Two months ago we had to put my oldest dog to sleep. Although it hurt, a lot, we knew it was coming. He was old, got really fragile and couldn’t stand up without help.

We knew it was coming. And we were able to properly prepare for it emotionally and mentally.

Last night we didn’t get to have that option with my sweet fat boy Thomas. Last night we had to put him to sleep because of the pain he was in, and he wasn’t gonna make it regardless.

We didn’t get to have time to prepare. We had to let him go with broken hearts and tear filled eyes.

I’ve always loved our dogs, but I never really anticipated for their passing to hurt as much as it does now. It’s a lot to handle.
