dory .
“You don’t seem all that scary.”
“That’s because you haven’t seen me in the boardroom, or in a meeting -- Or basically at work.”
“I don’t need to dress up for Halloween. I scare people enough without one.”
january .
January nodded. “That’s a very positive outlook on the matter. And kinda of a great honor and compliment from your work that they trust you and your abilities.” She stated with a small smile. Nodding softly she listened to both options. “I’ve never really been too much of a fan on the Fantasy world, but a book about real life problems that people face today tends to really be an attention grabber. And something I’m sure our youth can relate too.. which can be powerful.”
“I guess it runs in the family,” Cassandra laughed and shrugged a shoulder. “Fantasy does really well though. I think a lot of people like the escapism, which is completely fair,” She nodded slowly. The raven-haired girl began to tidy some of the papers up a little bit, stacking them back into piles. “Yeah, it’s hard because -- People talk about the books but if people don’t buy them, it looks bad on me. And that can happen sometimes with those kinds of books. So it’s like, do I risk it and put it forward anyway just so that people have the good representation? Or do I play it safe with books I know will do well for sure?” Cassandra looked back to January. “It’s a toughie.” A small laugh escaped her lips as she began to tuck the papers away.
rapunzel .
“Oh gosh, it’s October 6 and I haven’t even thought about Halloween costumes yet.”
“Please be a Sexy Nurse. It’d make my fucking year.”
january .
Laughing a little she gave a small shrug. “Sorry , I guess that puts a little more pressure on your back to know all that is between the lines huh?” she stated with a small scrunch of her nose. Nodding as she listened to the other explain a little about her job. “Oh, wow. I would hate to see the pile before this one then if this is the trimmed down version. Anything you think is going to make it really big?””
Cassandra looked across the pile as she spoke. “I guess so. But then, I don’t mind it. And I like to think that I’ve got a good eye. It’s why I’m the one who does the final reads and not anyone else in the office,” She explained. “There’s a Young Adult book about little gay kid sofa-surfing after his homophobic parents kick him out. Then there’s a Fantasy book -- It’s a pretty classic Fantasy book. But sometimes you’ve got to go with the trend and just put out a book you know will do well.”

january .
January felt herself almost relax a little for the other. “Oh, I see.” She nodded looking over everything. “That’s.. wow. I mean you’re pretty much in charge of peoples dreams, life’s work… do you enjoy it though? I mean reading?””
“Oh wow jesus, it sounds quite intense when you put it like that,” Cassandra laughed and held her hands up. “Oh I enjoy reading, yeah. It’s like -- A big part. I need to do it a lot.” She nodded gently. “I mean, they’re kinda trimmed down before they get to me, the pile that is. We get send hundreds and then there’re people in the office who will give it a good look through and then I get a smaller trimmed down pile.”
january .
January was heading to her normal table as she looked through her phone. Check in on all the appointments she had for the day. But as she sat she had noticed all the papers on the table. “Huh? Oh are these .. yours? I’m sorry. This.. wow this is a lot of work.”
“Mine?” Cassandra raised her eyebrows before shaking her head quickly. “Oh no. I’m a publisher -- People send me books and I decide what’s actually turned into a book basically.” She explained with a light smile. Her eyes ran over all the paper work again as she shuffled them in an attempt to find somewhere to put her mug down. “It requires a lot of reading.” Cassandra said with a laugh.
Cassandra had a lot to do -- More than she cared to think about. In an effort to inspire herself to actually be productive, Cass had dressed appropriately for a businesswoman. She’d been sat in the corner of a coffee shop for the last half an hour, with the three tables around her covered in book drafts. A certain pair of eyes had been on her long enough for her to notice. So, after finishing her second cup of coffee, she set the mug down and looked them dead in the eyes. “Can I help?”

phoebe .
You’d think that after ten years of being in the public eye, Phoebe might have this whole event thing down to an art. However, that never really seemed to be the case. It was nice, sure, and more often than not she liked the clothes that Fallon and Julia picked out for her to wear, but the crowds and the loud music still always seemed intimidating and exhausting to her. “I kind of am, huh?” She replied, only slightly jumping as the other woman approached her. “Large crowds aren’t really my thing.”
Cassandra looked across the room from where she was stood. There really was a lot going on. “It’s okay,” She said gently, turning to the blonde with a light smile. “They can be... a lot.” Cassandra admittedly didn’t like crowds either, but for very different reasons to the other woman’s probably. You couldn’t watch your back in a crowd. “I prefer to watch --- Not in a creepy way,” She was quick to add with an awkward laugh. “It’s just easier to stay out of trouble this way.”
ana .
“I don’t know have to do anything special. I just be myself I get people who want to spend time around me, people who want to take me out on dates,” Ana answered shrugging.
Cassandra laughed and nodded. “That’s fair -- I guess my problem is that I really don’t give enough shits. People are crap and if they’re crap, I’m gonna call them out on it.”
ana .
“Or maybe your attitude is just repulsive and turns off women,” she muttered under her breath.
“Do tell me then --” Cass sighed dramatically, crossing her arms over her chest. “Since you’re such a wizard, how do you pick up women?”
As Cassandra wandered around the ball room, she alternated between swishing the material that made up her skirt and twiddling with the roses on her straps. The dress was nice. It was far nicer than anything she’d normally wear. Eventually she spotted someone stood alone at a table, looking almost as lost as she was. “You know, you’re really bringing down the mood of the place,” Cass approached them from behind and whispered in their ear, before moving to stand to their side. “But it’s okay. I am too.” There was a brief moment when she instinctively went to put her hands in her pockets. But fancy dresses don’t have pockets.
