i am happy to announce that july 21st to july 27th will be the very first alma torran week 2025! to everyone that shared the original post and completed the interest check, thank you so much! i wouldn't have had the motivation to do this without you guys.

make sure to tag this account, @alma-torran-week, in each post you submit for this event and use the tag ( #alto week 2025 ). for fanfic writers, please post your work to ao3. make sure to post your work to the alma torran week collection here.

you can submit multiple fanworks. please make sure the latest you submit anything is july 30th.

any kind of fanwork (art, fanfiction, graphics, imagines, etc.) pertaining to the alma torran arc and its characters will be accepted, so long as it meets the following requirements:

01. absolutely NO AI used to create or edit fanwork. this does not mean you can't look for ideas from an AI generated prompt, but do not submit any work in which AI was used in the creation or editing process.

02. no bashing of others' work.

03. no plagiarism of any kind.

04. no proship pairings. this includes incest, adult/child, and anything else that falls under the proship umbrella, as this is an event for the GENERAL fandom and ships of that nature can be very uncomfortable or triggering for some folks (myself included!).

05. NO NSFW OR HEAVILY SUGGESTIVE WORK IN GENERAL. if you would like the implication of NSFW in your fanwork, please keep it non-explicit and lightly suggestive.

06. please tag works appropriately!

PROMPTS

only a single prompt is required to participate. you may do both prompts for each day, or combine prompt pairs into a single work. you can also mix and match prompts from different days together. you can post a prompt on any day of the event, even if it's not the assigned day (ex: you can do monday's prompt on thursday). for all of these scenarios, just make sure to appropriately label which prompt/prompts you're following in the subtitle of your post.

I remember when I was about 12, I watched a show on TLC that followed people as they got somewhat uncommon medical procedures.

There was one episode with a trans woman getting different gender-affirming operations, including breast implants. It showed the procedure, and (what I found so fascinating that it's stuck with me for decades), as soon as the doctor put the implant in, a censor blur popped up on the nipple.

And you just know there was a meeting between the TLC lawyers and the editors and producers of the show to discuss what the difference was between a "man nipple" (can be shown) and a "woman nipple" (no no must obscure, 'tis naughty). And they decided that as soon as the implant goes in and the nipple has more mass behind it, that's the moment when it becomes a woman's nipple and must be hidden to comply with TV rules.

But it's the same nipple. On the same person. I know what it looks like; I just saw it. But TV and obscenity rules are rules, and the rules say woman nipple = sexual and therefore explicit, but man nipple = neutral, just fine.

"Free the Nipple" was calling out arbitrary bullshit like that, because someone just existing with their body parts should not be considered obscene, and the double standard that men can be topless but women can't is so blatantly ridiculous. All nipples are just nipples. If you get turned on or bothered by them, that's on you.

also, cowboy culture was hella gay. like, write-poems-about-your-cowboy-partner gay.

IF people acknowledge it, they play the necessity card– there weren’t any women out on the range, so they had to “resort to men.” this claim completely erases 1) the romantic (not just sexual) writings of actual cowboys, 2) the acknowledgement of cowboys’ potential homosexual activity by writers at the time, and 3) the possibility that some men would deliberately become cowboys with the intent to seek out homosexual encounters.

no one wants to admit it, but cowboy culture was just. so inherently gay.
