something I find really interesting about the sitcom format of the show is how it’s not the universe punishing the characters for trying to break the status quo. it’s specifically matt punishing jay for trying to break the status quo.

jay wants ntbts to be a documentary about the rise of nirvanna the band. matt wants ntbts to be a sitcom about two people stuck in arrested development having fun together forever and ever.
