just found out through you that there’s a cookbook. where in it does it confirm that maiko got together again and that azula got redeemed?? and is it considered canon???

The Cookbook is approved by the creators and written in collaboration with Avatar Studios, so yes, it's generally considered canon lmao. It doesn't contradict anything that happens later and it actually expands the lore in some interesting ways.

These are the Mai and Azula bits in the cookbook

The book seems to be set around 15 years (give or take) after the end of the Hundred Year War, so what we can gather here is:

-Mai talking about how Zuko gets her her favorite flavour of ice cream, so the implication that they are back together is there. Considering that they still have feelings for each other in the comics and that Izumi has Mai's whole face, not shocking or crazy to think about.

-The book in universe is written by the Gaang + friends&allies, so Azula being included strongly implies that at some point after 'Azula in the Spirit Temple' she had some sort of redemption arc (actually not that crazy or shocking either after reading that comic) and is now at least on good terms with the Gaang.

-That Azula and Mai reconciled to the point that Azula told her about the cherry-pit moment and now Mai likes cherry ice cream even more just to annoy Azula and that Mai also bullies Azula into trying drinks (lmao)
