Things I learned from reddit:
There are apparently only three kinds of spells but 32 different types of witches
I consider myself a fairly discerning witch. I check my experiences against my mental health baselines. I don't get swept up in divination spirals. I never assume something is a sign or a spirit right away. I know the difference between folklore and fact. Etc.
But when someone else's standard of discernment and groundedness requires that I treat magic as a placebo, act like spirits and the spirit world don't exist, or pretend to be a die-hard skeptic, that's just not something I have any desire to do.
"Does a witch bottle have to contain piss?"
I guess not, but it's cooler if it does.
Pissing in bottles is honestly a rite of passage.
Also a show of solidarity with Amazon drivers.
[deactivating shitpost mode for a moment]
When I say "witch bottle" I do not mean any bottle spell. I mean the classic "nails and piss in a bottle as a decoy for malefic spells intended for you".
And in my opinion, it's gotta be piss. You get no street cred for trying to substitute vinegar. You will be the laughing stock of the devil's sacrament.
Okay, it's possible that I didn't fully deactivate shitpost mode...
Lisbeth at the devil's sacrament thought she could replace blood and piss in her witch's bottle with beet juice and turmeric 🙄💅 what is this, 1704?
What do you think we're doing here, Lisbeth? Making salad dressing??
alright so first you gotta get really invested in some esoteric bullshit
This weekend, the Sidereal Coveen met in the woods for a period of witchcraft.....and glamping.
Discussing various books we had read of late, we decided to hold the Feast of Elphame from Viridarium Umbris. We collected plump red huckleberries and delicious black raspberries, plantain, ferns, and foxglove to drop our wishes into a stream. We constructed the table with branches and river stones from nearby. Our "cloth" was devil's club leaf. The table was laid with berries, leaves, bread and cheese, and sweet dandelion wine.
We turned and did not look back.

Fuck you you're religion is shitbyii don't have beliefs
God I love Tumblr
Fire Lyte's name is Don Martin, and he wrote the Dabbler's Guide to Witchcraft, for anyone interested!
I have not read it, so no opinion on how good or not it is
Ooh! Good connection-making!
I haven't read it either, but I have heard a surprising number of good things about it.
Do witches still use Tumblr?
Nah. We all left.
Sound off if you're no longer here.

the key to avoiding symbolismslop is sincere, thoughtful intent btw
it's fine to create art that has deer skull god (she/her) (queering it) pomegranate sun/moon symbolism in it but you need to ask yourself, why a deer skull and not another animal? what does queering it add to the text's portrayal of religion? why a pomegranate specifically? are the sun and moon the most appropriate celestial bodies to represent the meaning i'm trying to convey to my audience? what am i trying to say here?
"it looks cool" and "everyone else is doing it so i guess i should as well" are the creativity killers. inspiration requires introspection otherwise it's just imitation!!!
+ as the notes have pointed out being open to critique is also the fuel of creativity, not the antithesis of it. inviting interpretation only increases the space you have to work with and respond to!
Reading this as a pagan is incredibly refreshing. I get a little tired of seeing symbols of belief which are important to me and people I hold dear just scrambled together because it looks cool and then tagged as #witchy and #pagan or chucked on Pinterest for an aesthetic.
the rule of cool is fine by me but it’s so wonderful to see people approach these symbols with with their own and stories and intentions.
One detail spotted at the winter solstice celebrations at Stonehenge has been hailed as a 'great omen' for the year ahead
A black cat was spotted atop the stones at Stonehenge during the Winter Solstice celebrations. This is considered be a good omen for the coming year.

Somewhere, beneath a leaf, a soft salamander waits to join your most vital memories.
Somewhere, in autumn’s rich soil, a mushroom will stand above ground and remind you of the strange life deep below.
Somewhere, a person like us, who has lost the knack of noticing will need the magic only you can bring them.
The afterlife according to norse myth is more complex than just Valhalla and Helheim.
I think someone’s vision of the afterlife doesn’t really need to rely on mythology at all. Of all the elements of spiritual thought, the afterlife is one of the most unclear, especially when it comes to norse mythology. It’s highly personal and complex. The discussion around the norse vision of the afterlife can’t possibly be limited to Helheim and Valhalla. And just as an aside, I notice that many choose to ignore the complexity of Helheim in historical sources, and the varying interpretations of its role in myth. We could hardly label it as “the place where non-warriors go”, considering the vast amount of contradictory information concerning its purpose. Plus, where do we situate Helgafjell? Rán’s hall? And what about Fólkvangr? What role do burial mounds and sites fulfill in the afterlife? I think it can be interesting to explore these ideas when pondering what the concept of “afterlife” means to each of us as norse pagans.
