Stuff like this always makes me remember how sensationalized the ​“hide your kids, hide your wife” video was, also known as the “bedroom intruder meme” 🗿.

The guy was clearly one of the earliest memes of a black person expressing frustration publicly (it was a news report of the man explaining how he’d run off a predator trying to rape his sister by the way) but in a “funny way” (the way that nbs and whites find entertaining at least because they don’t see black trauma as something that should be given grace, and shown empathy right from the very start over their own intial enjoyment because that’s no fun), and something like this became a huge joke. Like, this meme was literally everywhere in the early 2000’s, and I think people forgot that his sister was almost raped 🧍🏾‍♀️…………………………..!

Concept: I finish school. The job I work isn’t my dream job but I enjoy doing it greatly still. It pays enough to cover everything I might need. My bills are never overdue. Money is not a thought in my head. I have a place to live. So do my dogs. It is nice and warm, I have some plants, my bookshelves are full, my sheets are always clean. There is time to read at the end of a day. I read a lot. Thinking is a good thing. I meet up with friends regularly, old and new. They love me. We make memories. I have nothing to be ashamed of. I travel a few times a year, always different places. The places I see steal my breath away. The people I meet teach me of life. They are good. There is no war. The sea calls to me and pay visit. I am independent. I am content.

i don’t mean this in a sad way but i genuinely was just not built for being in a relationship. i don’t like the emotional labor of it im an inherently selfish person when it comes to my peace and time. i don’t like to be vulnerable or intimate i don’t like anything that inhibits my freedom im very flighty and spontaneous and i change my mind and my perception of myself and others constantly and i want to be able to up and leave at the drop of a pin. i don’t want to live with someone i don’t want to constantly be reporting what im up to i don’t want to share funds or food or make any compromises to my lifestyle. and its taken me this long to realize just how content i am with it even though others like to push their notion that im not doing enough, that it will change with the right person. i like maybe 5 people genuinely in my whole life man and even i wouldn’t want to live with any of them or think about them more than a few times a week i think im just built this way

I am pro-accredited aquariums and zoos. My posts critiquing the animal rights movement are blowing up right now and I just want to come out and say definitively that I appreciate zoos and aquariums allowing the public to view wild animals without potentially disturbing them in their natural habitat or resorting to the illegal exotic pet trade. It is valuable for conservation purposes and many aquariums/zoos take unreleasable wildlife and host breeding programs for endangered species. They are not just institutions for human amusement, they are integral to maintaining public interest and studying the ecology and biology of the animals contained within.
