Hi Anon! I've been meaning to put a list like this together for some time, so thank you for the request! Ginny is my favorite character (really closely followed by Harry, though some days they’re so neck-and-neck, I can barely tell anymore). However, the writing/Ginny is so hilarious if you want to indulge for a moment in this universe.

Reading AO3 fics on Kindle

I really love my Kindle, so I was wondering if I could do this. The answer is YES. 

If you have a kindle, go to ‘content and devices’ on you amazon account. Then choose the settings tab, and at the bottom there will be an email address for your kindle device. You also need to authorize an email address the kindle can receive emails from. 

Now go to AO3, and click the download button on the fic you want. From there select the .mobi format

Download the file, and send it to you kindle email. 

Then it will show up on your kindle as a document, but it reads just like any other book! YAY. 

LOOK AT THAT 

@redinkofshame ‘s Marigolds in the Hanged Man , which I am going to read on my vacation :D. Now I can read it on the plane. On my kindle. Without straining my eyes. 

I assume that if you are reading an unfinished fic, you might have to delete from the device and then send again when updated. 

But honestly, one of my big barriers to reading long fics whether done or stull in progress is just getting the time to get started, and being able to put it on a reading device will sure help.

Honestly the whole song hits me right in the feels but specifically these lyrics [english translation in brackets]:

I mean - obviously this is Tom Riddle serenading Ginny via pretty handwriting

This reminds me of poor young Ginny trying so desperately to separate herself from the diary when she realized how dangerous the dynamic was but still trying to keep it all a secret

And this would be after she gets the diary back, when Riddle is angry with her from stealing his chance to destroy Harry. His mask is coming off but he's tightening his grip on her mind/soul.

Starlight (Starset) - Harry's internal struggle to leave Ginny behind pre-horcrux hunt aka the longest camping trip in the universe.

This part of the music video would just be Harry pining after Ginny the whole summer at The Burrow.

Honestly, I think this is a big reason Harry demanded Ginny stay in the ROR. Not because he thought she was weak or in danger, but because he was and he needed her as his light at the end of the tunnel.

Concrete Jungle (Bad Omens) - Ginny's evolution into Rebel Leader™ during the Death Eater regime

Again, the whole song just really sets the mood, but specifically these lines:

You never know if you'll get what you wish for I climbed to the sun And I fell I fell, in a concrete jungle

The imagery of climbing to the sun only to fall in prison like wasteland made me think of the whole juxtaposition of Ginny having an absolutely banging year being the #1 It-Girl between her friend group, being a school-wide Quidditch star, and finally catching the man of her dreams; only to be followed by presumably the most horrific school year any one could ever experience

Wouldn't it be nice To play the game without a crooked die In a world where you don't have to hide? You don't have to live in a disguise

Ginny watching people play both sides, including her own parents (to a degree). Her anger/hatred growing for those blatantly stepping on the necks of the vulnerable to keep themselves elevated/safe, but knowing she has to play the game too if she wants to survive.

I want things that money can't buy The price is pain to make this right And I could buy a thousand lives So you can try to kill me, but I can't fucking die

Look, Ginny having enough pain to buy a thousand lives and being immortal?? Slay Queen

I fell, in a concrete jungle In a concrete jungle And I'm the fucking king

This is quite literally the last line of the song and it's so fucking impowering. Go steal that sword, girl. Make those Death Eater fools your bitch.

Bad Girlfriend (Theory of a Deadman) - Excluding the last verse (cause it takes a wild turn), this is just grumpy Harry sitting on the sidelines just enjoying the view while Ginny is just having the time of her life post-war. This song makes me think of a Harry who gives a crooked smirk anytime someone question's Ginny's faithfulness/loyalty.

The lyrics that solidify the Hinny dynamic to me:

Dirty girl, getting down, dance with guys from outta town Grab her ass, acting tough, mess with her, she'll fuck you up

Because we know Ginny doesn't fuck around with boys who don't respect her boundaries

Welcome to Sophie’s Hinny Fic Recs: Angsty Edition!

You specifically asked for T or M rated fics, but there are a few here that are rated E. I’ve included them because 1) they’re great, 2) some of the M rated ones are no less explicit and 3) angsty-Hinny really can’t seem to keep it in their pants. Anyway - I’ve marked which is which, feel free to use your discretion on which links you click.

Castles - @pebblysand - Canon-compliant Post DH - rated M

God, I find it hard to explain how much I love Castles. It’s just extraordinary - and certainly angsty! Hinny is core, but, there is SO MUCH MORE here. Mind the tags, there is some difficult (though sensitively handled) subject matter here.

The Potters and the Weasleys - @goodlifewrites - Hogwarts magical AU - rated G

Enemies to lovers done really well, which is hard for Hinny, plus extra bonus points for being Jily Lives, basically my catnip.

Knowing Where To Look - @ala-baguette - Canon-compliant Post DH - rated T

Hinny are not the focus here, but they're definitely in angsty mode and it hits just right. Plus it’s a rollocking good mystery, super-atmospheric and a really interesting POV.

If you never bleed you’re never gonna grow - mp143 - Post-Hogwarts canon-divergent - not rated, but I’d say definitely M

I recently rediscovered this fic, and while it’s not the angstiest on this list, there’s plenty of pining and soul-searching on show, plus (magical aspects aside) one of the most true-to-life pregnancy stories I’ve read.

Off-Kilter - @remedialpotions - Canon-compliant Post DH - rated M

Interesting first-person Harry POV, as Hinny struggle to sort themselves out post-battle. You’ll want to go straight on and read the sequel, August, too.

Bodyguard fic, in which Auror Ginny is assigned to protect an extremely uncooperative and reclusive Harry.

Ginny is doomed to try and win Harry’s heart, over and over, in just one day. It’s such an interesting premise, with much angst for poor old Ginny.

Auror Harry and Quidditch Player Ginny find themselves in an exes-with-benefits situation, which is absolutely fine, right up until it isn’t.

One of my very favourite takes on Ginny, in her final year at Hogwarts after the end of the war.

you don't know what's lost 'til you find it - mp143 - Magical AU - not rated, but I’d say definitely M - features a major character death

Told in two alternating timelines - how Hinny got together in the wake of an unimaginable tragedy, and how they reconnect after years co-parenting their daughter strictly as friends.

You want angst? I’ll show you angst! An older Hinny deals with the return of their eldest son 11 years after being kidnapped as a young child. Devastatingly awesome.
