I will never ever forgive Shonda for Callieās shitty last season complete with a very shitty (and fictionally abrupt) departure, and for the years of wasted Calzona potential and true characterization sacrificed forĀ ādrama and thrillsā.Ā
Callie definitely says goodbye in the series with the most shameful end among all those who left. And with little hopefulness that some day she gets some redemption for what happened in that episode custody.
Callieās ending wasnāt shameful. It was disappointing as a a Calzona fan, but Callie left for love. Just because it wasnāt the love we wanted for her that doesnāt make it shameful. We have no reason to believe that once she started working in New York she wonāt be just as badass of a surgeon as she was in Seattle. Maybe more so, as now she is eligible for a Harper Avery.
Callie and Arizona worked out a mutually agreeable custody arrangement.Ā She doesnāt need redemption for loving her daughter and wanting her with her.Ā
Callie wanting her daughter to move with her is not something anyone thinks is terribly shameful as far as I can tell. A huge thing to ask of a co-parent, but the DESIRE is normal.
Unfortunately, she presumed that it wasnāt even a question that she could take her child across the country for a year. And the idea of her ex-wife, the non-biological mother to Sofia, having primary custody was not even something she thought was at all possible. She let her lawyer use her biological relationship to her child as if it were some trump card. Fundamentally, when the chips were down, she did not consider Arizona an equal parent.
They also did not work out a mutually agreeable custody arrangement. Arizona put Callieās wants and needs ahead of her own because Callie couldnāt figure out a way to either manage a long distance relationship for one year, or to leave and have the role that she presumed was fine and dandy for Arizona.
I think Callieās exit was a complete travesty and disservice to her character and to Sara Ramirez.
Callie and Penny??? are you kidding me
I got a request for it & I never see them on my dash because people hate on them, so yeah, Callie and Penny gifset for yāall Ā ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
And Iāll bet this anon will reblog/like anything with Arizona + new love they can get their hypocritical hands on.
1st off, maybe? But right now nobody even mentioned Arizona and new love interest. Secondly, even if they do, why would it be hypocritical in this instance?

āPoor Charles. Heās so young. So very young. And it hurts me to hurt him. But what can I do?ā
I've decided not to root for gay couples anymore. I've lost Cophine, Calzona and Vauseman. That's enough sorrow for me. I'm done!
Iām sorry. I would highly recommend simply watching The Fosters. Stef and Lena are anĀ āold married coupleā so there isnāt the thrill of the chase and that first kiss, but they are so great together. I think everyone should just watch this show even if you fast forward through the teens.
Unfortunately, I had to give up that show. It was too problematic for me.
āIām actually really proud of this. We were done with production well before 2016. I am very aware of the trope from years past, and just my experience on other shows with heavy LGBT representation, but I didnāt know the trope would come to pass in such a horrible way in 2016. I didnāt think itād be so front and center and an issue that weād need to discuss given what was happening to other characters on other shows. So Iām just really proud because without being cynical about it, we had this planned since September. We knew we were going to shoot Nicole. We knew she was going to be wearing a bulletproof vest. We knew she was going to survive. It was a little bit of a play on the āBury Your Gaysā trope, but I feel like itās taken on so much meaning given the year weāve all had with television.
Since the very first time we introduced Nicole Haught I feel like fans have been tweeting at Kat Barrell, Dom and myself saying āplease put Nicole in a bulletproof vest.ā I was like ādid they get the script? How do they know thatās where weāre going?ā Itās been kind of funny in the background knowing thatās what we were going to do and people hopefully would see something like that.ā

I have no idea. Iām sure there are a dozen of them.
I got this⦠@magicgirlwrites. Itās actually a phraseā¦.. āBut for now, Iām taking some welcome time off,ā
Here is what I find ālaughableā on this Mondayā¦.
Some calzona fans (not on my dash - elsewhere) who are now salivating over who Arizonaās love interest will be next season during Saraās break from the show. Donāt get me started on the Lauren mentions. But these very same people thought Callie did not deserve to move on from Arizona after being divorced for two years. How dare she find someone else besides Arizona? Sure they blamed it on Penny being āuninterestingā (and I agree she was boring) but it would be the same song if Callie was dating Beyonce last season. But it wasnāt about Penny. They bitched when it was Policeman Dan (even tweeting Sara hate on that one!), kissing Steak Knives, dancing (and probably more) with hot guy in barā¦oh they thought Callie needed to grow up and stop dating around. I sipped my tea while the crickets chirped in the silence from them during Arizonaās revelation she was sleeping with three women at the same time in season 12 though.
Sure Callie left and Arizona doesnāt deserve to be alone but get out with the double standards please.
Me personally? I only prefer them with each other and would have preferred kick ass storylines about their careers and families while apart. If Shonda never planned to reconcile them then of course move on like Meredith is trying to do.
Iām just going to jump in and say this, first off I do think there is a difference from seeing things as oppose to just hearing things (Iām going to be honest here. I did miss a couple of episodes & I know Arizona said she slept with some women, but did she really have a foursome?).
Secondly, I do remember a lot of outrage over Arizona and Leah. (The only other "romantic" relationship we've seen outside of Boswell)
Lastly, who cares what other people think. People are always going to have their preferences.
