Since I posted Starflight earlier, it was only natural to follow up with Mastermind! Here’s the sketch and then my attempt at coloring it. Took inspo from the graphic novel, but I’m feeling so-so with it.

Here are some other sketches. He’s very clearly inspired by a certain Treasure Planet character.

I could imagine him sounding like David Hyde Pierce’s Dr. Doppler, but my personal voice claim for Mastermind is John Aylward as Dr. Magnusson from Half-Life 2: Episode 2. I like the grumbly, authoritative quality of his voice and I think he fulfills the role of a beleaguered, exasperated, condescending scientist very well. I liked the vision so much, I did this gestural doodle with one of his lines,

The main point of divergence in this AU is that where Farsight dies in a SkyWing attack in canon, she instead survives, but the event is a near death experience for her. And, as a near death experince is wont to do, it rattles her and makes her rethink her life priorities a bit. This is what motivates her into the action that sparks the plot of this AU, which I'll probably end up elaborating on later.
