That one scene from s2e4 be like:
Anna ved Vannet (Anna by the Water) (1878) by Otto Ludvig Sinding (Norwegian, 1842 – 1909), oil on canvas, 65 × 45 cm, Private Collection
Tyler McAuley, featuring Kara Jean M., March 4th, Chicago; Soundtrack: Gotye: Eyes Wide Open:
--- There’s this girl I used to …it doesn’t matter. But she had this thing where she’d find murals or graffiti or whatever and just stand in front of them. Shoes off on the sidewalk which is objectively gross. Arms kind of open. And I’d be three feet away holding her iced coffee like okay cool I’m furniture now. I thought it was for instagram. She never posted them. Not once. I asked her once. What are you doing. Like actually what are you doing. She got quiet for a second and said “I need to stand inside something someone made when they were brave because I forgot how.” And I didn’t say anything back. I just handed her the coffee and we kept walking and I think she knew I didn’t get it and she didn’t hold it against me which is maybe the most generous thing anyone’s ever done for me and I didn’t even notice at the time. Last Wednesday I’m walking to my car and I pass this wall. Something painted on it. And my feet just stopped before my brain caught up. And I took my shoes off on a city sidewalk… and I stood there with my arms half open because I couldn’t quite commit. And I looked up… I looked up. And the sky was just there. Like it had been waiting very patiently for me to stop being so busy. I only stood there maybe two minutes. But something in my chest opened up a little. Like a window unsticking after a long winter. Not all the way. Just enough to feel the draft. And I thought oh. That’s what she was doing. She wasn’t pretending to be brave. She was just reminding her body it was allowed to unfold. I think I’ve been walking through rooms with my arms pinned to my sides for a very long time. And I don’t know where she is now. But I hope there’s a wall. And I hope it’s a good one. And I hope she knows she didn’t just stand in front of brave things. She was the brave thing. She was the whole time. ---
