i think materialism outright does not need to be made compatible with personal relationships. you can consider materialism in business relationships, or communal work situations, but a personal relationship should have no relation to what a person can materially do for you. the point is that you love them. if you don't love them, then what are you even doing.

disabled people need caretakers. in a better world there would be fully trained and compensated caretakers. but you should not be analyzing your partners like this. it makes me think love is worth nothing to you.

love is work. its its own form of work with its own rewards, outside of any materialist system. if you are analyzing people you're supposed to love like this, then i can only imagine how cruel you are when you don't love and i can't imagine building a commune with you.
