@duckduckgoob
i have a suggestion
yk janeway and chakotay truly make me insane bc whilst chakotay is finding a new sense of purpose and inner peace and working thru his trauma and anger that he's been haunted by literally his whole life, janeway is slowly but surely feeling her identity being chipped away as she grapples with upholding her ideals and morals in the face of the reality of voyager's situation as well as trying to retain who she is outside of her captaincy even as she clings to it as the last vestige of protection against the sheer weight of her duty of care and the responsibility of 150 lives that she holds. and also they want to make out constantly. absolutely insane command duo.
Yes!
This is why I say he’s her rudder. Because he calls her Kathryn to remind her of who she is.
She keeps her ship on the path toward home and Chakotay keeps Kathryn on the path toward home.
They truly are a perfect pair.
You both nailed it!
Janeway will lose sleep and sanity trying to get Voyager home, and Chakotay will lose sleep and sanity trying to keep Janeway happy and sane and alive.
It’s almost as if Chakotay’s trying to repay Kathryn for giving him back his sense of self by doing everything in his power to help her cling on to her sense of self, which is so beautiful but also very tragic.
instantly thought of them
Literally them
Something I love about Abbott Elementary that you don’t see very often in other shows, is that the kids act like kids, but they’re not villainized for it.
Of course the younger kids are treated well, that’s to be expected. But the middle schoolers are often disrespectful, talk back to their teachers, don’t take things seriously, they rebel, etc. They act like middle schoolers. And they’re not shamed for it. They’re not the ones expected to change, the teachers are.
Middle schoolers are almost always villainized as being annoying and insufferable, so I appreciate that Abbott Elementary let them be annoying and insufferable without having to face any sort of consequences for a natural part of being human and growing up.
And when they are called out, its in a firm but loving way. Usually, they fix their behavior after the teachers take the time to see why they're acting out and treat them as people. It's usually an equal compromise.
I just love how they include the kids in Abbott Elementary. yeah, sometimes it’s just for a witty comment or two, but you have these glimpses of reality, of their lives beyond their roles as students. they have siblings in other classes. they appear in different teacher’s rooms through the seasons and have different relationships with them. they have real problems that are acknowledged. they cause shit and act sweet and get frustrated and joke around and push back and grow. I just love how they make it feel like a school that does care about the kids. because it’s not just a bunch of adults standing around talking about “for the kids” - you, the viewer, get to see the kids as the staff does - not as a mass group or an idea, but as dozens of individual people who develop right alongside our main cast of characters.
Barlissa Spring Headcanons
Spring is Barb's favorite time of year because it "truly showcases The Lord's artwork"
Mel hates Spring because she gets bodied by allergies
They "spring clean" each weekend by deep cleaning one small area in their house because they're too tired to do it all at once
They host an Easter Hunt in their backyard for all the little nieces and nephews (Mel started hiding mini liquor bottles as well so the grown ups would get into it)
Barb started hiding some bottles out of Mel's reach when she gets too mouthy
They convinced (threatened) Gregory into dressing up as the Easter Bunny for the kids (mainly because he's the only one tall enough for the suit but also because they know he'll challenge his comfort zone for the kids)
They go sundress shopping as a treat
They bribed (along with some threats) Jacob with deviled eggs to hold off his rants about commercialized holidays when guests are around
They usually spend Spring Break finding the best spots in the city for a romantic picnic (somehow they run into Mr Johnson at most of them)
i wish all in involved in the cancellation of Starfleet Academy at paramount+ a very pleasant get fucked
This is the first show in a long time that I gleefully looked forward to every week to watch. I'm excited we get ten more episodes but heartbroken. I thought we'd at least get a couple more seasons. Get them to graduation at least.
