Following his stint as a vocalist of a semi-big post hardcore act, Frank Turner created a marvelous acoustic act as Frank Turner and The Sleeping souls. Discussing everything from the death of a friend to the saving grace of rock and roll, this group makes some of the catchiest and most fun-filled acoustic rock music of this generation.
Dead Sara is a crazy good hard rock band from LA. This song has so much intensity and one of the coolest riffs of 2012. Emily Armstrong's gritty vocals tie everything together to create a song that defines a new generation of rock.
Hail the Sun is another band than has relatively frantic musicianship, but it airs on a more melodic side compared to the likes of The Ongoing Concept. What makes this band so astounding is the many changes of mood with the music. And talent is seen throughout the entire band, especially in their vocalist/drummer Donovan Melero.
I don't know how to describe this band and album and song except for one word: Frantic. This is different and unreal.
This song fucking rocks. The soul music at the beginning is great, but when the guitars kick in, ooooh you'll like it.
Hurt is the final song from Nine Inch Nails' masterful album The Downward Spiral. To fully understand this song, it is a good idea to listen to the entire album. It is an amazing album that may change your perspective on a few things.
La Dispute mixes the musical intensity of post-hardcore with the flow and finesse of spoken word lyricism, creating a brilliant dynamic of emotion and chaos that firmly sends the message of panic and desperation.
Masterfully combining varying dynamics within vocals with lurching alternative-metal guitar riffs, Chevelle has created a distinct sound that sets them apart from other heavy acts like them. Jawbreaker features a almost funk driven guitar riff that is almost impossible not to move to.
How To Destroy Angels is a side project started by Trent Reznor, one of my favorite musicians. Their song combines the ambiance of Nine Inch Nails' music with the haunting vocals of Reznor's wife, Mariqueen Maandig. This song captures both qualities at their maximum, making it one of my favorite songs by the group.
QOTSA is a fucking baller band. Great song with an unforgettable riff.
