Something that i'm annoyed i have to accept is that dragon age's theme of unknowable truth, that we only ever have rumours and fragmented stories and conflicting opinions. Was only meant to be temporary. That they always meant to hand us all the answers on a platter someday. So that's why they even bothered with that theme in the first place, not for good tone setting and their one solid piece of world building, but to make sure we knew we didn't know anything. So they could do their big reveal later. Which is so annoying because that theme was so good and so unique and so strong.

Dragon Age Has A Dwarf Problem

So, there's a problem with Dragon Age and dwarves that has grown more and more obvious the further we get into the games. It isn't really much of a problem in DAO, there's hints of it in DA2, and it really shows up in DAI and DATV. TLDR for the start: The writers are really bad at considering the possibility of players playing as a dwarf. Spoilers for DAI and DATV incoming. - Mod Alistair

I'll start with the biggest elephants in the room. By all logic, a dwarven Inquisitor and a dwarven Rook should have reconnected with the Titans and the magic of the Stone. Rook significantly interacts with the exact same lyrium dagger that triggers Harding's connection to the Titan. A dwarven Rook should have also gained a connection to the Titan and Stone magic. And the Inquisitor. The Inquisitor who had the power of the Fade, literally harvested from the Titans, jammed into their hand. A dwarven Inquisitor should have connected to the Titans way before Valta did. We know that the writers have a bad track record of writing for non-human players, but this is just beyond the pale. It's a significant lore connection that the writers outright overlooked and failed to consider for the players.

And of course, Kal Sharok. The second major dwarven city in Dragon Age that still lives, a location that's been shrouded in mystery for the whole series. And we go there exactly once for a quest, and don't even really get to explore it. By all rights, Kal Sharok should have been a major faction. They're in the Deep Roads, constantly dealing with darkspawn, and deeply connected to the lore of Veilguard. On top of that, Harding's dwarven heritage is of more immediate importance than her being a former Inquisition member, and takes up more story space. There are so many details, mysteries, and locations that get overlooked and skimmed over as related to the dwarves, and with their lore importance connected to the Titans and the Blight, we should see more.

Dragon Age writers constantly write elven and qunari lore from the perspective of humans without considering the elven or qunari perspective. They barely write dwarven lore at all.
