Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

Let's talk about reblog notes.

We rolled out a significant change to how notes work on reblogs, and the reaction has been strong. We're not going to pretend otherwise.

First things first: We're reversing the change. Your feedback in comments, emails, and especially reblogs, made clear that the rollout created problems we need to address before moving forward. We also should have communicated this differently from the start, and we didn't.

We still believe there's a better version of how reblogs can work. One that gives every voice in a chain the credit it deserves. But we want to get there with you.

In the coming days we'll share more on how we plan to do that, including ways to work directly with some of you on this and future changes before they ship.

I was already emotional about Three being named after the other two SecUnits that where with it in the task force, but then I made me more emotional thinking that even if its name is a memorial it is also a celebration because it plays along with 2.0 (who gave it the code to hacking its governor module) and Murderbot 1.0 (whose memories showed it there is a path forward). Three lost its group, its not-family, its not-partners, but it was not left alone. Not for a single moment since going rogue it was left on its own— not even in name.

Welcome to Perihelion Day Bingo event!

What is Perihelion Day Bingo? It's an event celebrating our favourite transport bot blorbo, Perihelion (the Asshole Research Transport as Murderbot affectionately calls it)! The goal is to create fanworks: whether it's fics or art focusing on Peri and its unique experiences and perspective as machine intelligence. If you're a fan of ART or just The Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells you're welcome to participate!

This blog will be collecting and archiving works made during the event.

FAQ:

How to play? Get your bingo card here and save the link! Everyone's layout of prompts will be a little different. If you're an artist and the prompts are a bit too abstract, you can choose the visual edition of the prompt card from here. How long does this event last? It lasts from January 3rd (Perihelion Day) for 2 weeks until 17th of January. The ao3 collection will be open for a bit later, until 31st of January, for those who work a little slower. After that time it will be closed and no new works can be added. The same will happen on tumblr: we will be reblogging new works until January 31st, after that the blog will stay up as an archive. How to get a bingo? To win you have two methods. Short form method: you either need to write 5 drabbles or draw 5 sketches that will get you a bingo line. Long form method: you need to write a longer work or draw a comic/full illustration that includes 5 prompts from your bingo card that line up. Which method you will choose is up to you! What do I win? Self satisfaction that you created something for ART, the ultimate transport blorbo. If you join Murderserver, you will also get a commemorative role with a unique color you could use. And a community of people who love the same character as you do! Where should I post finished works? You can post your fics or art on ao3 (we have a collection here) or on tumblr. Or post your work on both platforms! Make sure to tag tumblr posts with PerihelionDayBingo2026 tag so we can find your works and reblog them.

RULES:

1) To get a bingo win you need to create a work or multiple works that includes prompts that line up horizontally, vertically or diagonally. 2) You may create 5 smaller works (5 drabbles or 5 sketches) or 1 bigger work (longer fic, full illustration, comic). 3) Include the tags you're fulfilling in the tags or description or chapter names of your work. 4) Include the link or image of your bingo card in your work/works. 5) Your works should center Perihelion (Asshole Reaserch Transport). Additional characters are allowed but they should be secondary and used to highlight qualities of our fav asshole transport bot. 6) As long as the focus of your works is on Perihelion (Asshole Reaserch Transport), shipping is okay. If you're uncomfortable with shipping, feel free to choose prompts that are ship free (which are the majority of them). If you want to make a shippy fic but your pair isn't on the bingo card, go ahead and tag it appropriately. 7) Posting multiple drabbles or sketches in the same work is encouraged but not required, as to not spam the Murderbot tag. 8) You may choose the main bingo card or the visual edition card. The visual edition card is aimed at artists, but feel free to use whichever you find more inspiring. Or you may mix and match the prompts from both cards! 9) Have fun!!

I may be super late to this but I was filled with a ridiculous sense of glee that I generated a bingo board and the first prompt is therapy. ART needs therapy and the board knows it
