I wonder if the insult "half-a-witch" that was commonly used to insult Willow originated from Evelyn's time.

I've seen a common idea/theory in the Owl House fandom where a witchxhuman child is born with a small bile sack and, therefore, have issues with producing their own magic. If this is true for Evelyn and Caleb's child (let's call them Ashlyn, to keep with the Clawthorne naming convention), would the Boiling Isles' population be accepting of a "weak" witch who could barely (if at all) cast a simple light spell?

Even if they were, would rumors of Phillip Wittebane leave the witches with a bad impression of humans in general? How would they react to Ashlyn being part of the same species with that murderous lying loser?

Would this mean that the term Boscha used to pick on Willow is the Boiling Isles equivalent of a slur dating to the back end of the Deadwardian Era referencing Ashlyn, who was literally half-a-witch and half-a-human? Would it also have been used to refer to any of Ashlyn's biological children that might also have had problems with casting spells due to their human heritage?

Also, riding on the idea that Ashlyn and their children had little to no magic: if palisman carving was not a unique trait of Clawthornes before Evelyn met Caleb, then Ashlyn likely started to make palisman both for themselves as a magic aid (like Stringbean was for Luz) and to sell to others for a living. And they then passed the business down through the generations.

Is Dana blocking only trans women disagreeing/expressing disappointment at her?

Or is she blocking anyone who disagrees/expresses disappointment?

Genuinely, I want to know, because I want to understand the full situation, and I think this could change my perspective

Okay, thank you for the replies and messges! This context helps me relax about my read of the situation

She's blocked 8 people in the last 36 hours, and not even all of them were trans women. I would not call that a blocking spree, even if they were only mild responses to her comment.

In my interpretation of events, Dana answered a direct question about whether Frankie was trans with a direct answer about Frankie being cis. In my eyes, this is the same as someone asking if Frankie is mixed race and Dana answering she is white. She's simply stating a fact about the character, as written in the show, so we understand she isn't doing something else.

I think it is unfair to both criticise this response for not being phrased differently AND to call her two follow up posts clarifying herself "damage control". You can't have it both ways.

I'm of the opinion that anyone calling Dana as terf is over reacting. I'm of the opinion anyone sending trans women hate because of this was already transphobic. I'm of the opinion that it makes sense as a trans woman to be disappointed to not have explicit rep. I'd love to see explicit trans woman rep more too. I'm also of the opinion that just because Dana hasn't done it, doesn't mean she never will, nor does it mean she doesn't support trans women. She is very supportive of shipping and identity headcanons.

I'm going to try and not talk about this anymore. I'm fixating on it and it's not good for my brain. I think my feelings have been made clear.

And, of course, if this does turn out to have been the beginning of Dana showing us her transphobia, I will acknowledge I was wrong. I just don't think we can say that with the evidence in front of us

shrug and move on

vaguepost and complain about it on your own blog but dont engage directly

send it to a trusted moot and vent about your frustrations about it in private
