Taking a step back, Bathsheba could feel her anger grow. Charcoal eyes shinned with disbelief, anger, a somewhat unknown underlying emotion. She couldn’t figure it out. It wasn’t fear, nor was it acceptance. It confused her, only making angering her more.
He was a disrespectful man. Treating not only her with disrespect, but her husband. Talking to her with such a disgusted, angered tone. Bathsheba swore he didn’t understand that there were limits, even for her. He even had the audacity to make confused, conflicted on her own emotions.
Sure, after everything Bathsheba should’ve hated David, despised him. But she didn’t, she couldn’t bring herself to. He had a grip on her heart, one, not even torture could destroy. And hearing a stranger’s opinion on him, or herself for that matter, wasn’t something she was even slightly interested in.
Scoffing, Bathsheba glared at him. Though she knew he was a victim of David, of the church. Most people were victims of him, even herself in some respects. He was violent, manipulative, he knew how to get his way. David wouldn’t stop until he got it, he never had, even when they were younger.
“I am more than just his wife. How dare you assume I am nothing besides that.”
Zagan knew that as a person she was more then just a wife, but he knew nothing of what she’d done other then stick by David’s side time and time again. Not caring to open her shielded eyes and look what her husband had done in the face. He perceived her reaction to such things as not caring for all the carnage her own husband had caused.
He’d commanded his men to abuse children and drain them day after day, manipulate them into believing that the other species are evil. Causing them to steal their humanity away and turn them into violent monsters. Zagan knew this fate all too well, being a half-ling, half human half beast. One in a thousand, and yet he still held magic. His mother had him stolen from her and forced to work, of course he’d hate David and anyone of his followers for what they’ve done.
“You may be more, but honestly you’re no better then that vile man” Zagan knew his words where harsh, but frankly he did not care. It had taken him time to trust Solomon, and this woman would have a chance in hell of gaining his trust.
