This past week, a collector contacted me and told me a story. Years ago her sister took a tour of the places Paul visited on his missoinary trips. She said her sister was profoundly changed by that trip and it broadened her faith in God. Then she said she'd like to commission me to do an icon of Saint Paul, because she'd like to give it to her sister on her birthday. Of course I said "Yes." What an honor! Currently I'm working on a new icon of St. John, the man who was Jesus' best human friend. What?! While painting, I wonder about him. What was he like? What made him laugh? How did he treat others? He must've been kind, patient, and gracious. It makes me want to be a better person.
