If I die, I don't think I will become a star,

perhaps a rock on the side of the road,

that you kick for amusement.

Parts of me will chip away,

and slowly I will shrink into non-existence.

Perhaps then I will be reborn again,

not as a star but as a Rhizobium.

Stuck to a tree, in a symbiotic relationship.

Perhaps then I will experience a true platonic partnership.

and then I will be born again,

not as something beautiful as a star,

but as something miniscule but important.
