General Villainy Class: An Analyses:
This is the abridged one. The long version is even worst. They all need therapy (shot out to @crowsovercity for this canva template idea)
shannon hale is so insanely good at details it makes me go a little feral like:D that bit in the short story book where ashlynn hears about a boy hanging up a birdhouse and like. ofc we KNOW its hunter but she develops both their characters and why they end up liking each other without having any of them ever meet. we can see why they get along despite their differences because deep down they’re both very gentle and kind people who enjoy helping animals— ashylnn doesn’t see hunter, but she hears of the boy who hangs up the birdhouse because she’s helping animals in the forest and they’re chatting away about him. and she notices that he tries very hard not to be noticed, that his steps were soundless and that if she were anyone else she wouldn’t have noticed him, only it was hard to sneak up on her bc she could understand animals. and she respects this as much as she can; she tries to only see who he is after the robins talk about the birdhouse, but she can’t catch him before he goes. all she sees is the birdhouse that he made, and she’s the one who helps the baby birds get up to the house. and again, they never meet, but their respective acts of kindness allow them to sort of cross paths anyway, and in the end they kind of work on this project together without ever even meeting one another. and i think it’s really beautiful that hale thought to pair them together because their destiny really is all about goodness and kindness; cinderella who endures and toils and remains kind and the huntsman who spares a young girl’s life and helps her escape like OKAY. okay
Descendants has soooooo many characters but the only ones i can genuinely see as siblings with their EAH counterpart in a crossover au are Chad and Chloe as Ashlynn's younger siblings. Like look at Chad and tell me he's not the forgotten middle child because Cinderella is the absolute girl mum of all time. In my mind there's like a 1 year difference (2 years MAX) between Ashlynn and Chad, and then just like in descendants there's like a 10 year age difference between Chloe and Chad (she was ABSOLUTELY an accident and thus the pampered baby of the family). AND IF ASHLYNN ISN'T AN ELDEST DAUGHTER IDK WHO IS
I'm never going to get over the hilarious differences between Monster High and Ever After High
Mattel making Monster High: So yeah we'll do a fashion doll line themed around halloween monsters and goth fashion and little girls will love it because little girls love creepy things but don't get to indulge in it often, and like with our other doll lines (BARBIE HACK HACK) we will create movies and tie-in books and hell, even an animated TV show with fun character dynamics so the kids get attached to the characters and wanna buy the dolls. It will teach little girls to be kind and brave and good friends and is set in high school so they have something to aspire to. We can even make lore about all the different types of monsters and their cultures and they can go on fantastical adventures in between their slice of life stories. Good clean spooky fun, nothing too complicated!
Mattel making Ever After High: *takes a shot* OKAY BUT WHAT IF!!! You know how Monster High was INCREDIBLY successful and has turned into a cash cow for us!? What if we made a spin-off series with a fairy tale themed high school instead BUT!! AND HEAR ME OUT! THIS IS CRITICAL! What if we made it a metafiction that's a commentary on the cyclical nature of fairy tales and tropes with fourth wall breaks galore AND ALSO made it a dystopian society where reliving the fairy tale story is a metaphor for systemic oppression and used it to comment on classism and racism and homophobia and abusive parenting and generational trauma! Yeah no, this is still gonna be marketed to 7 year olds, they'll LOVE this shit! Oh and just as a little cherry on top, let's casually hire an award winning author in the fractured fairy tale space to write the tie-in novels for it and leave all the stuff that we can't get past the TV censors in there!
It's eah 13th anniversary 🔥🔥 we up

briar joins the cheerhexers squad...?!
gifted kids love eah
Actually I think the biggest foreshadowing of Briar's sad fate, and especially the saddest line of dialogue in the books in retrospect, is in the first book when Briar says "I'll name my daughter after you, Apple."
Aside from the rather sad fact that these sixteen-year-olds are already thinking about having kids (since this isn't the only conversation where the topic of kids comes up), this whole scene is like... Yeah, it's a seemingly frivolous comment made by a girl who loves her friend more than any hypothetical boy and probably wants their daughters to grow up together... and then you remember that they can't. By the time "Apple Beauty" is born, Apple will be as good as dead. Their families will never be able to know each other. This is literally Briar's last attempt to bring Apple with her into the future. It's brutal when you know what happens next.
Part three of the doomed Yuri! And it’s a happy ending!! -ish
She had given up and put her into the castle to be ready for her prince
Also I didn’t have a lighting ref for this one and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out still

Apple's random moments that read lesbian after the plot twist,
Keeping a scarf made of Holly O'Hair's hair for herself (they're not close friends, so there's something going on).
The "Apple Beauty" convo with Briar, complete with a kiss on the cheek.
Throwing random kisses at Darling. Oh! And this fuckass shojo moment her:
Telling Raven she'd watch her while she WAS UNDRESSING, and then picking out her dress. By the way when Raven says she would rather go to Maddie, Apple INSISTS that Raven stay
"I'm saving my first kiss for my prince" so she doesn't have to help Hopper. (comphet on comphet violence).
Every time they try to bring up Daring in something and they are just...so not in love (he's her fiancee and even Snow know It's a bluff!!):
The not-so-great reaction when Sparrow hits on her. And before you say, "Everyone does it," I want to point out that when he uses the same tactic on Raven It worked—so yes, Apple is the problem (or Raven simply has shitty taste in men).
😭😭 THOUGHTS ND PRAYERS PLZ. the face looks.... questionable
…reborn from vengeance…
Just a little Legacies Undone Briar for today. Though we don’t see exactly how she emerges into the false world, I imagine she actually crawls out of the well of wonder after being pulled in, sucked through a portal as the magic of the Storybook of Legends began to scramble itself.
And from the well she emerged…changed. Just like she wished for. Though also tainted; touched by her own fairytales dark magic.
