normally, maeve would put up a mask, a facade, and pretend to be interested in the idea of celebrating halloween, but she was rather exhausted of always pretending on this occasion. “trick-or-treating?” maeve questioned, her voice practically dripping in judgement. “isn’t that for children? a chance for them to dress up as the things that scare them most and pretend they’re not afraid? it seems like a rather ridiculous tradition to partake in.”
