside you, we still had hope. we believed in you, even though we knew you couldn’t win. and you believed in yourself till the last moment. it isn’t fair, is it? you didn’t know you were doomed.

"Considering the person in front of me, it seems to be a bit of both~"

At this point, Heidi was used to visitors of her domain, whether they be Arceus or some other species. Every encounter was something new and different and every individual had their own quirk to it.

However, there was something... strange about this one. It wasn't necessarily that this was another Arceus that was in front of her. Instead, it was the emotions that Heidi was starting to sense. Not only nostalgia, but something... rotten? Something that seemed to be eating her? She didn't know what this feeling was, but it wasn't something that Heidi wanted for herself.

"Welcome to my home... well, the entrance of it, anyway." It was better to not beat around the bush when it comes to another Arceus. She didn't look hostile even despite the strange feeling. "My name's Heidi. I'm the Acting-Arceus of this realm. It's nice to meet you."

Heidi bowed.

"And who do I have the pleasure of meeting today?"

Perhaps her breath had stilled, unintentionally, when the one before her had spoke. Had she really wandered off into another realm, altogether? She can't tell, really, or seem to cannot tell as she didn't bother to tell the stark differences. After all, everything just blends in together like mush at some point.

Alas, it seems that she's the interloper now, for once. She almost let out a chuckle there. Almost, and instead she would let out an exhale.

Yet there was also something curious in Heidi's title, that caught her attention.

Acting-Arceus.

Perhaps in this realm, 'Arceus' is both a name and a title, passed down on those who are able to carry the burden, then?

The rot in her stirred, ever so slightly, in response to the title. Whispers of 'pretender', 'usurper', or any other similar sort manifested at the back of her mind, very likely influenced by the rot... but Elysia made sure to snuff out those thoughts the best she could as quick as they came.

Still, like Heidi, this Arceus can also sense inwardly into her, but she only did so at the surface level. She had learned in her journey into the mortal plane that people don't take too kindly to being probed too deep.

But even so, she can barely feel any presence of the Rot from the other, if at all.

And part of her envied that.

"Perhaps you can say that I'm one of the many arms of the Origin. But that was many, many eras ago." She began. "You can call me Elysia. It is a pleasure to meeting you too, Heidi."

Oh, there was no mistake that she, too, is an Arceus, yes. But she didn't explicitly stated it. Perhaps it was out of disassociation? Rejection? Guilt? Shame?

She honestly can't tell anymore.

Since when was the last time she had found herself in this place? Spear Pillar. A monument of reverence, of ancient wonder... Once. At least before its ruination. A mixture of fine emotions, memories... and rot was something she had felt the moment she had stepped foot before the ancient ruins, after long since she had abandoned her throne to walk among the mortal plane.

It was more of the third, of course, on a creeping, intensifying surge, but... The rot is under control. For now.

She would have had enjoyed a moment of nostalgia in this place. After all, this place also was and is still, the gateway to the Hall of Origin. Home. Yet what of nostalgia, if all she could remember was eras of solitude when she was on her throne?

The Pathfinder's moments of nostalgia and of surging rot would be interrupted, when she had felt a presence, just close by, to which she would then turn around to face whoever it was that had unintentionally interrupted her.

"... Curious." She began. "Not many come to this place nowadays. Usually its either something critical or of utmost importance happening here, or for personal reasons. I wonder which one of those would be the reason for you?"

Indeed. She'd know. But would she even elaborate? Her expression says it all.

Hence, a wry smile would form on her lips. There was a lot to unpack, words that would have been said, but... she stayed her lips, for even if she were to elaborate?

None of it would even matter. Especially towards him.

Thus, she'd breathe in; softly. Shakily.

Perhaps she would contradict herself, yes, that she had decided to elaborate, but only just.

"Even if I do continue to wonder, all I can see beyond those eyes is a void. An abyss, that which even if one were to stare at it, it refuses to even stare back."

Debatable, at least on her end. She went out, herself. Went out of her court and off her throne, long enough that she'd have forgotten already on when she had done that exactly, yet she doesn't really feel generally better. At least better enough.

But alas, that's only something she'd keep to herself.

"Don't worry about me. I'm just a traveling performer, nothing much to note." She stated, trying to be modest.

"As for you? You certainly look like someone of esteemed renown. Or maybe my hunch is wrong." A pause. "A pleasure to meet you too,"

Giratina

Headcanon theme: the Divesting of oneself, only to make things worse.

Headcanon Inspirations: Elden Ring (Miquella), Fear and Hunger (All-Mer)

In her world, Arceus didn't simply 'create' Giratina in the traditional sense as creating the Lake Guardians or Dialga and Palkia, no. Giratina, in her world, is essentially 'herself'.

Perhaps some time in the past, whether out of a growing empathy for her creations, curiosity, or even existential weariness after eras of demanding obedience, law and order, she decided to divest herself of her negative aspects. Hatred, envy, pride, bitterness, divine wrath; such toxic fragments that she had deemed too volatile and just wouldn't work anymore at the passing of time was severed from her being.

And so, in a rash decision to be more appealing to those of the mortal plane, she had ripped the 'blight' from herself. What was cast out by then had become Giratina. A distorted mirror of her original self, and quite effectively, and literally; her Shadow. Arceus was able to perform a divine, spiritual surgery, that she believed and hoped that by ridding her of divine toxicity, she would be a purer, better god.

Yet, she was wrong, and all it did was to leave the rot to fester in the dark.

As the Theological Rot had surged and blossomed in her over time, this also caused a resurgence, a resurrection of these toxic traits she had gone through a great effort in divesting herself from.

Thus came the one truth, in which that divinity cannot be split forever.

The Rot was already bad on its own, but it also heralded the slow return of the severed self, not as a willing reunion, but as a parasitic infection.

The divine toxicity she had once cast into Giratina, would surge back in her, unbidden.

Arceus' pride, godhood, truth, that which was once so pristine and unblemished, is now splintered and tainted, leaving her in a limbo, teetering between lucidity and madness.

Thus, in an attempt to be the god she tried to become; she ended up becoming worse, a god clinging on and trying to be compassionate, empathic and loving of humanity, yet also abhoring, condemning and resenting them all the same.

A god who's identity has been split apart; that which on one face, it is one that tries to move on with the times, to understand humanity further. And on the other face, is one who desperately, madly clings onto the truth of the old ways.
