Im so sick of talking about capitalism and consumerism. Make your queer socialist leftist diverse community spaces safe for Jews
Yes but donāt we understand that our existence is inconvenient for their moral framework ?
People have been saying for years that these political hipsters did to I/P what they did to BLM in 2020. It's 6 years later and it still gets me that these (often white and at the very least, majority non-black) Leftists (tm) hijacked a whole political movement surrounding the murder of George Floyd and made it about themselves and their desire to be seen as cool through advocating for completely unrealistic, fringe positions that never had a snowball's chance in hell of happening. Obviously, the GOP played a big role in trying to kill the momentum for police reform in 2020, but it really didn't help convince normies that criminal justice reform was desperately needed when you had so many people earnestly saying the only solution was something that everyone knows will never happen (that being prison abolition)
And now some of them have the audacity to be like "lulz well we all said crazy things during Woke 1." Even aside from that further contributing to the bastardization of the term "woke"--which originated with black Americans and was used to talk about being socially aware of racial injustice--it shows that they merely see political movements as fads. And they've done the same thing with I/P, spending years talking about an issue they still refuse to read any real information about (from actual sources, not tiktok) because it's a popular hashtag, makes them feel cool among their friends, and is a replacement for an actual hobby and personality. A lot of college students in particular treated I/P as a fucking after school club in 2024. So at a time when people could have listened to Palestinians advocating for peace, such as Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, they just saw a bunch of privileged poseurs celebrating in the streets after Jews were raped and massacred.
And like the tweet says, they'll eventually casually drop the cause with a shrug and move on, because at the end of the day, this is all a pastime for them and doesn't affect them directly.
Okay. Fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community... what the hell is going on
Y'all will take a character who is meant to be a very obvious allegory for the Jewish Experience and Antisemitism and somehow make it about queerness???? Y'all just can't stand Jews being Jews can you
No that thing you dislike isnāt āspiritually Israeliā. You know what is spiritually Israeli? What's the core of Israeli spiritual life? Judaism. But you arenāt gonna say something is spiritually Jewish out loud to devalue it, are you?Ā
Oh, you meant it has colonialist vibes? That itās a fascist or right-wing power structure? That itās the result of genocidal actions? Then why arenāt you saying itās spiritually American or French or British? Why are you so intent on using a Jewish country (no matter how immoral its actions) to critique things you dislike? Why are you ok mocking things by lumping them in with the spiritual (ie. jewish) aspect of Israel? Please, explain to me how that actually isnāt antisemitic.Ā

The rise in antisemitism in the last few years is awful. I wish I could do more about it.
I'm not Jewish. I say that because unfortunately it feels like that needs to be clarified - and not in a "so I can't speak directly to the impact of this because it's not my story so you should listen to those who are being affected" (that's still true and you should do it) but because part of the antisemitism is dismissing Jewish people when they bring it up.
And I imagine this post will get me a lot of messages/responses about freeing Palestine - and I agree, lots of horrible things are happening to Palestinians. But this post is about the horrible things that are happening to Jewish people.
I'm Canadian. The things I read about antisemitic hate crimes have nothing to do with helping Palestinians. How does damaging property in Canada or attacking a person in Canada help?
I don't want to hear about the mental gymnastics or outright hateful logic you use to make it ok to attack a marginalized community. Instead, just go head and block me. Stop following. We don't need to interact with each other.
The harm that is being done toward Jewish communities and individuals over the world is heartbreaking. The lack of support/outrage/solidarity that is being shown to those individuals and communities is shameful for the rest of us. Call it out. Stand up. Correct information that is harmful. Listen and read and learn and try to understand instead of scratching your head and finding reasons for why this kind of aggression and discrimination is ok actually.
And if you're Jewish and reading this - hi, welcome. I don't know enough and I'll probably miss some things as I'm still learning, but I hope following me can be safe for you.
Considering how much goyim complain about what they see as outsized focus on Holocaust education, so many goyim know absolutely jackshit about the Holocaust
Because the Holocaust was meant to be some sort of self-improvement lesson about man's inhumanity to man or something universal like that, not specifically about us pesky, whiny Jews.
Being Jewish is having pride and sadness be so entwined they're basically the same emotion at times.
multiple times a day i just think about the fact that the largest most all encompassing and violent religions in the world have crushed the mythology of judaism into a pedestal for their own gains. and jews are just expected to turn the other cheek and be generous and deferent about it
i mean this literally, there is a fucking mosque on the last remnant of our holiest site.
As a lifelong Dem:
I'm not Jewish but watching people on the left not only unironically but casually repeat the kind of shit that the OG Nazis were saying in the 30s and then disregard me when I tell them that (with receipts) is scary AF. Somewhere down the line, the ideas and language of social justice got swerved in a very bad way so that antisemitism would still be "ok."
I feel like in the past ten years, boycotting has stopped being a tool for forcing action on specific policies and become a form of harassment and monastic self-denial. Less āI will not be giving my money to you until you improve these specific conditionsā and more ādonāt touch the contaminated thing, lest you also become contaminated.ā
Its become a moral purity thing. If you purchase from a company doing something bad, you are deemed complicit in the bad thing because you spent $5 on shampoo.
Boycotting is not about keeping yourself morally squeaky clean. it's about forcing companies into stopping and changing bad behavior, with the power of multiple people's dollar.
Also, boycotts should have a specific and feasible demand. I will not buy from this company until their workers' union has a new contract. Or until they stop buying materials from a specific place where there's tons of exploitation going on.
Part of the point of a boycott is that the company in question should see their sales bounce back if/when they comply with the demands of the boycott, because if they lose you as customers permanently they lose all incentive to listen to you in the future.
You'd think that having made almost zero progress on your goal of freeing Palestine and instead achieving new and still rising, highs of antisemitism across the globe would make the "I'm antizionist not antisemitic" crowd rethink their approach of activism for Palestine. But alas, that hasn't happened because not all, but a substantial amount of the aforementioned crowd of people actually have harming jews as their real goal.
The purpose of a system is what it does.
Palestine is not in the least bit freed freed but Jews are living in fear and have been cast out of a huge number of social contexts and synagogues are spending more money than they can afford on increased security and Jewish restaurants are being forced out of business and seeing bricks thrown through windows.
The purpose of a system is what it does.
it astounds me that some of us are still trying to pass this off as just a "phase" the world is having. like y'all said it'd pass with the ceasefire but it sure didn't did it? it arguably only got worse once iran came into the picture, and don't you dare tell me that was just the internet either. what we're seeing is more akin to the post-WWI european rise in antisemitism rather than some stupid trend. we're at an average of at least one antisemitic incident per week at this point, not to mention all the minor aggressions in an individual jew's day-to-day life. don't you dare tell me i'm being paranoid you know it's true. in the coming years this is only going to snowball into something far worse and we'll be seeing major antisemitic societal changes. a lot of jews are going to have to make aliyah but we've seen how people like mamdani can get into major positions of power and immediately use said power to pass antisemitic reforms, i won't be surprised if aliyah will be limited as well as other anti-jewish laws being passed. don't you dare fucking tell me i'm just spiraling again because you know it's true. sure israel can defend itself against actual physical threats but in regards to prejudice the situation could not be more fucking bleak. it's only going to get worse. don't get your hopes up.
History does not take right or wrong sides. 'History' doesn't remember. People remember. Jews will remember. People able to be normal about Jews will remember. We and they are uncool minorities. If there is a sufficient amount of murders and beatings and burnings of Jews in addition to the 'Social death' of ostriczation and conspiratorial threats, Everyone else will have not seen any of it or noted any of the rhetoric that caused it, some of which they trafficked in. 'Some people' in their movements might have been bad, but they weren't, and can you really blame them? They were protesting Inhuman Evil in the form of attempting to kill american Jewish preschoolers, firebombing a grandma, and shooting a young engaged couple outside a Jewish museum. Those are totally all aberrations. Nobody cheered it on or justified it. Those people were just outliers who were sincerely hurt and had high moral convictions. After all, as congressional candidate and Dubai Landlord Abdul El-Sayed likes to say 'Hurt people hurt people'
For 2000 years? People were on the wrong side of history about Jews. It never really mattered. So. Why would it matter now?
Leftists care because being on the right side of history is their version of going to heaven. It occupies a huge part of their psyche. And it's why a bunch of them are going to lie when the dust from this war settles and they'll pretend they weren't rubbing elbows with David Duke.
Being antisemitic only ever became the "wrong side" and something "history remembers" because it coincided at one point with the actions of the Enemy Nation in Chief of the Losing Side (WWii). If any of these factors were not the case (it not being the instigating nation/Germany, the Allies having won, it not having been the Nazis Main Thing they arguably sacrificed war-winning strategy in favor of carrying out).... society as you know it would not be terribly concerned with the Holocaust, no matter how temporary it's starting to seem that concern was. Further, Jewish studies in your local educational institution? Maybe at Brandeis. Learning at all about other pogroms before the Shoah? On the rare instances goyim do learn about this outside of Jewish Studies, it's as an extension of Holocaust education.
I need us to really internalize that the only reason anyone gave a fuck about our genocide is that it was politically in their favor to demonize its perpetrators at the time. If the Nazis hadn't been at odds with the Allies? Silence. And silence was the M.O. at the time, too, until it became relevant.
You hear the quote "they move millions in dark money to preserve their power and turn us against each other" and think it's from Nazi Germany or the KKK, but no! It's mayor of the most Jewish city in the diaspora Zohran Mamdani!
Iām really tired about being right about that piece of shit
#he really crossed a line here.#that was really beyond the pale.#< prev tags#yup but we told yall he would
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani made one of his sharpest calls yet for change in the Democratic Party on Thursday night as he rallied wit
I think it is super fucking important that the source be easily findable and checkable.
Because Iran is paying for Wikipedia to be scrubbed. My blog isn't scrubbed.
I also archived this article in the Wayback Machine and Archive.is in the event that something happens to the article. Because again, history is being changed in front of our eyes. So.
To clarify for anyone who in good faith does not understand what is wrong with that quote, it is chock full of dog whistles and conspiracy thinking that may not readily be understood by the casual observer but are easily understood by white supremacists and other antisemites, signaling to them that Mamdani dislikes Jews just as much as they do:
"dark money": "Dark money" technically refers to untraceable or difficult to trace political donations. AIPAC's donations are all out in the open. It does not in any way fit the literal definition of "dark money". What Mamdani appears to be saying here is that the money itself is "dark" or evil because AIPAC (associated with Israel and Jews) has (metaphorically) touched it.
"single goal, to preserve their power": Mamdani frames AIPAC as uninterested in specific policy or political changes--the usual reason that PACs exist. He accuses them instead of being interested in power for power's sake, which it will use to undermine the health of society. He implies a contrast with himself and the DSA, whose intentions are painted as good and pure and whose goals are implied to to hinge on creating specific political and policy changes, with any interest in gaining power merely a side effect or dirty necessity of achieving such goals. In other words, he is taking an organization that is doing the exact same things that his own organization is doing, and painting it as uniquely evil. Mamdani tends to reserve this kind of rhetoric for organizations associated with Israel and, by extension, Jews.
"turn us against each other"--this accusation makes little sense. AIPAC is an organization focused on American-Israeli relations. It has no interest in tearing apart American society. However, Jews have long been accused of trying to undermine the coherence and well-being of the societies in which they live. It is not a factual statement, but an accusation built on and promoting distrust and scapegoating of Jews.
"moral change"--this statement puts AIPAC in opposition to "moral change" and morality in general. It build on and feeds into centuries of Christian and Muslim antisemitism painting Jews as immoral, scheming, an operatives of the devil.
"we all know"--Here, Mamdani delineates an ingroup ("we") with special knowledge ("we all know"). This is the language of conspiracy theorists. It is clear that by saying "we all" he does not mean all Americans or all New Yorkers; he is specifically delineating "we" from "AIPAC,' "our leaders," anyone who sympathizes with or supports them, and those who disagree with AIPAC and "our leaders" but trust that they are operating in good faith. AIPAC and "our leaders" are painted as beholden to foreign interests (understood here as Israeli and Jewish), while "we all" are the morally pure individuals who understand the evil nature of this Israeli-Jewish threat.
