Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

Yep. The series is back one last time with the true origin story. Sure we want answers, right? Fucking hell, I don't know anymore. This series took a shit all over itself with part two, part three, part four, part five, and probably now this new one. Why do I keep seeing these films? I've seen them all in the cinema, and I'll likely see this one there too. Perhaps this time I'll pay to see something else and just walk into the theater where this is playing. If everyone that goes to see this one does that maybe they'll stop making them for real. Anywho, so if this is taking place twenty years ago and taped on VHS, how is this in high definition widescreen? Whatever, more demons and shit...

Let's hope this is true: 

"It's coming to an end. This is it, the finale," says producer Jason Blum. "We're saying it before the movie opens. We're not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground. This will keep Paranormal Activity as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way."

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Hold on to your butts. Mockingjay Part Deux is upon us! Here we see more of the same, but this time it comes to an end. Katniss is hellbent on eating Snow for breakfast, and since revenge is a dish best served cold, it fits quite nicely (*groan. *eyes rolling. I only said that because it made me giggle when I thought of it). 

"With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow [Donald Sutherland] in the final showdown. The Martian

Ridley Scott has been busy adapting Andy Weir's immensely popular science fiction novel, The Martian, and it looks pretty entertaining. Unfortunately with Hollywood's need to sell viewers onto a sci-fi movie they gave away the entire plot in this three minute trailer. That sucks. Regardless, the film looks fun, and I have to add this to my reading list. 

"During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive."

Point Break

Oh boy, what the hell is this? The desaturated look is getting old, and this glossy appearance just makes me groan. Is anyone going to pay to see this? Not a chance. This thing will be a moderate torrent success; good luck selling this piece of shit to a theater-going audience. I was twelve years old when the original hit theaters in 1991. I loved this film. To see it looking glitzy as a remake just stabs the heart. Hollywood will do anything these days.

Crimson Peak

This is looking quite snazzy. Del Toro does horror very well, and I'm glad he's back into it.

The Last Witch Hunter

I can't tell if I think this looks stupid or not. I'm leaning towards stupid, but I've been surprised by Vin Diesel before so who knows...

Legend (2015)

Who doesn't love a good mafia drama? All-star talent all around from actor to director to screenwriter. This film looks great. 

"The true story of the rise and fall of London's most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an amazing double performance. LEGEND is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960's and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray Twins."

Written and directed by Brian Helgeland. Starring Tom Hardy, Emily Browning, Taron Egerton, Christopher Eccleston, and Paul Anderson. Opening in the UK September 11th 2015. Universal Studios will be distributing the film in the US, however there's no word yet on a release date, but expect it in late 2015.

Black Mass

Wow. I haven't been this excited about a Johnny Depp movie in a quite a long time. Dark and brooding, this film looks fantastic. Depp is suitably creepy as shit as Whitey Bulger, the notoriously violent mob boss-turned-informant that brought down the Patriarca mafia family. Just sayin'.

"The true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Hell yes, here it is! It looks dark as hell and that's exactly what I wanted. Zack Snyder knows how to make a good movie when he wants to, so lets hope this lives up to the hype. And lets hope Superman finally gets his Superdick knocked in the dirt (I'm not picking sides but yes I am).

The Gallows

This trailer is incredibly effective. I actually got chills for a moment. Hopefully this is rated R and scary as hell, and this isn't just a good trailer for a shitty movie. The synopsis below gives us some idea of the story content, and there's a part of me that thinks about I Know What You Did Last Summer which makes me cringe, however, lets hope there's something dark and scary here and not a bunch of old and tired horror tropes.

"Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy-but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone."

The Hateful Eight

Good ole Quentin Tarantino is back, and we have a teaser below for The Hateful Eight, the film he almost canned because some jerk-off he trusted shared the script online. Thankfully he gave it a rewrite and we'll be able to see it in November. 

"In The Hateful Eight, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. Oh boy, oh boy! A new Sinister film with the terribly original title of Sinister 2 is coming soon! As if we wanted a new one...!

The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)

Here we go again. This is a terrible series, but also utterly fascinating and amazing at the same time. I'll be watching this for some sick reason, wondering why I'm watching it at all, and remembering that I'm a little crazy, so why not...

Bully prison warden Bill Boss (Dieter Laser), leading a big state prison in the US of A, has a lot of problems; his prison statistically has the highest amount of prison riots, medical costs and staff turnover in the country. But foremost he is unable to get the respect he thinks he deserves from his inmates and the state Governor (Eric Roberts). He constantly fails in experimenting with different ideas for the ideal punishment to get the inmates in line, which drives him, together with the sizzling heat, completely insane. Under threats of termination by the Governor, his loyal right hand man Dwight (Laurence R Harvey) comes up with a brilliant idea. A revolutionary idea which could change the American prison system for good and save billions of dollars. An idea based on the notorious Human Centipede movies, that will literally and figuratively get the inmates on their knees, creating the ultimate punishment and deterrent for anyone considering a life of crime. Spectre

A teaser is a teaser, and this sure is a teaser. Not much to see but what little we get makes it look pretty damned good. 

A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Maggie

This one is unexpected. When I heard Mr. Terminator was doing a zombie film I rolled my eyes. This one actually looks damned good and very dark. Check it out:

A teenage girl in the Midwest becomes infected by an outbreak of a disease that slowly turns the infected into cannibalistic zombies. During her transformation, her loving father stays by her side.

Directed by Henry Hobson from a script by John Scott. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin, and Joely Richardson. Opening with a limited run in the US on May 8th.

Attack on Titan

The live action teaser for Attack on Titan has be revealed and it looks quite spectacular for only thirty seconds of footage. Below is the translation of the text in the trailer:

"Narration: Over one hundred years ago... Half of humanity was eaten by the titans that suddenly appeared... The humanity that remained created a giant wall, and lived peacefully. Text: Anticipated by the whole world!! Text: Live-action film green-lit! Mikasa: The world is cruel... Eren: If we mess up, that's the end for humanity. Title: Attack on Titan Text: The attack begins on August 1!"

A teenage boy named Eren Jaeger must use his special gift to fight alongside with the military to defeat the titan race. Mankind is on the brink of extinction when these man eating monsters terrorize everybody and destroy the last of human civilization left in the world.

Insidious: Chapter 3

Here we go again, folks. The Darth Maul ghost is back, and this time we get his origin story. This prequel installment is not directed by James Wan as the previous films were, but by his friend and writer Leigh Whannell. I hope he pulls it off. I love horror so I know I'll be seeing this, but based off the trailer, I'm not very excited. 

A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

Written and directed by Leigh Whannell. Starring Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Angus Sampson, Leigh Whannell, and Lin Shaye. Opening in theaters June 5th 2015.
