A map of the 20 miles I did on my bike today. Would have been 32, but I got a flat tire. Fucking kids with their fucking bottles. Little shit bags.
before and during. Keeping at it better than I am this blog.
Happy.
Duh.
Okay, I know it's been forever again...
But I haven't given up the fight! I'm down 71 lbs and here are some fun #s: over 2.5lbs/wk; Down 9 notches on my belt, lost over 18% of my starting weight; exercising 5+ times/wk; avg~2,350 calories/wk
So it's been forever...
Haven't been on a bike in almost a week, although the activity has been elevated so I'm not too bummed about that, it also helps to know that since my journey started almost 3 months ago, I've lost 47 lbs. I've lost nearly 50! That blows my mind.
Before and after pics coming eventually.
The month in review.
Do far a really good day. 2 bike rides and 1,771 calories in (likely to change but doubt I'll even touch 2,500, probably closer to 2,200 or less.
This month, I averaged 2,300 down from 2,400. And I also found out I lost 35 pounds since day 1.
It's nice to be able to put a number with the mirror results, but I've got a looong way to go.
Thanks for sticking with me. And thanks for sticking with my blog.
No. Excuses.
This was me this Morning. Still got 2 rides in.
35 pounds!
Just got on a scale and saw that I lost 35 pounds in 10 weeks. I am soooo happy for these results I can’t even explain my joy. The times they are a-changing. Bob Dylan said that once. I’ve worked hard but hard work gets easier everyday. I said that. Just now. Go me again!
Here’s the ride I did today. I think I can safely add 2 more miles as I had to bike to the Bike shop before embarking. Good times. Google said it should take an hour 40, but it was closer to 85-90 minutes. Go me Edit: it was actually right at 85 minutes. 15 minutes quicker than Google advises, and that was with a quick stretch stop at Olin.
No updates in awhile...
Hey all...Just a quick one.
Thursday: 1,825 calories in and 1 bike ride.
Friday: 2,125 calories and 2 bike rides
Saturday (kids' birthday) 2,960 and no bike rides (it was looking mighty stormy when I left for work so I left the bike at home. Of course, it was beautiful when my lunch time rolled around, but those the brokes...)
Sunday: 2,712 calories in and no exercise (this has been a trend for some time, of course it's not usually preceded by a Saturday with no bike rides...)
Monday: So far 1,826 calories and a nice walk with the fam on state street. This is before dinner and future whiskeys to come my way. So essentially, I'm going to have to bounce back strong tomorrow, which I know I can. I think the last couple of days were pretty good for me. I bucked the diet, but I didn't take in too many calories. In fact, the family got ice cream today and I didn't, so the cheat days were kept in check rather neatly.

Tuesday and today.
So I know I didn't blog yesterday, shame on me. But I guess I was still kind of getting over the weekend because I went to lay down at 9 and fell asleep around 9:30.
But some good updates: on Monday I wound up going for a 7.2 mile ride and brought in 2,909 calories. So a pretty lame-ass cheat day, but I'll take it.
Yesterday I went for a ride in the morning and then again in the afternoon for a total of 12 miles. And consumed 1,767 calories. So a damn good day. Even went to bed at 9:30 to get 8 hours of sleep last night.
Today was another solid day. Went for two rides, ate 1,711 calories (pre-whiskey) and largely avoided the snack table at work that was filled with brownies, cupcakes, cookies and other awesome stuff that allowed us to raise money for The Hearing Loss Association's Walk 4 Hearing. I did wind up bringing home a cookie for everyone in the house and a plate of corn bread.
And that's everything that's ever happened to me up until right now.
Oh! And once I saw a blimp!
As Saint Barnabas of Cyprus said, "Keep on Truckin.'"
I'm not proud...or hungry.
No ride today and had a decadent 1,000 calorie meal. I ruminated in the past about what would happen if I ate bad or didn't exercise. I guess we'll find out but I expect that tomorrow I'll get on my bike and eat right around 2,500 calories. Glad to have a day off from a ride though. This weekend was just a pain in the ass and I woke up quite sore. Almost 9 weeks in.
Edit: Actually not too bad. Even when considering it was a treat day. Wound up going for a milder ride only 7.2 miles, but not too shabby considering I had resigned myself to no ride. Also finished the day with 2,909 calories in. Nothing special, but could have been a much worse cheat day.
Never drinking again (tonight).
Stayed up waaaaaayyyyy too late last night and drank waaaaaaaayyyyy too much whiskey. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I had to get up early this morning and take my spawn to the Children's museum. Mostly I just wanted to die.
But I did finish yesterday with 55 minutes on the bike and 2,550 calories in. So from that point of view it was a really good day.
Looks like I'll be below the 2,500 mark today and probably closer to the monthly average (2,300ish). That's good. My consistent 3,000 calorie weekend days were not a good thing.
Yesterday and today...
Okay y'all. I biked in the hottest weather this year has given. Total of 12 miles and my phone says that means I burned 1,369 calories. Not too shabby.
After a 3,000 calorie day I only put in 1,916 calories giving me an average of 2,273 calories per day and a net average -3,476 calories per day on the month.
Overall I'm very happy. I've never stuck with healthy living this long and I think I've broken a lot of really bad habits. I'm eating like a habit.
Today I've eaten 1,612 calories and that's bound to change (hello Whiskey!)
As a point of reference, I'm using the Fatsecret.com Calorie Counter app on my droid. There's a great widget that I keep on my main screen.
Tentacion
Today was one of those days where I just needed something sweet. The day started out okay, I went for a ride before work (and then again at lunch) but when I got back, some schlub was dropping off a sheet cake in honor of our president and thus the temptation began. After making my way past the cake and over to my desk, what do I see? A box of candy bars. Seriously, Caramellos, Hershey w/ almonds, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups...all sorts of good crap (these were for a fundraiser my office is holding). Fortunately my will power was strong today. No candybars and only a small bite of cake. So in a sense, I won. So far I'm at 1,880 calories on the day but looking to add a few more. No situps yet this week, but 4 rides over the last 2 days is a pretty damn good start. One thing I realized and I don't think it's particularly healthy: I am afraid to cheat and I'm afraid to miss a workout. I think it would be wise to get over that so it's easier for me to get back up when it does happen...D'know...
Cripes...Ended the day with 3k in. Good news is I got those 30 situps in. so I'll call it a push
Willin'
Awesome day so far...I've had 780 calories all before supper and never really felt all too hungry except when I usually do right before my morning snack (cashews, unsalted, roasted). Then had a salad as it was the fastest and easiest option before heading out the door this AM.
The best decision I made was taking a ride right before work and then again on my lunch break. That all totaled up to 1,700 calories burned all before supper and that doesn't include the calories that I'm burning just by having a functioning body.
Today I also found Tyler Week's blog (http://www.344pounds.com). He pretty much has the same idea I do regarding weight loss (or I, him rather); eat less, be more active and burn more calories than you take in. He's more freely eating crap that he knows is bad for him than I am, but I'm still trying to get my bearings on eating like a normal human. But his underlying message is brilliant: if you screw up, if you eat a frozen pizza by yourself, if you eat McDonald's all weekend then screw it. It's in the past. Move forward. Progress is progress.
