Because part of me is convinced that the only person that knows about Kyoshi’s “job” is Kyoshi. Like I’m half convinced that Kelsang brought her to live there once he knew it’d be fine, with no actual expectations of Kyoshi besides her getting off the streets and he said something to her about how she could help out with chores sometimes and she’s like “thank god I have employment I must cherish it” and she thinks she has this job as a servant and everyone was just like “damn Kyoshi is really helpful around here” because she’s always running errands and doing chores so no one complains about this kid Kelsang got out the trash

I thought everyone in the fire nation wore topknots? In the leak comic it seems that Rangi was the only one who wore one.

I actually didn't notice that. There are a handful of other people with topknots, but I also would have assumed that more people in the fire nation would wear one.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I personally prefer when Kyoshi still has a more respected/higher earning job than Rangi in essentially any AU unless the point of that AU is specifically to twist that expectation or if it's then at a younger age.

I just feel like it is actually quite important for their dynamic that Kyoshi is the one who is publicly known and idealized or in some cases demonized.
