PRIDE-ALORIANS
missed a chance to post it on pride but here we gooo
the bo katan/the armorer ship is so funny to me as a “din is the armorer’s foundling” truther because it’s just this
Your art is beautiful! Do you draw on commission? If so, would you mind pointing me to your price sheet?
Bro.... thank you...🥹❤️❤️❤️
I've been thinking of opening commissions these days but I haven't finalized a set amount on rates or how to even advertise myself on doing commissions like I don't know how many would be interested... I've done personal works for friends and it went for about $120 for a full color headshot?? Just as an example since I haven't taken any commissions for a year... haha
But thanks for asking!!!
Luke and Grogu study drawings
I guess what bothers me about the Grogu choice is that I feel like he's choosing between Luke and Din, rather than between Jedi and Mandalorian. And for someone of his lifespan... That's not a good idea. I don't think it's that he wants to be Mandalorian particularly, but rather that he wants to be with Din, which... Isn't great, necessarily, because both he and Luke will likely be gone by the time Grogu is even close to adulthood. So he needs to be choosing the path he wants, rather than the person he wants, and I'm not sure he was old enough to quite understand that
I think that's a fair read on the situation as well, but that it's also not incompatible with the view of seeing Grogu's choice as the choice between two paths. Because I don't think the choice has to be the same forever, it just has to be true for right now. There's a scene in the Obi-Wan & Anakin comic that I think a lot about when I consider Grogu's future:
"I can feel the galaxy calling to me, Master. I need to answer. I don't want to wait. This doesn't have to be forever. I can always come back." Or I think about Ahsoka saying, "I did my duty as a citizen." and Yoda's not quite a question response:
"Not as a Jedi." "No. Not yet." Which says that there was the understanding that they wanted her to come back even after she left, that that was possible for a Jedi. So, I look at Grogu's choice less in being a permanent thing forever and ever, but a very necessary one for right now. Right now he cannot commit to what a Jedi needs to commit to, given what abilities and weights a Jedi carries. Right now he wants to be with Din while he can, that's what's in his heart. I think Grogu is old enough to understand the concept of how he ages, that he takes Luke's words seriously, that if he does his training now, it will likely mean that he cannot go back to Din, because Grogu ages so slowly, and that means he wants to spend what time he can with Din while it's possible. But that doesn't have to be forever. It does need to be a committed choice, it can't be half-assing both paths and tearing himself apart trying to do it, but it doesn't have to be forever, it's not like Anakin couldn't have left and come back, it's not like Ahsoka wasn't planning on going back. I think the assumption for Grogu is that, even if he doesn't learn from Luke himself (because he'll die of old age before Grogu is ready), that Luke is setting up a revival of the Jedi Order, that Grogu can rejoin and commit himself when/if the time is right for him to do so, but in the meantime, he's choosing the other path. That Grogu's future of being a Jedi or not is undecided beyond that right now he wants to be with Din. There's a lot of other stuff that can go into this whole conversation, like Grogu's revived connection to the Force and that we don't know how that will play out, consider that the Force still operates based on your emotional mindset and that discipline is fundamental to not falling prey to the dark side, whether that will fade with time or if the show will be unable to resist having Grogu use his cool Force powers, as well as the difference between a Jedi and a Force user (because the Jedi of the prequels co-existed alongside many other Force using traditions, it's not like they considered themselves the only ones who could use it--they believed the Force was for everyone), but right now... I think Grogu knows that Din's going to die long before he becomes an adult, but Grogu is capable of complex thought and wants to spend that time with him while he can, then he'll find the next path he wants to be on/is meant to be on. I don't know what Lucasfilm has in store for Grogu in the future, but that's generally my read on things, that this choice was necessary right now and not something to be taken lightly, it has to be serious, but it also doesn't have to be permanent.
In terms of the aging difference, it's a really big thing that Luke is giving Grogu this choice, because Luke is essentially taking himself out of the equation. Grogu has gone to be with Din, and by the time Din is dead and Grogu’s life with him is over, Luke will also be dead. Luke will never get to train Grogu, never get to have a relationship with him as a Jedi and share the burden of that responsibility.
Luke has been alone (presumably), trying to restart the Jedi order, and he lets his first would-be apprentice go. Grogu knows things about the Jedi, has memories of what it is like to be a Jedi within a community who support each other that Luke is probably wanting to learn about. (Luke has always been the only Jedi -not alone, no- but not with anyone else who could see the world through the Force as he does. Ben and Yoda both die as soon as Luke starts to really understand. )
For Luke, this is also a denying of attachment to Grogu. Luke respects Grogu’s choice and wishes, even if it might not be for the greater good (because its better for the galaxy, to gain another Jedi who would bring a long life and prior experience). Luke is not going to let himself cling to something for what Grogu can do for him, or so Luke can have some emotional validation in getting to train an apprentice.
