Anemone!!! 🌊 🦪
She's one of my favorite characters, so I drew her for the FanWing Art competition thing! I hope I get in! Anyway, I really like how this turned out
Do you mean the Fanwing fest one?
I thought no digital was allowed
It says it has to be on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper and I printed it on one so it's the right size. The terms didn't say anything about how it needed to be created so 🤷

Erm... what the Σ
I'm trying to think now since it seems I chatted with a couple of people who have had bad experiences with the WoF fandom, but all in different parts, so here's just a question:
What do you think is the worst part of the WoF fandom? Bonus if you add tags and tell your stories

The history of humans in WoF is truly tragic.
Yes, humans stole dragon eggs and tried to tame dragons before The Scorching. But humans tame animals in our world too, even in cruel ways, does that mean we should all be exterminated? Of course not. But dragons didn't think so and completely destroyed at least one an entire race of humans. Yes, humans in the WoF world used to have more races than just black people. There were literally people who were born with green and blue hair. Or maybe there were more such unique races. But now they are all exterminated. Dragons brought catastrophic destruction not only to an entire intelligent civilization, but to the continent itself, turning part of it into a desert. And then, dragons ignored the intelect of humans and simply mercilessly devoured them, seeing them as animals. Imagine if our Earth was controlled by another species, and we were turned into pets and food. Sounds like a story from All Tomorrows.
continuing what i was saying, (i thought my mom was coming upstairs and deleted all my tabs)
i feel like flamesilks were hyped up too much in book 15 and then they weren't actually used at all, like, the FLAMES of hope? luna using her SUN SILK RIGHT AT THE CENTER OF THE COVER? i have the hardcover version and the quote at the back ends with "but she had to use this power now that she had it, didn't she?" ???????? and for her to just cut off the vine like that. idk. it kind of felt unsatisfying.
and continuing my rambles on how much i love arc 3 (it may be slop but it's MY slop 💖) i just. absolutely love love love the legend of the hive, the concept of the breath of evil (it inspired the main villain in one of my creative projects!), gosh, BUG DRAGONS? my autistic ass LOVES this shit!!!!! in fact I only read wings of fire at all because i saw how beautiful book 15's cover was at the library i was at and I wanted to see the build up to such an interesting climax, and for it to just, never happen??? >:(.
i have associative synesthesia (just like Whiteout!) and wings of fire is orange, very very orange. it smells like fire and air freshener, and it's the type of orange you see on a sun ray being casted through a window, onto wood, while the air is cold and the year is anywhere from 2014 to 2017. ive been trying to figure out what this feeling is called for a very, very long time, and I guess the closest thing is melancholy mixed with nostalgia? like the type of nostalgia for something that never happened, that you wish was real, like when you see something ancient, like thousands of years ancient? i came to this conclusion after finishing arc 1, and the next 2 arcs really did not disappoint in this. i don't know if this even makes any sense at all to other people but it totally does to me.
i also feel like wings of fire isn't ready for arc 4, in forge your dragon world tui mentions she doesn't outline the books, she knows the big twists beforehand sure but she just dives right in and. THATS NOT HOW YOU WRITE!!!!!! NO WONDER SO MUCH STUFF IS BADLY WRITTEN AND INCONSISTENT!!! like another user here mentioned, she can't go forward when there's so much stuff left behind. grr. i really hope she plans out arc 4 properly.
.
Okay so I may regret this normally I don't comment on these sorts of things
But as far as the Flamesilk thing I feel like that's the point of it, symbolically??
Throughout all of Arc 3, Flamesilk is treated as a lot of different things by different dragons. Wasp sees it as a tool, it's used for almost every kind of craft that the Hivewings make. We see metallurgy and glasswork and lighting and all of that is made with Flamesilk and many Silkwings don't even get to know that. Sundew and the Poisonwings see it as a weapon; they want to burn down the hives in revenge for their trees being burned down.
Enter Luna. Luna has always wanted to change the world; it's the opening line of her book, and she's spent her entire life planning on how to overthrow the Hivewings, and now she's not just any Silkwing, she's a FLAMESILK. So clearly she has to do something with Flamesilk to save her tribe, right? She wouldn't have this power if it wasn't for something.
For the entire first half of this book, Luna is still thinking of this conflict as a fight. She sees Flamesilk as a weapon-- something she can use to hurt other dragons. She doesn't want to hurt other dragons, it makes her sick to think about doing that, but in her mind it's the ONLY thing she can do to save the Silkwings.
... But when they actually get into a fight, she instantly freezes up. She can't use Flamesilk as a weapon; the idea of burning other dragons, even Hivewings, terrifies her. Using it would only end with her being captured by Wasp again, something that actively sends her into a panic attack.
She spends the next part of the book completely despondent and lost. What's the point of having this power if she can't even use it? Why is she so useless?
But she does end up finding a way to use flamesilk to help others in the way she wants. She brings light to the darkness with it. She gives the other Silkwings warmth and comfort and hope. And that light is what helps her escape that spiral of helplessness.
In the end, Luna finds out that's what her strength is. She meets with Freedom, a lost child who's even more helpless and alone and scared than she is, and she gives her hope. She manages to weave Freedom into their tapestry, show her love and what kindness is. Luna doesn't need to be a weapon, or a tool, she just has to be herself.
Do what she can. Hope it helps.
So of course her final action is something any Silkwing could do, given the chance; her flamesilk isn't what makes her special, it's her hope and vision.
Drew a randomly selected dragon from the WoF Wiki!
Cinnabar has such nice colours...
CINNABAR!!!! I LOVE HER!
Fathomstalker mpreg kidfic request person came back to me and was like "hey no rush but when is this getting done?" and I don't have the heart to tell them that I would rather swallow nails than write that even ironically
THERE'S NO WAY 💀💀😭😭😭
How do they think that is a reasonable request 😭😭
Saw people hating on Axolotl on the WoF subreddit and like goddd who cares? Nobody would care about them if Wren hadn't specified that they use they/them pronouns. "Tui is shoving in inclusivity" Tui has been including queer characters in WoF since 2014 with Umber being gay. Tui just likes adding in representation. There's so many queer characters in WoF and it was only a matter of time before she included one with they/them pronouns. I just think it's kinda neat is all. Do I wish Axolotl had more presence in the story? Eh, maybe. For now, I think they're fine as is. Definitely not worth arguing and fighting over
It's Dragonslayer time, and I'm at chapter 2 which means.........
LEAF!!!!!!! MY SON LEAF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL SPREAD MY PROPAGANDA ABOUT HIM, JUST YOU ALL WAIT
Finally someone else sees the vision! "Leaf's the most boring protagonist" "I skipped his chapters" "Leaf is dumb" NO he's great and I love his character!!
X-Men/Wings of Fire crossover! It's been a little while since I made the first ones and I made some more!
