Ice age au: Weiss singing to her unborn child
Who could have guessed that all it would take for Weiss to get pregnant was for her father to stop interrupting her and Jaune? Who could have guessed!?
Well, Weiss was with child. It was still early in the pregnancy, so she was still doing most things. Though she wasn’t allowed to do much magic. It strained the body as well as the mind. Though there was one spell she was still allowed to do (there were others, she was just being melodramatic), a spell which allowed her to feel her child.
Weiss sang to the unborn babe, singing stories of their father and how she and he had fallen in love. How he had proven his strength to Jacques in combat. How he prevented a war with her help, and made this tribe what it is.
She didn’t sing about how the babe was conceived. Weiss wouldn’t sing about that. She may have thought about that night, but she didn’t speak about it.
She finished cooking a stew for her and Jaune when Whitley, her younger brother came in.
“Weiss, father has once again forbidden me from going on the hunt,” Whitley said. “He believes I must improve on my skills first.”
“To hunt, you need to be able to track,” Weiss said.
“And what good does keeping me here do me for that?”
Weiss let Whitley sit with his anger for a little longer.
“You could ask Jaune to help you,” Weiss said.
“And prove I am unmanned?” Whitley asked.
“What unmans you is your pride,” Weiss said. Whitley flinched back at that.
“My husband would be grateful to help you. He isn’t father. He is quite kind,” Weiss said.
Whitley looked away. He looked around. He realized he had ignored many rules of etiquette.
“I… I’m sorry. I was frustrated,” Whitley said.
“Heed my advice and you will be forgiven. And if you do… Jaune can judge if you are worthy of one of his sisters…” Weiss said with a smile, seeing Whitley burn. “Which one were you hoping to court again?”
