"I'm starting to see my life pass in front of my eyes! At least, I think it's my life."
"Oh, shut up, ___. You know I don't mean a word of it."
"You got the makings of greatness in you, but you got to take the helm and chart your own course."
"I'm sorry, my memory isn't what it used to be."
"Was I ever dancing with an android named Lupé?"
"I mean, I am a doctor, but I'm not that kind of doctor."
"You can't help people with a doctorate. You just sit there and you're useless!"
"So, uh, how'd that happen anyway?"
"I said something rather good this morning before coffee."
"Is it that your body is too massive for your teeny-tiny head, or is it that your head is too teeny-tiny for your big fat body?"
"There you go, poetry."
"This is the answer to all our problems!"
"Hit your head there pretty hard, didn't ya?"
"I just don't want to see you throw away your entire future!"
"But before you do, I have one more question!"
"I know he's had a few rough spots this year, but I really think he's starting to turn a corner."
"Ohhh, you still don't know how to pick your fights, do ya?"
"Are you saying this because it's the right thing, or because you really wanna go?"
"Well, I was never much good at games. Always hated to lose."
"Can you get nothing wrong?"
"I feel like such an useless weakling."
"Why? Do you have something to hide, bright eyes?"
"They weren't exactly singing my praises when I left home."
"Don't you remember? All those stories?"
"I've got some plans to make people see me a little different."
"That was more fun than I ever want to have again."
“I don’t think I stuttered, did I? He gets the sass from you and you know it.”
“You’re gonna wish you stuttered.”
“He wasn’t like this before you became his Dad.”
“Uh, I’m gonna say he learned it from you, Napoleon.”
“Wanna run that by me again?”
“Uh, since forever? Don’t worry, Mom, it’s nothing personal.”
“I mean, you don’t let me have cake but I guess you’re still pretty cool.”
“Who do you think bakes the cake that your Dad lets you have before dinner, hmm?”
“He wouldn’t be able to be cool without me. You remember that young man.”
“Can I please have cake before dinner? I promise I’ll still be hungry for dinner.”
“You could be the coolest ever, even cooler than Dad is.”
“Wait a minute, since when is Dad cooler than me?”

“Uhhhh.” Sam cringes at her incredibly dense response but it takes her brain a moment to catch up with her mouth when Janet smiles at her; she’s been reduced to monosyllabic sentences in this woman’s presence and that doesn’t bode well for her because she has a feeling she’ll be a seeing a lot of the small doctor.
“Carter,” she finally manages and then mentally congratulates herself on forming actual words. “I’m Captain Samantha Carter but you can call me Sam. No one calls me Samantha but my dad when I’m in trouble.” Rolling her eyes at her sudden inability to stop talking, Sam shrugs awkwardly. “I mean, you can call me Sam if you want because that’s what everyone calls me.”
“Well, it’s very nice to meet you Sam,” she replies, grinning as she holds out her hand. “I’m Janet, Janet Fraiser.” It’s only a moment later that she realizes that she’s still holding onto Sam’s hand, for a few seconds longer than was normally deemed socially acceptable. Hoping Sam doesn’t notice, she lets go, tilting her head back towards her office. “Let me go get your file. I’ll be right back,” she adds, before quickly turning before Sam can see the slight blush creeping up her neck.
‘I’ll be right back’ really Janet?? she mentally chastises herself, shaking her head slightly as she enters her office, going to the file cabinets that line the wall of her office, quickly locating the file, giving it a look over. Satisfied with what she sees, she returns to her patient, giving her a bright smile. “Here we go, let’s try this one more time,” she says.

The large brown eyes that stare up at her completely throw Sam for a loop and she finds herself swallowing hard. Her brain seems to have short circuited and she can’t get words to form quickly enough to sound coherent so she nods blankly and moves to the bed indicated. Things feels sluggish, like her brain hasn’t moved past the sight of the heart-shaped face of Doctor Fraiser, and when she gets to the bed, she climbs up automatically.
Her eyes track the petite doctor’s movements around the room as she waits for her physical and Sam’s amused to note that the woman isn’t just petite, she’s tiny. Compared to the nurses and soldiers milling around the room, Doctor Fraiser is small enough to barely reach their shoulders and that makes Sam grin. Putting her hands behind her on the bed, she leans back on them and kicks her legs as they hang over the edge while she waits.
She can’t help but watch the blonde out of the corner of her eye as she finishes up what she’s doing. When she notices the swinging of her legs, Janet has to bite the corner of her lip to keep from grinning too much. It was very endearing, and Janet for a moment almost loses track of what she’s doing. It’s only when she goes to grab the soldier’s file, that she realizes she has no idea what her name is.
Walking over to the bed where the blonde is sitting, she gives her a sheepish smile. “I just realized, I didn’t ask your name,” she says, before vaguely pointing over her shoulder in the direction of her office. “I need to get your file,” she explains.

Looking around the crowded infirmary, Sam squints and rubs at the back of her neck; there are people everywhere - SG-4’s mission went horribly wrong - but Sam doesn’t have time to mess around since SG-1 is being sent in to smooth over the mess SG-4 made and she has to jump in an hour; Hammond ordered her to the infirmary to get her physical from the new CMO but Sam has no idea what Doctor Fraiser looks like so she’s at a loss.
She stands awkwardly in the corner until there’s a lull in the hectic activity and then beelines for the first labcoat she can find, gently taking the petite woman’s sleeve in her grasp. “Excuse me, have you seen Doctor Fraiser? I’m supposed to get my pre-jump physical from him.”
It’s her first day as CMO in the quite frankly intimidating mountain, and there’s already been a crisis that she has to deal with. SG-4 returned from their mission very much worse for wear, and in seconds the infirmary is a whirlwind of activity as she starts calling out orders to her staff. She’s too focused on the tasks in front of her to notice the blonde soldier standing silently near the door, and just as she feels like she finally has the situation under control, she feels a gentle tug on her sleeve, which causes her to whirl around, expecting to be greeted with more chaos.
Instead she is met with stunning blue eyes that cause her to momentarily lose her breath, looking up wide eyed at the blonde in front of her. It takes her a moment to process what the other woman had said, but when she does, she can’t help but chuckle a little.
“You’re lookin’ at her, Captain,” she says, noting the blonde’s rank on her uniform. She can’t really blame her for assuming that the base CMO would be male, considering the men on the base outnumber the women 10 to 1. “Take a seat over there,” she says, nodding to the last bed at the end of the infirmary, “I’ll be right over.”
