How to read Percy Jackson

so, I have been trying to get some of my friends into the vast world of Percy Jackson. Thus, I make this post about how exactly to read the series.

In chronological order it is

The lighting thief (PJO)

The sea of monsters (PJO)

The battle of the labyrinth (PJO)

Demigod files (EXTRA PJO)

The last Olympian

Red pyramid (KC)

Demigod diaries (EXTRA HOO)

The lost hero (HOO)

Throne of fire (KC)

The son of Neptune (HOO)

Serpent's Shadow (KC)

Mark of Athena (HOO)

House of Hades (HOO)

Quick note for demigod files and dairies, Files takes place in the in-between of BOTL and TLO, Dairies is a collection of stories that are split across HOO. You can get away not reading files but there are mention to stories for dairies in HOO, so I suggest reading both.

for the extra series, you have to read PJO to read HOO, and you have to read PJO and HOO for TOA, but KC can stand alone. KC has no prereqs and you can read it and stop; in HOO there are short stories at the end of the books of Percy and Annabeth meeting the Kanes, but they can be ignored. you might be able to get away with not reading HOO before MCGA as the only connection to the og is Annabeth, I'd suggest reading it though. NdAA and PJO(2) both require HOO and NdAA needs TOA.

EDIT: thanks to the person who reminded me about what I was missing. first off you can find the KC/PJO cross over in an actual book called Demigods and Magicians, I'll try to find where that would sit in the order. there is also a book called Camp Jupiter classified that might sit at the end of HOO. another book is camp half-blood confidential; I'll find where that sits and edit. I might make a whole new post and link this one into it. BRB
