Rare 32nd note fill for me. Might be using 6 stroke roll by accident sometimes.
RLrrllFF x 3 + sextuplet.

Rare 32nd note fill for me. Might be using 6 stroke roll by accident sometimes.
RLrrllFF x 3 + sextuplet.
Used Stephen Taylor’s Flam It vid on Youtube (recommended) as inspiration for this one. As usual quickly ‘lefted’ a kit to record the idea: Foot Right Left Flam Right Left. In 6s...
Gigged in Guildford, Surrey for New Year. You can tell from the video everyone had a good time.
As usual rushing before lessons, 2 bar fill using 6 stroke roll based stickings. From Pete Riley’s latest article. Using my Ahead 13 inch - want to get used to the head tension for NYE gig.
New fill idea to develop for lessons. Was supposed to be 3s then 5s x3 didn't sound good so this is the compromise.
RLRLR x 3 + F. Not bad, need some new moves....
RllRLl RllRLl RLRR LRLL RLL RLL RLL RLL

Rights with Foot = RH on crash. Just after my last lesson for 2014, that's why it's a Christmas Fill!
Triplet bark idea in 8 note groups. Foot's getting better, though tires a bit after practice.
RLL RLRLL x3 on Fill 1 (played twice) and RLL RLRLL RLRLRLL RLL RLRLRL on Fill 2. All triplets last L of every group is 'barked' on the HH.
Sounds good!
Hi hat bark idea. Normally 8 note groups sound too obvious but this RLL RLRLL seems ok. No drums over Easter...rusty.
In 16ths then 16th note Ts
Literally thought of this and jumped on the kit to record it - Snare, Tom, Floor Tom, Kick, Kick - similar to "the Bonham". Foot started out well then...nothing (evidenced by grimace).
No time to warm up those doubles...but got it on tape for practice later.
Recipe: RllRLrrllRLrrllR then invert it all for the second bar.
Need some new triplet fills: 3 x RLRLL and 3 x RLL in triplets any order gives you a two bar fill.
(started off with a 5 stroke roll!)
Simple RL rL (RL then Flam) sticking to vary the usual 3 note groups. The figure is played x 4 and the get out is RLRL.
The hi tom is in the middle so I'm alternating with the other 2 toms to get the orchestration.
Using some 5s instead of the usual 3s. Sounds a bit mechanical but it’s a start. Think the drugs for my back are helping my knees, bass drum sounds in time!
RRL feet / Paradiddle hands. Better on a ride than the crash I'm using but at least you can practice feet and hands at the same time!
It slips a bit; Stool too high and bass drum too far away, I quickly "lefted" someone else's setup.
RLL + RLRLL over 6 beats with 1/16th note T get out......think the snare needs a service and a tune up!
