@thebibliosphere I had to repost this for both of us because OOF
That is depressingly relatable. I hate how common this is.
For weeks doctors kept telling my mother my symptoms were due to being a girl of menstruation age and/or just wanting to skip school. I wound up hospitalized for a month due to acute liver failure. I was out of school for like 3 months total.
... Fuck's sake. I'm so sorry.
I once went to the er because I couldn't calm the fuck down, I was absolutely convinced I was dying. I could barely even say *that* before the doctor started interrupting me and asking very... leading questions. Then the doctor didn't even bother to touch my body, barely even glanced at the readouts on the screen, and said I was having an anxiety attack.
I have anxiety. I've had absolutely horrendous anxiety attacks. This? Was NOT an anxiety attack.
I went home and took my usual meds and slept for like, 3 days, barely getting up to use the bathroom.
About a week later I was talking to my ex on zoom while he was cooking, and mentioned it. Only my ex actually listens to people. I was describing every other shitty body-related thing that I experienced at the same time when his mom (who was a cardiologist) piped in,
"Sounds to me like you had a fucking heart attack! Did they even bother doing ::list of testing::?!"
No.
No, they did not. They had me lay there for an hour or two then booted me.
There needs to be some way where, when you get an actual diagnosis, you can post in a public database the name of every previous doctor who dismissed it as something trivial.
Doctor review websites exist as well as Google reviews and so on and people DO look at them. Go fucking slam their asses. It makes a very real difference.

so the house of representatives just passed a bill that will now move to the senate to BAN tik tok completely in the united states and they are expected to argue that “national security risks” outweigh the freedom of speech and first amendment rights. biden has already said that if it gets to him, he will sign it. whether or not you use the app…….this is something to be worried about
before u have the kneejerk reaction of “good I hate tt anyways” or “maybe ppl will go outside” that’s not what this is about! the government wants to remove an entire app with over 170 million american users (who in large have used it as a platform to build community, consume and spread world news, advocate, organize), and try to force people back to us based apps like meta and google. please think about the implications. please think about what else they could potentially do if they get away with this. this could very well set a precedent for free speech & constitutional rights as well know it, and it is imperative we are on the right side of it
By the way, the actual language of the bill would allow them to ban any website or internet hosted app from a "foreign adversary", as described in the vaguest possible terms. This isn't about tiktok and will not stop at tiktok.
Summary of H.R.7521 - 118th Congress (2023-2024): Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act
now, THIS is the "tiktok ban bad" post to reblog.

HAPPY HUNDRED YEARS TO THIS JOKE
Ramadan Kareem to all those who observe, may Allah accept our fasts and duaa and allow us growth and harmony over the course of the next month. May Allah ease the suffering of those in Gaza and across Falasteen, Sudan, Congo, Yemen, Tigray, Kashmir, West Papau, and all those who are oppressed around the world. May He grant them shifa, tranquility, steadfastness, and sabr. May He grant us the strength and ability to fight injustice wherever we see it, and victory over our oppressors.
Here is a list of resources for Gaza and Falasteen. Here is an even bigger list. Here’s a much smaller one. Here is one with resources for both Gaza and Sudan.
Here is the link to a GFM that is very important to me. Here is the link to a GFM for a family in urgent need of evacuation out of Gaza.
Here is a way to help out Sudan. Here are links for donations, Sudanese businesses to support, and brief education about Sudan. Here is a post with resources for education and updates about what's happening in Sudan.
Here is a post with resources for Tigray.
Here is a post with important information on boycotting for Congo. Here is a post with links to support Congo.
Here is a list of resources for education on various issues around the world, including but not limited to West Papau, Hawai'i, Kashmir, and Armenia.
You can check my resources tag for more. I know tumblr's searching system isn't the best, though, so I tried to put as many as I could from that tag here.
Ramadan Kareem. May every action we take towards justice bring us lasting freedom and tranquility 🌙
the way the war in gaza has been constantly about targeting flour, targeting hospitals, targeting universities, targeting water containers, targeting anything that brings life in order to "thin out the population" and "encourage palestinians to move to tent cities in egypt"
and then you have western media readily calling it a "humanitarian crisis" therefore fulfilling israel's goal of manufacturing a humanitarian crisis. this entire war was with the purpose of collectively punishing a civilian population of 50% children. that's why it was immediately understood and labelled as a genocide by multiple genoide scholars, by the lemkin institute, and is currently on trial for genocide at the hague
like the starvation and the blocking of aid and the dropping of parachuted MREs to just barely salvage the reputation of a few politicians is not a byproduct of the war. it's not collateral damage. it is a central pillar of the genocide. acquiescing to israelis blocking aid by building ports and dropping pallets of food means acquiescing to famine as a strategy instead of trying to stop it. famine is not collateral damage, it is a central pillar of genocide. killing children is not collateral damage. it is a central pillar of the genocide. we don't need hindsight to say this plainly, anyone who denies it now is another pillar of genocide.
eSims for Gaza is facing constant eSim shortages.
They get over a thousand requests for connection a day, but their email inbox is regularly sitting at 300-500 eSims. With the bombardment of Rafah and continual internet blackouts, the need for more eSims is particularly urgent.
Even if you have already sent an eSim or donated to an eSim donation drive, there is more you can do. The team is calling for people to campaign in their communities to help spread the word about eSims and encourage donations.
You can help by printing out posters and putting them up in local businesses, on telephone poles and notice boards, or wherever people are likely to see them.
[ID: Poster headed “eSIMs for Gaza” with an illustration of a red poppy, a QR code, and a link to tinyurl.com/gaza-esims; copy reads “Sending eSIMs is an immediate, concrete way to help Gazans on the ground. Scan below to learn how you can get involved.” End ID]

But they aren’t documented so they wouldn’t be pa…..nvm
This is a huge misconception for regular Americans. When the government uses the phrase “undocumented” they’re using it incorrectly because if they were truly undocumented then they would’ve be in system. However these immigrants are in the system and they pay taxes, file tax returns and get no benefits that citizens and legal residents get. They also get to see ICE showing up at their doors because the government has their addresses. Fun fact. “Undocumented” workers pays $12 billion dollars every year in taxes. https://www.google.com/amp/www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2016/10/06/how-much-tax-do-americas-undocumented-immigrants-actually-pay-infographic/amp/
Reblogging for info.
“Undocumented” just means “without papers,” i.e. a social security card, valid visa, etc. They’re still on databases and whatnot, they just don’t have the documentation that allows them to reap the benefits.
so if it didn’t click- the government is aware of their presence and gladly taking their money under the table while simultaneously promoting the idea that undocumented people are a threat and encouraging hatred and distrust of them it’s super messed up, literally the scheme of an evil villain, and it’s really happening
🗣 undocumented immigrants in Los Angeles contribute more to the GDP than the state of Montana and like 5 other states

Researchers have discovered that leaky blood vessels, together with a hyperactive immune system may be the underlying cause of brain fog in people with long covid. They suggest their discovery is important for the understanding of brain fog and cognitive decline – difficulty with thinking, memory or concentration – seen in some people with the condition. It is hoped the findings will help with the development of treatments in the future.
To Summarize:
Long Covid sufferers experience symptoms like forgetfulness and concentration issues due to leakiness in brain blood vessels, according to research findings.
Scientists from Trinity College Dublin and FutureNeuro confirm that Long Covid patients with brain fog have disrupted blood vessels in their brains, making the neurological symptoms measurable.
Blood vessel leakage in the brain, along with an overactive immune system, may be the key drivers of brain fog in Long Covid patients, leading to potential changes in understanding and treating post-viral conditions.
I can't find a single right-wing news source covering this.

I'm sure there's a good reason behind this. awareness is better than no awareness, right?
But it comes off as really ironic when so many of the systemic reasons that so many people HAVE long covid aren't even mentioned.
Thoughts and prayers. Yay.
