From The Window || Alessa & Nick
Alessa could almost feel the inner struggle of Nick. She knew her husband very well, way back when, which is also why it hurt so much when she thought he was cheating. And right now, he wanted to go but like always there was a pull towards each other. He couldn’t stay out of her head. At the same time she wanted nothing more than to have him gone. Wiped away. Silence all the things he’d said to her, silence the painful memories. Trying to kill him wasn’t her best move but it would have at least given her her peace of mind back again. A dry laugh escaped her lips. “I never wanted you dead, my love.” Her voice dripping with venom. “Back then it just seemed to work out best that way.” She stood up and walked around again. “If I wanted you dead back then, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now.”
His bitterness was there, very evidently, but she didn’t even blink. She knew that he felt that way. But what he did was uncalled for. When his old nickname for her slipped of his lips, anger seared hot in her veins. “YOU don’t get to call me that anymore!” She screamed down the phone. The phone cracked in the strength of her grip as her anger spread through her whole body. She threw the phone onto the floor. The bedroom floor was happily lined with carpet so the mobile was still intact. Alessa took a breath and let it go as she picked up the phone, but her heart still burned angry. “You could have anyone but just me will do.” She was pacing to get the anger out as well, her voice calm though. “So you’re the king and everything is dandy. What’s in it for me?” She ignored the final sentence, not wanting to get to angry again.
My love.
For never was there a term of affection delivered with such venom, that he could hear the years of bitterness between them with each inflection. It sent his body shivering with purse disdain and for a moment he had to wonder how he ever fell in love with such a vixen. Gerry might think herself a gorgon of old, a monster to be hunted and feared, but she knew well that there was a god of spite, pettiness and infantile behavior right before them. Their very own Hera, stalking her husbands mistakes. He did hang up, even though he damn should, no he simply stood, the clouds beginning to own up gently and start to pelt droplets at him. “Of it was, after all you got to live.”
Then it came. Like a poorly built damn, Alessa did what she had always done with remarkable ability. She let rip. Her screaming voice should have come to a surprise for Nick, but it didn’t. It was entirely predictable. She had always found herself infuriated by the smallest things, as if he had enjoyed his own slip up by calling her by an old nickname. He wished he could simply call her the bitch she was. Instead Nick simply pulled the phone from his ears as she screeched and waited until the banging had subsided. He could actually hear her yell from the window, and just prayed silently that she hadn’t heard the echo. The last thing he wanted was to see her face to face when she was like this. “I told you, it’s your Luciano’s connections. Nothing else.”
“Money, work, business. You can open into more contacts, things don’t have to be strict.” You can win me back. He didn’t say it, but he knew it would seal the deal if he did. But Nick couldn’t lie about that, even to Alessa.
