Rachel: I think everyone did as well. It was nice to see our respective families getting along so nicely. My dads were quite taken with your mother. They said she was an absolute delight!
Rachel: You didn't have to get me anything else! The earrings were more than enough! Like I said, Hanukkah gifts are usually small tokens or trinkets.
Rachel: I can't believe you set up a treasure hunt for me. You're amazing.
Rachel: I'm going to love whatever it is because it's a gift from you.
Finn: I'm glad they got along. That could be awkward if they didn't.
Finn: The earrings weren't that big. And I don't want to get you something cheap just for the sake of giving you something.
Finn: I hope so. By the way, I loved the necklace thing. I don't want to wear it to school because I have gym this semester and I don't want to break it or lose it in gym class.
Present #2. Happy 2nd night of Hanukkah. To keep with the theme of “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach,” I made these for you. I love you. - Rachel
Oh my! These were so yummy Rach. Thank you. Love you too.

Rachel: Thank you again for coming over last night. I know my dads can be a big overwhelming and dare I say overbearing at times.
Rachel: The earrings are beautiful. I wore them to school today.
Finn: Thank you for inviting me, and my family. I think everyone had a good time. I know I did.
Finn: I'm glad you liked them!
Finn: Since I can't afford 8 gifts, there is a gift for the last night too, but until then, 6 clues about it.
Finn: I hope you enjoy it too!
I suppose that’s fair enough. You wouldn’t really think so but it’s nice to just concentrate on it instead of stressing about anything else.
I’d be afraid of dropping and smashing pottery.
Best part of showers?
Yeah they would. They’d be less fun without to, especially when hot chicks are involved.
In theory, sure. In reality, you’re either going to get caught or walked in on by parents-awkward and damaging to any social life. Or are you thinking of the guys locker room at school? Again the opportunity to get caught is even higher, but also the place is nasty as fuck and what quality girl is going to want to be part of that.
It’s that pottery painting studio, Finn. I tried to drag you there a hundred times.
Well, it’s just with the other things you’d posted it sounded like a hair place maybe. Like we’re you’d go to change the color of your hair or get those streaky things or something.
I don’t exactly know how pottery painting is relaxing.
Happy Hanukkah, Finn. Thank you for making this evening even more special. Here is just a small token of my love. I hope you like it.
Love always,
Rachel
Thanks Rachel. This looks so cool!
That’s incredibly considerate, but a tie won’t be necessary. The party will be very casual. I don’t want to make things awkward, but I hope you know your mother and Burt are more than welcome to join us. Of course that’s okay. In fact, it’s more than okay! I’m touched you thought of me. While we do exchange eight gifts, they’re usually not overly extravagant. That being said, I did pick up a few small gifts for you. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you. Sometimes my insecurities get the better of me. I’m really happy you’re joining us.
Does that mean I can wear dark jeans? I’ll let them know... you said Kurt was coming too right? It’ll be like a family outing. Of course I thought of you Rachel. I would have bought you a Christmas gift, so of course I’d buy you Hanukkah presents. You bought me Hanukkah presents? That’s so cool; you’re the best Rach. I guess they do say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. But you kinda already have my heart so... no need to worry.
Best part of showers?
Nudity.
Well they’d be kind of pointless without.
So glad the weekend is here. I am ready to sleep in, get my nails done, and spend an evening at Color Me Mine.
That sounds like a really relaxing day... well I don’t know what Color Me Mine is but yeah.
True, but sadly that isn’t an option this year. You know I think you look handsome irregardless of your choice of attire, but you’re probably right. That being said, you don’t need to wear anything fancy. All I ask is for your pants to be free of unnecessary holes and your shirt has a collar. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I must ask: the dinner menu isn’t the only reason you are coming over, is it?
I suppose I can mange pants without holes, and a shirt with a collar. Mom will probably even make me wear a tie. While we’re on the subject, you guys do 8 nights of presents right? I totally can’t afford that, but I did get you something for the first night, and the last night, with clues for the last gift on the other nights. I hope that’s okay?
I don’t know if I should laugh or be offended? While the food sounds freaking amazing... kind of a distant second to you.
get'cha head in the game
Ya gotta, get’cha get’cha get’cha head in the game.
Hey! What’s up Mike?
I suppose. Like I said, all her songs sound pretty similar. Hello makes you sad? It kind of makes me feel like I’m in my mid to late thirties, divorced, sipping a glass of red on a bearskin rug draped in silk. But then again, most of her songs make me feel like that which is more fun than sad, honestly.
You think the idea of being divorced in your mid-thirties is fun? Are you nuts? I get it, relationships don’t always last, but I sure as hell hope if I get married, it’s once, you know. Or because of like Mom and Burt, although that sucks too. But I can see what you’re saying about the song making you feel like that. I mean, if I’m honest, it feels like if I tried to contact Quinn or Puck ten years from now or something, if we never stay friends.
Oh, I can still tell it’s her. Her voice is so unique and powerful… I just wish she’d do more with it. I can’t say I haven’t sang along to Hello every time it comes on the radio though.
I mean yeah, you can, but not necessarily as easily as with her first album. And you wonder if its an old song you don’t remember, or a new one. I find Hello really sad, I usually switch the station.
kurtsmiddleton:
I completely agree. I think a lot of people tried to implement her unique sound into their music and then she disappeared from the scene for a few years… So now everything she does sounds passé.
Right, she just sounds like everything else, and it’s hard to tell if it’s an old song or a new song, or even her at all.
Holidays aren’t about time away from school, Finn. They’re about celebrating with family, friends and loved ones. No, there is no need for formal attire. We’re just going to have dinner, play dreidel and eat the Jewish version of fried jelly donuts. I promise you’ll have an amazing time.
But it’s easier to celebrate and spend time with family, friends, and loved ones when you don’t have to do the whole work and school thing on top of it. I didn’t mean formal either, but that’s good too know. But like ... probably something nicer than I usually wear? Fried jelly donuts?!? Holy crap that sounds amazing! Count me in.
